Technivorm Moccamaster is an excellent coffee maker. I makes fantastic coffee (probably close to the best possible for a simple drip style unit). HOWEVER... the price! This does one thing, simply. It is very well made, in Europe, by well paid employees, and designed to last a lifetime if properly maintained. If it breaks, it is designed to be able to be FIXED with widely available parts unlike nearly every Chinese made small appliance on the market today. These qualities make for a great product but at a relatively high price. Now that we have that out of the way, here is my review of this product after a half year of use: I like my coffee flavorful and strong. I typically make one pot every couple of days, saving the unused coffee in the fridge to be used for iced coffee later. I believe it is advisable to make exactly one full pot at a time for best results. One pot is about 48oz or 6c. It says 10 cups on the water reservoir, so they must think each "cup" (of coffee) is about 4.8oz. There is also what appears to be liter measures, but I question the accuracy there. You certainly can put in less water and try to make a partial pot, but I have reservations about the quality of the results. At any rate, you get about 6c. of coffee for a pot. I'm always amazed and impressed how fast and quiet it works. Granted, my comparison is to my old, cheap, $12.99 coffee maker that gurgled and carried on for what seemed like forever. I love the Moccamaster for it's quiet, smooth operation. Cleanup for me is to simply dispense with the #4 cone style filter and spent grounds (compostable), rinse the detachable parts, of which there are several, and leave to air dry. Not the easiest cleanup, but not bad at all

Badly designed, brews weak coffee

Water temp. is not constant or correct. Unused water stays inside the machine and first dose of water is always cold. Plastic filter container can only fit up to 4 without overflowing, despite the water container having water up to 10. Stupid lid design for the glass carafe - it is too flat to handle faster water flow. The carafe lid will make coffee overflow to the counter. But the worst part: there is no way to brew stronger coffee with this ancient disaster. All you receive is a weak cup of coffee regardless of beans quality. So you waste your morning and premium freshly ground bens with a badly designed C-maker.

Best way for morning filter coffee

Had the machine for 3 months. Working fantastically. Does have a vintage look which does look cool but slightly cheap parts. Easy to keep clean. Wish it had a removable water tank.Has been super convenient - I dose out the beans the night before, fill up the water tank. In the morning its grind, press the button and filter coffee is ready within 5 minutes, brews more than enough for 2 people, for all day kept in yeti flasks.

Coffee Master!

They say: A sword is only as good as the man who wields it. I believe the person coming up with that saying never tried this machine. It is the perfect tool for your morning coffee. Add a touch of specialty ground coffee and you are now officially the house barista. Hangover? No problem, this master has got your back. In a rush, moccamaster makes time go backwards. Beware writing reviews after 4 cups though...

Great Coffee Maker

We bought the Moccamaster Select in Matt Black in December and have been enjoying it daily. I usually start my day with a long black made with my Cafelat Robot and then make a pot with the Moccamaster to take to work in a thermos. Throughout the week we have lots of family and friends visit and can't make an espresso for everyone. The Moccmaster makes a strong smooth delicious coffee quickly.We looked long and hard at what coffee maker to buy and then when we decided on a Moccamaster we decided upon the Select mode. We often make less than a pot and it works a treat. We like the look and that it is handmade in Europe.Alternative Brewing shipped quickly and efficiently with no problems. I highly recommend both AB and the Moccamaster Select.

I did not want to like it, but. . .

A high wattage heating element with good voltage regulation does not justify the price.The Technivorm Moccamaster is a drip coffee maker that has an industrial-artisan look about it, with an emphasis on the unseen parts (few as they may be).It almost has the feel of a product made in someone's garage.I do not consider this to be a negative, given the emphasis on today's products is often more about flash than substance--and mass produced flash is less costly to manufacture than a high quality product made in smaller numbers, in modest (maybe garage like) facilities.I really did not want to like the Moccamaster, per its unrealistic price. . . and went through several other machines before taking advantage of Technivorm's holiday discount.I even considered ... MoreA high wattage heating element with good voltage regulation does not justify the price.The Technivorm Moccamaster is a drip coffee maker that has an industrial-artisan look about it, with an emphasis on the unseen parts (few as they may be).It almost has the feel of a product made in someone's garage.I do not consider this to be a negative, given the emphasis on today's products is often more about flash than substance--and mass produced flash is less costly to manufacture than a high quality product made in smaller numbers, in modest (maybe garage like) facilities.I really did not want to like the Moccamaster, per its unrealistic price. . . and went through several other machines before taking advantage of Technivorm's holiday discount.I even considered modifying the most recent return, the Capresso mg900, in an attempt to make better use of its 1200 watt coil.I liked the subtle thoughtfulness that went into the design of the mg900: the basket's handle actuated locking mechanism, the removable reservoir (and its handle), along with its more obvious footprint and 50 ounce capacity.The superfluous clock and programming circuits, however, I considered unnecessary.Also, the mg900 wetted the grounds more evenly than the most skilled barista could accomplish in a hand pour-over.And while some complained about the carafe (shared with the mg600) having a flimsy feeling, the glass was thicker than most--this includes the Moccamaster's more "delicate" carafe.The mg900, while "ideal" in so many ways, was unable to generate/maintain the required heat to produce the ideal cup (at least for my taste buds).Prior to the mg900, I flirted with the Cuisinart DCC-4000, the Brim 8-cup pour over, and the Motif Essential.The Brim proved to be well built and consistently made good coffee, however I was (am) too lazy to deal with an integrated basket/carafe design.So, what did I think of the end product from the Moccamaster?It surpassed my expectations and produced a better cup of coffee (per my taste buds) than the Brim, which in my book earns 2nd place.As a manufactured product, the Moccamaster has an unrefined mechanical character: one has to carefully align the carafe to reduce contact between the coffee entering the carafe and the surrounding air, and the wand/shower head could be easily redesigned (and retrofitted to current day models) for more even distribution of water over the grounds.I do not see the cost of the parts as justifying the expense of the Moccamaster.I paid for a personal pleasure and feel kind of foolish about supporting the "quality has (almost) no price" myth.It's a coffee maker, made from readily available parts.It makes excellent coffee, but must question the "real world" quantifying of its retail price.As for Technivorm's recommended coffee grounds/water ratios: I have been using comparable ratios for many years and find them to be spot on.I hope the Moccamaster serves me and those with whom I share its "fruits" for many years.

Marmuro Europe is dishonest.

I ordered this product from Marmuro Europe. When I received the product I was surprised to find that it had a European plug instead of a UK plug. As I ordered it on Amazon UK, I assumed it was a UK Plug. There were no pictures or mentions of plugs on the product information page. As the voltage was appropriate, I assumed it would be a UK plug. I purchased the product from Marmuro Europe, because they had what I was looking for. Not the cheapest, but the color and model I was looking for. After discovering there was an incorrect plug, I tried to return the product. I got the address to send the product to, and carefully put that address on the box to return it. Nice color, but poor design

I have used a Moccamaster for years and chose to buy a new one only to get a color change. This newer version, however, has a different design for the carafe. The glass feels less sturdy, and replacing it is such a tight fit that you have to get the angle correct to return it securely to the warming plate. I often have to jiggle the carafe to get that angle, which increases the likelihood that I will break it one day. The lid is now hinged to the carafe handle, making it awkward to empty the pot. Even the plastic holder for the coffee and filter does not glide in smoothly as the one in my old Moccamaster did. Overall, I feel like this redesign of the old model sought to reduce costs and assumed customers would tolerate the flaws needed to achieve the price point. ... MoreI have used a Moccamaster for years and chose to buy a new one only to get a color change. Overhyped

We have this machine for about a year now. I do like it's minimalistic look. It does the job of making coffee but not more. I did an extensive research before purchasing this and the last hint was a friend's raving review. I was previously brewing with V60 by hand and hoped that this would be somewhat not too far. But I was wrong. The coffee it brews is ok, it's quite smooth and pleasant but with no clarity and aroma of the hand brewed. To be honest- filling the tank, putting the grinds in putting the fiddly filter and cover on seems not much less work than brewing by hand. The problem is that it has no blooming stage so it just spays water like every other machine for 19 euros. Leaving the bed very uneven. Shipping and Delivery was flawless.We have always used pods and finally made the decision to up our game as we were spending alot of money on take away coffee. We start work early so drive through coffee spots loved our business.We prepare our machine the night before, get up in the morning and turn on the machine. By the time we are dressed the coffee is ready and we pour it into our thermo cups to take in the car.The machine is super quiet too - you can barely hear it and it doesn't wake anyone else.The heating plate is awsome, especially on slow lazy mornings at home.
