I recently had a series of bad experiences with Samsung S22 Ultras. Tired of false promises, heavily modified Android, and just broken functions, I got rid of it and grabbed this phone - well, last years model. Slow charging it better for the lifespan of the battery anyway, so I let it charge overnight.The big downsides is this thing scratches easily and it’s IS NOT waterproof at all. It’s water resistant, meaning I can get a little rain on it and no big deal; it falls into water and it’s toast. Luckily, I don’t use any phone near the sinks, toilets, or pools.I’ve had a lot a cellphones. For the money, this phone is highly impressive. Just get a case and screen protector to protect it from scratches and just don’t drop it.It’s unlocked, and you’re paying what other phones actually cost to make. Let that sink in. Other phones cost $400-500 to make, with a near 250% markup. You’re getting a snappy fast phone minus an expansive screen super cameras you’ll most likely not notice or need and wireless charging.The pros greatly outweighs the cons due to the price and not worth knocking any stars off. I highly recommend this phone for anyone who wants a larger format phone without breaking the bank.

The performance of this device is on par with a much lower end spec. The bluetooth module seems particularly terrible dropping connection regularly, music and calls stutter almost 100% of the time, quite often it fails to connect (or diconnect) annd the phone has to be retarted multiple times to get the bluetooth working again. The screen is not very good either, is not responsive and lags. This is inaccurate and no better than your finger. Overall, I think the only redeemeing qualities of this device are the battery life, and the fingerprint sensor. The battery life is great, lasting easily 2 days in one charge, and the fingerprint sensor is very responsive and accurate. Considering that is pretty awful at everything else it's been relegated to the emergency device drawer in my household.

I put a slim case around the body, and added a screen protector.Overall, excellent phone.

As a musician I store all my demos on the phone and am always pushing the storage envelope, having said this the transfer procedure did not transfer all my music which cost me a contract (Android problem?). The glass on the front scratches SUPER easily (is it even glass anymore?) My previous Motorola Stylus never needed a screen protector but this one got scratched the first day of use! (slight but still there!) Next issue is a speaker was removed so no more stereo playback from the phone (miss this a lot actually) and if I had known this in advance would not have purchased ... In my area 5G is very spotty in coverage so that capability will not do much for me where I am 90% of the time. Overall I am satisfied with this device but I feel I did not get an upgrade for the $$ compared to my previous Stylus. Having said all of this for the $$$ I doubt you can get a better 5G unit.

A brand new phone for $122.00 is hard to beat. After having this phone for a few weeks, I truly regret giving up my old 2020 Moto G Stylus. I should have saved my money. The bigger battery in the new stylus 5000mah vs 4500mah really isn't that great of an improvement. The screen on the 2022 model takes two or three taps to respond at times. The phone screen will freeze for a second or two from time to time, which is frustrating with a brand new phone that should be flawless I'm every way. My complaints are I cannot get the WIFI calling working and that is a very important feature to me as I live in rural area with generally poor signal even with the big carriers. and battery life is not great as I often cannot make it thru a full day and never two days as advertised. However that may be affected by the poor signal in this market so your mileage may vary. Reception is so so, but again that is a result of living in a poor signal area. Overall a solid phone especially in it's price range and I would buy it again and would recommend it overall. I do wish that there was a choice of operating systems other that Apple or Google as I feel that we give up too much privacy. I would love it if Motorola could do their own system limiting what Google can siphon off, and the ability to completely kill the Google assistant, especially if we could have a voice assistant without giving up our privacy. I have defaulted to not using voice at all rather than allow Google assistant to be active. I would pay extra to maintain my privacy.
My criteria when I bought this were: battery-saving display technology (OLED or something), latest Android (so that it will be supported for a while), 5G (for fast mobile internet, if/when available), and an audio jack (so I don't have to spend money on a Bluetooth headset).The phone meets all of these criteria. Though I have yet to see 5G ever to be available anywhere I'm traveling in Switzerland. (Could also be an issue with my data provider.) I was hoping to have an option like the dark clock display on the lock screen, like some Samsung phones have, but no dice. The software doesn't seem to be optimized towards the OLED display. (Then again, it's almost vanilla Android, which is also not wrong.) Maybe OLED helps when I have the podcast player running with the ... The battery does last quite long, even for a new phone. I usually charge it once every three days at this point (a month after purchase).It does feel cheap though. The backside is plastic, and power and volume buttons don't stand out much from the frame - difficult to find with your fingers. My old phone (same price range, but bought six years earlier) had an aluminum frame and more robust buttons - I miss that.The surface is quite slippery. A number of times, the phone just slid off my nightstand while I was sleeping. (Sleeping!) Maybe there was a message that would trigger vibration? I don't know. It certainly woke me up. Luckily, nothing happened to the screen, but I'll have to do something about that.
It's all relative to what type of phone one is coming from to get here. My job needs sped up an already increasing need to move on from my maxed out and ailing 2016 Samsung On5. This Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) is much faster, nicer and bigger. It borders on being a weapon in the hand. It takes some of the best pictures I've ever seen following a trip to the Kennedy Space Center. There was some bragging about the battery life potential, but I haven't seen it and suppose 48 hrs charge life is after you abandon it fully charged for that long. I saw it drop to near 50% over 10 hrs of lightly fiddling with it on and off and a few short calls. The instruction book, or sheet I should say is minimally helpful. First I struggled to figure out how to mute the ringer. After that, I was harassed by app notification sounds when the phone was not in use. Google was the worst offender, after shutting off the all notifications switch in Google, gmail was still sounding off. I finally discovered it's a two tiered, individual process, app and sub app.I am a Metro PCS customer and strongly advise you to shop around before dropping their asking price for this phone.Their upgrade price to this phone was the same as the over the counter to any buyer price at Best Buy 250. The catch, or offense, is that purchasing the phone unlocked from Best Buy netted me 2 additional Gig of memory-8 and double the storage space at 258 Gig. Not very existing customer nice in my opinion from Metro at 6/128.I did purchase a case and screen protector from the Metro PCS store after Best Buy missed the delivery date of those items following waiting a week. The Metro purchase was not a pleasant experience. The sales rep would not tell me the price of a single case among 3 offered, until after I selected one, suggesting he was trying to maintain leverage, by being able to give me his desired minimum price no matter what I chose. Interestingly, I had to get the BBB involved after my initial purchase of the old phone from a Metro PCS store, when the rep signed me up for a different and more expensive plan than what I clearly stated I wanted.Do your homework before you buy.
