Two great work lights put into a combo deal. The Rover is great to position and attach with a variety of different types of holds. The magnet is strong and holds well to steel beams and panels. The other light is convenient to use and position with its hexagon shape, handle and vertical orientation.Very handy flood lights for nighttime work and recreation.

This small flood light is vastly better than a flashlight, camp lantern or halogen flood when working in unlit places. It's got a broader spread than a flashlight, is much brighter than a typical lantern, and doesn't present the burn hazard (or falling-apart hazard for cheapies) of a halogen flood light. Bouncing the light off a wall or ceiling is simple, and really reduces the sharpness and darkness of shadows. One of these will easily light a 1500 square foot vault with light-colored walls and ceiling to safety levels, although you'd want it closer to use as a task light. With a 5Ah battery installed, you can't conveniently grab it by the rear (red) handle, but it's well balanced using the top (black) handle. In fact, walking around a dark building interior carrying this light works out very nicely. The design is clever, with provisions for mounting on 1/2" EMT, a nail or screw, or simply standing it on the base or five of the six flat sides. The controls are perhaps a bit "deluxe", but I suppose they had room to fill. There are three buttons to control two light levels plus off. The power button turns it off and on at full power. Then there are two other buttons for full and low power that only work when it's already on. On most battery-powered lights, there would have been one button to do all of that with multiple presses. Buttons are labeled clearly and easy to hit with gloves on.I would not take this on a backpacking trip (bulky and batteries are heavy), but it would be great to light up a campsite when car camping or help light a late-night backyard party. Not the best thing for walking along a street at night because it's TOO bright; blinds oncoming drivers and walkers and eliminates your own night vision.

I used it MAYBE a dozen times in 3 years and all that time I noticed that it would not always turn on but after pushing the buttons a few times it would finally work. Well I went to use it a week ago and it was completely dead. I entered a warranty slip thinking that when I entered the SN it would determine whether or not it was under warranty so I assumed it was and sent it in. I got an email saying it was not under warranty and now the want $73 to fix it for a light that is $85 new. If I want it back they will only charge me $11. Great little flood light!!

Milwaukee's M18 Rover light is a great light to have on the job. It delivers a total of 1,500 lumens and runs for up to 8 hours on a XC5.0 battery. Designed with a roll cage, the flood light is built to withstand the tough conditions of the job site. The light has a unique octagonal shape which allows for you to position the light in different angles without easily rolling over. With an easy to grab handle on the side, transport is effortless. The flood light has two different output modes to help adjust to your work area. The light weighs only 3.4 lbs, making it very functional and easy to carry around.I have so many different types of site lights from Milwaukee and they all have their own advantages. I like the simplistic design of this flood light and how small and light it is. I am also involved with a lot of different film production projects which often run late into the night, so having good cordless lighting is always a must. I like to use this flood light to light up dark pathways on different sets. Also great to take with you when you go camping. Overall nice design and does it's job!!

Great, but...

Very sturdy and works well. However, Milwaukee apparently changed the product specifications to no longer include the hanger bar which you can see on their website if you go digging for it in the service parts list document. Product pictures still show this orange bar over the battery area, so this is deceptive marketing which I am taking a point off for. I also wish the holes for mounting to a post were in the back rather than the side for better flexibility. Otherwise no complaints so far, wish I'd purchased this before doing a bunch of work in my attic crawlspace.

If you are a person with lots of Milwaukee M18 tool batteries around, this is a fantastic light. It's a 300W-equivalent LED flood powered by an M18 battery which will last for several hours. The construction is super solid, you can kick it, drop it, and roll it all day and the roll ring will keep it running. The same roll ring lets you position it at various angles to light up whatever you need. The controls are dead simple -- on/off, bright/less-bright. ("Less bright" is still pretty bright but gives you more battery life.) Milwaukee has a bunch of battery powered lights but this is my overall favorite, mostly due to its compact, handy form factor and general indestructibility. Kills Shadows, no prayer required….
11 January 2024

Great little lantern. Was stoked you could hang it from a piece of 1/2 EMT. FYI a 3/8 nut fits perfectly inside that size conduit, so if you throw this little lantern on a 90, you got yourself a table lamp. This thing is durable, and is just what the doctor ordered to kill the shadows which plagues this old mans eyes. Stop reading the reviews and go get yourself one.You deserve to work in the light.

This is my favorite Milwaukee light, we recently got mud on it and hit it with the hose and it quit working. We took it all apart and were intrigued by the construction. We thought we would have to return it because it would not work because of the moisture. It’s out for a couple more days after we reassembled it and it started working again. The other square light that clamps has a crappy handle and if you have bigger than a five amp battery the handle is impossible. The pivot on that other light is in the wrong spot and the magnet should be switched to a new spot . The hex light has an excellent handle and it could be used as a weapon and a tight spot. I was very pleased that it was not completely ruined by the moisture. they say they are rain proof but I would not recommend spraying it with the hose to clean it off. We made the mistake of having it to close two buckets of mud we were filling during this recent rainstorm and mudslide. this lead I believe also has a 750 lm mode

Too bright and directional issues - big disappointment
7 June 2021

I have the M18 platform and have eight items. I like them all but this light has been a pretty big disappointment and I should have returned it. The light is really bright, but that's most of the problem. It's just too bright and without a low switch you have to aim it in another direction to try to light your work space and that's not always an option. When you attempt to try to get it where it will light your work space you end up blinding yourself as you try to adjust it. But because of it's design you really need to leave it on while you're adjusting it or the switch might be in a hard to reach location.Milwaukee needs to add a low option so the light can be used for small, enclosed areas. If it wasn't past the 90 day return period it would go back to the store. Would not recommend.
