I use Moleskine journals exclusively//daily and am so happy that Blick always has them in stock. The weight of the paper is perfect for writing, collaging, and doodling making these perfect for multimedia artists or just journaling. I wish Blick offered a wider selection of colors, but this is great!! #sweepstakes

Moleskine classic books are alot of fun to work with - the paper is elegant but not so "precious" that you are afraid of making a bad drawing. The book itself has a very satisfying feel and weight to it, plus there is a handy pocket on the back flap to keep papers in. I especially like the way the paper in the classic books response to markers. Overall lots of fun and inspiration to be had with these books. Treat yourself!

I love this sketchbook! It has an elastic on the side to keep your sketchbook closed when you're not using it so the pages don't get damaged. The paper is one of the smoother papers I have had in sketchbooks, so pens and pencils work very well with it,pencils erase very cleanly. This paper is also on the thicker side, ehich is nice for ink mediums. You can use micron pens and you don't even see the pen on the other side of the paper,so you can use both sides of the paper. Lastly, the sketchbook comes with a little accordion pocket in the back to keep any loose papers.

The price is average but the quality is great, it is nicely assembled and glued. The journals lasts for a long time. The paper for the sketchbook is smooth yet soft at the same time, which means that graphite really penetrates into the paper. Inks and fountain pens also work nice on the paper, the ink does not go through unless you add a lot with a brush(in that case buy the watercolor version). The tone is warm white, leaning towards a khaki color which means that if you take it outside it will not hurt or tire your eyes under direct sunlight. Conte and charcoal work really nice but add fixative unless you want your conte or charcoal drawings to smear. Soft Pastel is not recommendable. The price is average, and I did wish Moleskine made one that is 100% cotton. ... MoreThe price is average but the quality is great, it is nicely assembled and glued. Soft Pastel is not recommendable. The price is average, and I did wish Moleskine made one that is 100% cotton. This ones are 25% cotton and the rest is wood pulp acid free paper, which means it will not yellow over time but cotton is better as it can last longer. Perhaps the cotton version would be called Art Journal.
Expensive, but you are getting what you pay for. I will only write in Moleskine Classic Hardbound Notebooks now and I do not regret this decision. Yes, they are pricey. They are well above my pay grade, but you know what? Totally worth it. I would buy them in bulk if I could. You are not just getting a notebook, you are getting a piece of history. Something lives within these pages and it is inspiring to be connected to some of the greatest artists and writers of our time. I am so glad they are in production and I hope they last a thousand years. [Pairs great with Sakura Microns]. #sweepstakes
I was hesitant to pay for a notebook/sketchbook with a price tag over $15, but I wanted to try it once and see what was all about. At first sight, it's not impressive at all, but when I started drawing on it, I really enjoyed how the pencil moved, how easy is to erase on it without damaging it quickly. I've worked with graphite and color pencils and so far, I've loved every minute spent on it. I have to be honest, is the first sketchbook I'm filling at this pace. Of course, I've made the leap from average sketchbooks to this one, maybe I'm just starting to know something with better quality. Anyway, I'm really excited with it !
I love a new Moleskine and every single time I try to go for the cheaper knock offs I regret it. I have to make my way through the whole journal before going back to the Moleskine - which is my punishment for not going for the Original in the first place just to save a couple of bucks! The paper is smooth and often holds up to layers of pen before bleeding through. If you try to erase too much the color of the paper sometimes fades where you erased, so watch that, and over time the elastic band stretches to the point of no return... otherwise, they are just so nice to work in. The best price I have found continues to be BLICK.
Generally I love Moleskine sketchbooks - I own several - however the paper in this one is SO thin that I can't use it for what I had hoped (sketching & drawing). It is near see-through and wrinkles at the touch. I thought I read the descriptions carefully, but the weight of the paper did not stand out to me as different than what I had purchased here before. Even so, I can't imagine any artist purposely wanting to sketch on this paper. The review is for the sketchbook only, not the site. Dick Blick is wonderful and I'll continue buying my art supplies here, but I would not buy this particular moleskine again.
I use this notebook for sketching and drawing, and so far it's been workin' pretty well! The notebook as a whole is super snazzy and looks really nice, and the quality of the notebook is top notch👌🏻! Even if I use sharpies and alcohol based markers it doesn't bleed through onto the next page. The only downside I've noticed so far is how markers sometimes react to the paper. When using too much ink of a mid toned marker, the ink starts to make a dotted pattern, and I can't figure out why. It's not that huge of a problem though, since it's not all that noticeable unless you really focus on the dots.
Because the paper is thin and floppy and the covers are weak and floppy, old pages will get bent, wrinkled, or warped while you are working on new pages. Also personally I don't like the feel of the paper on my hand. It's very thin by the way. The paper that is.To me it seems they sell because the brand name sounds interesting. But the real paper pros - - Canson, Strathmore, Hahnemuehle, and more - - these guys know paper better.
