First of all I would never have considered buying a soupmaker until a friend praised them so much I thought I would buy one. I looked at several and decided I wanted a clear bodied one so I could see whats going on inside. The clear ones were all glass bodied ones and were all way too heavy. The other thing I wanted was a freestanding jug one as opposed to the ones that sit on top of a motor base. The reason for this is that the freestanding jug type take up less storage space. This leads me on to the Clarity soupmaker. I saw it first in a newspaper review of soupmakers and it came out top. It was just what I was looking for being clear plastic so was a much more acceptable weight and the right jug style I wanted.I have so far only used it once so cannot comment ... MoreFirst of all I would never have considered buying a soupmaker until a friend praised them so much I thought I would buy one. It was also very quick and sat firmly on the worktop, sad I know but it was interesting this first time watching the process. I must admit I thought there was no way all the vegetables would have been cooked in the program time but they were perfectly. One thing I hadn't realised was the number of recipes that call for sautéing, this model does not have that function so a saucepan is necessary if you wish to do that.I do not think you need to saute and can skip that part and put it straight in the jug. It's personal choice. All in all well impressed so far.

Makes making soup easy

Honestly, I bought it because of the TSO pricing, as not over the top for a very handy gadget. I love soup and eat it pretty much every day. Making big pot loads and freezing has been my previous method, but to be honest, I like my soup fresh. No doubt not being able to sauté bacon, onion and / or garlic, does make a difference to the overall flavour, so I will pick flavours that are ok without the need for the oomph of sautés, and enjoy a couple of days of fresh soup each time. I am not fussed about sautéing when i don't want the fuss. But, will use a separate pan to sauté when I have time and want more oomph in the soup. It saves having to make big batches to freeze, and if you want smooth, saves having to blend and use another piece of cooking apparatus. It saves having to make big batches to freeze, and if you want smooth, saves having to blend and use another piece of cooking apparatus. I have just allowed half an hour before lunch, put what I want straight into the pot, added some stock, pushed the button, and then add cream and / or seasoning and lunch is served. And, stays hot enough to go back and fill my cup for more, as I eat soup from a cup while I work. Pulled a late nighter, and it was freezing, so threw on a basic soup and that was perfect. If you forget to make lunch, or don't have lunch ingredients, you could take it to work and a container of veg's and packet of stock or even just powdered stock and make fresh soup there it is so easy. Handy for any novice cook in the house to be able to look after themselves. Takes up hardly any room. I love mine. The cord is a bit loose and had trouble to first time getting it started, so now make sure the cord is supported. This may have been why another reviewer had issues. All in all. Love it, handy gadget, makes making soup easy for a basic on the run, when you want a quickie warm soup, and yes, if you want the sauté and beefier flavour, you do have to cook that separately and add in. I just add a touch of chilli for that extra flavour hit.!! I am very happy with mine.

Makes nice soups. Reasonably priced

This unit is simple to use and quick to deliver the finished soup. Having used it 4 or 5 times so far, one occasion it stopped because the vegetables got burnt onto the heating element and the unit's heat cut-out stopped it. It's not happened since, and it's not obvious what can be done to stop this happening again.Whilst it has a cleaning mode, it's not that good and we still have to hand wash the parts to get them properly clean. There's only a few recipes provided, but many online which can be adapted to suit your needs. Like most soup makers it makes enough for 4 in each run.

We absolutely love it especially because the only additives are the ones you put in! Just chop up a few vegetables (you can add meat if you wish, see lots of recipes online) throw them into the soup maker, add water, a stock cube/herbs/spices, switch on & 20 minutes later you have your very own delicious soup, chunky or smooth. We did try fruit for smoothies but it did not cope too well with the chopping of fruit, it is essentially a soup maker. There is a self clean programme & it is quite compact, the size of an electric kettle so easy to store. It is the perfect size for us & makes a generous portion for 4 people.

I bought this purely on the Which review. The issue I have is that once the glass container is full of the veg etc., it's hard to actually put the lid on as the blades often won't go through the veg so you can't turn it on until you've managed to work it through. Ofcourse I might be missing something here in how it works but don't think I am.The other issue is that you it has a minimum liquid line; the smallest batch you can make is 4 servings. I knew about this this but didn't expect it to be 1300ml! This is making the soup thin and watery, which means I have to supplement it to add taste; whereas the whole idea was to use just fresh produce and nothing artificial. That said, if you want to make larger batches, and you can manage to get the lid on and the blade ... MoreI bought this purely on the Which review. Soup makers are generally a great invention. Just add your ingredients, peel and roughly cut your vegetables, and add diced meat or mince (if you prefer) and these soup makers do the rest by heating and blending. The lid can’t be removed easily with one hand like the earlier model. There are fewer operating buttons than the earlier model. Whilst on blending mode it does not count the seconds like the previous model did.The pouring spout is not covered by the lid like the previous model. The Clarity version also does not make soup very smooth unlike the model before it. The previous model would blend often during the making of the soup, the Clarity model only blends twice during the cooking process, one short blend burst near the start of the process and another short burst towards the end.Instead of the soup being baby food smooth it now comes out rather grainy, much like rice pudding is. It no longer makes food such as peas or corn super smooth in your soup.Because it doesn't blend the soup as often the chances of foods sticking or burning on the cooking plate greatly increases. Also it does not like you lifting the lid to sample the soup as that will stop it from keeping the soup warm! In fact it seems you can’t turn it back on until the soup maker cools down a little.Their older model beeped loud enough when the soup was cooked, however the Clarity soup maker does not do this, (or if it does it’s certainly not loud enough for me to hear in the next room.)Considering how good their older soup maker was this newer clear model is quite disappointing.Morphy Richards definitely have gone backwards with this model. No self clean function only a pre-clean function and the bottom cooking plate is no longer coated with a non stick Teflon substance. The manual states it is not dishwasher safe, that food may burn to the heating plate, but that it’s is easy to clean. I argue that.In fact cleaning cups and bowls is far easier than cleaning this soup maker!Cleaning the blade and lid is awkward and it’s heavy too. The jug is bulky and the heating plate is very difficult to clean especially given that the manual states not to use a metal or steel cleaning pad. I used a rough plastic scrubbing pad (as manual recommended) and it took me a good 20 minutes to get off food stuck to the cooking plate.I am only giving it 2 stars for the see through section is a really good idea, but apart from that they certainly have not advanced or improved their soup maker, in fact it seems they have gone backwards.

I bought this for healthy eating. So far I have made 6 different soups. They have all been excellent. I only have 1 issue and that is that the heating element on the bottom can burn with food sticking to it. A good example is the broccoli and cheese. This contains some milk so the liquid has a tendency to burn and so the unit cuts out. I had the same issue with leek sticking. For the first soup I mentioned had to empty the maker 3 times, clean the element, then refilll with the soup. It was very annoying. I am a trained ex chek so know all about cooking. So my tip is if you have to add milk, do it once the product is at boiling temperature. Also for items like the chopped borccoli, stir it manually every 2 mins till its boiling which is after about 6 to 8 mins. So ... MoreI bought this for healthy eating. Other than that one issue, the machine is great and makes amazing health soups.Ive bought a sup maker book and am making Lentil and Carrot today. Have made Pea and Ham, Tomato and Basil as examples.

Which magazine perfect score is well deserved.

After seeing the clarity soup maker received a perfect score from which magazine we were keen to replace our existing very heavy glass soup maker which had the dicing blades attached to the heating base. This made the soup sometimes burn onto the plate and therefore very difficult to clean as the blades were in the way.No such problems with the clarity soup maker. It is light and clearly visible. The blades being attached to the lid means that after taking the lazy option and auto cleaning the machine after use it just needs a wipe out and I can easily clean the base. The soups we have made have been piping hot and delicious. The photos show a pea and ham soup made from our Xmas gammon left overs and stock and two tins of mushy peas with a bit of the Xmas Stilton ... MoreAfter seeing the clarity soup maker received a perfect score from which magazine we were keen to replace our existing very heavy glass soup maker which had the dicing blades attached to the heating base.
