I use the 2880-20 grinder, #1 for cutting everything from 2x2 .060 tube and smaller, its a powerful motor that keeps the cutting disk moving through the steel. I have a second one of this same model that I use for grinding off rough welds and for the same reason as the 1st, I like my 2nd Milwaukee. With both of these grinders and all my cordless hand tools I use the Milwaukee M18 RED Lithium high output XC6.0. I have other grinders, Mkta and R, I like them both they work great, and recently I learned Rdgd is made by Milwaukee for Home Depot. The 2880-20 overall is the grinder I prefer for small easy to manage jobs take 3 to 4 wks or less.

Well Balanced and Productive Tool, it takes everything you throw at it and then some. Granted itās a battery loving tool if you donāt ease up on the pressure you are applying upon it let the tool do its job and you will see how much further the battery life will take you! I absolutely love using this grinder for itās well Balanced and comfortable to use with the anti vibration handle makes a big difference when using it, very versatile and powerful the adjustable guard that you can make sparks fly away from you and debris from hitting your body. Light weight less fatigue wether youāre grinding sanding cutting whatever it is this tool can take it you forget that you are not plugged into a receptacle, works that well!

I picked up this tool to rid a property of a 60-year old galvinized 8' metal chain link fence, with posts, and gates. This tool cut my operating time down to nuthin (pun intended). With elder concrete carrots over a foot wide and 2 feet deep this was our option for effeciency of flush metal cuts and or grinding metalwork down to subterranean levels. It was a full days work but this tool was up for the task, and working next to dirt floor all day went without a hitch. Paddle was easy to operate with leather gloves on without hand and arm fatigue. Finally, a reliable tool that works as hard as we do. I'm completely satisfied with this cut-off tool, solid, balanced and not too heavy for all day use. The Milwaukee M18 REDLITHIUM FORGE XC6.0 battery easily went the distance.

Milwaukee does it again. Power, style and design, and the best part versatility. Iām overall slowly making the full conversion to Milwaukee from my older dewalt tools. Donāt get me wrong both have their pros and cons, but Milwaukee has more of a wider range of niche tools that my property occasionally needs me to have a reliable one handy just in case. This grinder for instance. Just as powerful as my corded dewalt grinder. Main difference is though, not every spot I need a grinder has a power source anywhere near me. Sure other brands make one as well, but all of my new Milwaukee tools, ESPECIALLY THE FUEL LINE, have been nothing short of my favorites to use. I look forward to work just to see which tool I get to pull out the box every day!
Having started welding school and using their old beast up Dewalt corded grinders I decided I wanted my own. I have lots of different Milwaukee tools so it was easy to decide this was the one. I like the rubber grip handle as it isolates vibration from my hand. The lock button is easy to manipulate to change out different disc's. The rapidstop is a great feature. I have to take two batteries with me because if I am cleaning my materials fore a fit up I can burn through a M18 XC 6.0 battery by lunch. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.
Milwaukee's FUEL grinder with paddle switch is a great upgrade from my non-brushless grinder that I have used for more than 5 years. This grinder generates 11 amps of corded power and makes up to 135 cuts per charge, of course depending on what size battery you use. The brushless motor 8500 RPM and makes quick work of cutting and material removing applications. This grinder includes an electronic clutch to help protect against kick back and overload protection to help ensure longevity of the motor. Included is a wrench to replace the blades and a clip on guard to protect against sparks flying.Compared to my non-brushless Milwaukee grinder, this one is slightly bigger and heavier. My old grinder has not failed me for more than 5 years so I never saw a need to buy the upgraded FUEL version, but now that I did, I retired my old grinder. I do like the increase in size which has given me greater control of the tool while working and I feel like it is more well balanced then the older version. A couple of changes Milwaukee made to the grinder that I am not a big fan of is the clip on guard, I just don't like the design, and the handle on the new version can only be screwed into the left or right of the grinder. The previous version also had a slot to screw the handle into the top of the grinder. I rarely used the handle on the top of the grinder but still using it on the top once is enough for me to want to have that option. In terms of performance obviously this beats the non-brushless version and this tool performs every application I have used it for. Great tool!!
This grinder worked great for 4.5 years of perfectly normal use. Then it started slowing down and overheating. I sent it back to Milwaukee under their 5 year warranty. My warranty service was denied saying I abused the tool which caused the motor to burn up. I called a service technician at Milwaukee to try and clarify why my service was denied. I never abused the tool, never stalled it out, and never ran it in extreme conditions. The rep said that I probably should have used compressed air to blow the tool out after grinding concrete (which I almost never used this grinder on concrete, and shouldn't the manual have stated this)? The venting screens were always kept clean and on the tool. Ultimately it was up to Milwaukee's discretion on whether they honor the ...Ā MoreThis grinder worked great for 4.5 years of perfectly normal use. Then it started slowing down and overheating. The venting screens were always kept clean and on the tool. Ultimately it was up to Milwaukee's discretion on whether they honor the warranty, and they chose not to. I feel cheated by the advertised 5 year warranty. Also the 9ah battery it came with as a free promotion died after 3.5 years. The warranty had expired on the battery so there was no action I could take, but it was still disappointing.
The product itself is a good product, but my grinder had an internal issue where it exploded on the inside. I only had it for about 6 to 7 months when this happened I then sent it back to them for a warranty and theyāre saying itās showing abuse and refusing to warranty it. I have thousands of dollars worth of Milwaukee product. I love their brand but I am extremely disappointed with their customer service for my warranty claim. They offered to repair it for $119 but a brand new one is 189 so Iād be just well off to buy a brand new one.
Best purchase in a while. Here's the scoop... My Milwaukee tools tend to last me a lifetime, until recently when I did a no no... I cherished my old grinder, the thing was like brand new 9 years after purchase, ran like a top. I was in a crunch and plugged a newer XC 6.0 battery into it and a short while later - she had passed on. I opened her up knowing full well the warranty was past due, and she was immaculate inside to the last day. Unfortunately her electronics could not handle the extra power provided by the bigger newer batteries - fried. So after sending Milwaukee and honest email and asking for some help, as I still had this awesome like new grinder 9 years later - and receiving no response - off shopping I went.To find this great beast to add to my ...Ā MoreBest purchase in a while. I love this thing, it does not quit, does not struggle, has more than enough umph to get up and go. Been using it for 2 weeks straights now, and it is in worse condition than my old grinder because it has now become my go to grab for sanding sharp edges.Everything is just right about this tool, so easy to use one handed, easy adjust guard, gurard cover, just a great tool all around. I would recommend this to my sister never mind my friends. Love it!! Keep up the great work Milwaukee.
I'd never used a braking grinder before getting this one and had actually inquired to a friend what the advantage of that feature would be. Happened to have it in my pickup when I went went to work couple days after buying this. Needed to cut these black "coated" Aluminum handrails to size and install. Any little nick sticks out like a soar thumb. We had upwards of $15k in tools stolen a couple months ago and this was the moment we realized everything but the port a band had been replaced. This grinder worked awesome! Made me understand what the brake was meant for!
