I spent hours and hours researching the "best budget motherboard for the new ryzen chips" and in the end bought this. Why? Might you ask, as this surely isn't a budget option? The reason being that there seemed to be lots of issues with B450 motherboards (the cheap budget option) not BIOS updating properly and having comparability issues with the new ryzen chips. So why choose the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge?At the time of purchasing there was a fantastic deal on the motherboard, the price was very competitive and for the assurance that it would "just work" out of the box with a new ryzen 3700x it seemed like the most sensible option, for a brand new x570 chipset motherboard. There are loads of benefits of choosing this motherboard over cheaper options;PCI ...Ā MoreI spent hours and hours researching the "best budget motherboard for the new ryzen chips" and in the end bought this. Why? Due to the design of the box, there's nothing protecting the top of the motherboard other than the outer box, so when mine arrived the outer box had a dent in. A piece of hard card or foam on top of the motherboard on the inside of the packaging would have helped alleviate this issue. All in all i'm very happy with this motherboard and feel that in hindsight, it was probably worth the additional cost of an older B450 motherboard for the added features and the fact it works with the new ryzen processors without any additional updates.

Iāve been building PCs since the 90ās and this motherboard seems to be the worst Iāve ever dealt with. So far itās literally blown up 2 Corsair RM850 power supplies, refused to do anything consistently with a EVGA 650 power supply, and is now seemingly posting ok with a brand new EVGA 850. I even bought a second board at Best Buy think maybe it was a dud, that board is the one that blew up the second power supply and I returned those two items. After now getting my the board to post. The BIOS refused to updated on multiple attempts, but after a miracle of resetting it loaded a new BIOS. This supposedly (Per MSI) allowed me to load my shiny new Ryzen 9 5900x. After spending more time that necessary on the phone with MSI customer service, they suggested I go ahead and load Windows to see if it picks up the Ryzen 9??? Really?? First this is a Linux build, secondly if the board doesnāt know what chip is in it, why would the OS think any different? After that genius insight, MSI said I should get another motherboard to see if it detects it!?!? If that doesnāt work I should call AMD and discuss running the serial number with them?? I canāt imagine how suggesting I get hold of another board is a proper customer service angle, let alone push blame to the chip maker. (Especially when I had a computer repair service test and run the processor after the first and second power supply explosion, to make sure my freaking expensive chip was ok). Never the less MSI can stick, if I do buy a different board it wonāt be MSI. Never ever had this much trouble with hardware ever in my life.

Great motherboard at a great price! I wanted to get a PCIE gen 4 compatible board, and this board is less expensive than most b550 motherboards with WIFI, so I decided to go for it. It was supposed to take two seeks to ship, but it showed up in just four days. The chipset and fan seem to be pretty good, and the other fans in my system completely drown out the chipset fan's noise. The one problem I did have was that the top m.2 slot does not support sata m.2 drives, so I simply had to move the drive to the bottom slot. The metal heatsink over the IO and VREFs looks absolutely stunning, although it does not have RGB. I didn't expect it to, but some of the pictures on other reviews made it look like that heatsink did. The RGB on the back of the board looks really neat, ...Ā MoreGreat motherboard at a great price! This was the first proper upgrade to my main gaming system since I built my x58 system (components also purchased from scan all those years ago!), and I have to say I'm impressed with the build quality of this motherboard. I have built plenty of other systems but these have been for more budget gaming or htpc use.I was originally going to go for a b450 or x470 motherboard but prices for those crept up as stock became an issue following the ryzen 3000 launch. After a lot of thought I narrowed down the choice to this or the Gigabyte Aorus elite. Finding out about the free cooler promotion MSI were doing with this board made the choice easier as it brought the value proposition more in line with x470 and higher end b450 boards.Being one of the lower end X570 boards ...Ā MoreThis was the first proper upgrade to my main gaming system since I built my x58 system (components also purchased from scan all those years ago!), and I have to say I'm impressed with the build quality of this motherboard. After a lot of thought I narrowed down the choice to this or the Gigabyte Aorus elite. Finding out about the free cooler promotion MSI were doing with this board made the choice easier as it brought the value proposition more in line with x470 and higher end b450 boards.Being one of the lower end X570 boards I was a bit worried MSI would have skimped on the features but from unpacking through to installing and using the board it feels premium. It has plenty of features including built in WIFI and Bluetooth, m.2 and sata ports, USB 3 including usb C and RGB. The integrated IO shield made installation a breeze and the device headers were placed in good locations along the edges of the board which made tucking cabling away out of sight easy. The bios is pretty easy to use and in the easy mode everything is laid out clearly and changing settings is as simple as dragging icons (to sort boot priority) or clicking (e.g. to enable xmp). For more advanced users there is an expert mode which unlocks more settings and allows for overclocking. The main negatives or changes id like to see with this board is there is no fan header close to the rear fan, the system fan headers are located along the bottom edge so to plug in there without the wire showing can be difficult if your case fans have short wires. Luckily the phanteks fan I have has a pretty long wire and even in a full tower I managed to route it around the back of the case but the corsair fan I had wouldn't reach without an extension cable. The other point isn't really a negative as people have different preferences but I would have liked to have seen a bit more RGB lighting on the board as even many of the cheaper B450 boards had RGB on the chipset heatsink and IO shroud. At least if the option was there then those who would want to use it could and those who don't could turn it off. I'm pointing this out as I originally thought there was RGB lighting in these locations as even in some of the advertising gifs/images you can see the lightning bolt looking areas changing colour but its simply a reflective sticker which changes colour depending on the angle its seen from.Once I had everything plugged in it booted first time and everything has been working without issue up to now. Overall I'm very pleased with this motherboard and would recommend it.

Iāve also heard good comments about MSIs BIOS interface, and even whilst Iām still learning what the items mean, I found it understandable and nice to look at!Another feature I appreciate is the built in WIFI, that opens up the extra possibility of allowing the PC to be moved around the house, or to easily connect to a friendās WIFI with few problems. Equally I enjoy my sound and looking at what MSI have done with the Nahimic 3 audio solution (theyāve separated the audio components and circuit traces away from the other items to reduce interference) was particularly appealing.Overall, I am very pleased with my new board and pushing it to itās limits as my PC building career progresses!
Future proofing of a product is essential for me as I only upgrade every 5-7 years. Iāve literally just come from an LGA1155 (i5-3570k) build which I built in 2012 so I wanted this build to last an equally loing time.I decided to go for a 3700X and an MSI X570 Gaming Edge Wifi motherboard. The most important aspects for me in choosing this board were;PCI-e 4.0 ā Whilst my GTX980Ti may not really utilise 4.0 currently, Iām aiming for this board to be relevant for 5-7 years, which means GPUās within this time frame will definitely make use of this feature.M.2 Gen 4 ā My current 2.5ā SSD is long overdue an upgrade and a decent M.2 is going to be on the cards very soon. Having the latest standard means I can buy one of the latest M.2 drives that will last me a long time.Native Ryzen Gen 3 Support ā No need to flash the BIOS like a B450 chipset board!Crossfire Support ā GPUās re getting very expensive, and my next GPU is likely to be a 5700XT. Itās nice to know that if I donāt like the future single card offerings, I can simply purchase another 5700XT to provide some extra horsepower.FlashBIOS Button ā Should I ever need to (if a new Ryzen generation comes out) itās nice to know I can use a USB stick and the Flash BIOS button to update the BIOS myself prior to installing the CPU.Now thatās the āfuture proofingā aspects out of the way, the other neat features that I really like are things that I didnāt even know existed, nor did I even know I needed them such as addressabel RGB support for fans via fan headers and Mystic Light. This obviously wasnāt a thiung back in 2012 but itās actually brilliant and really easy to use, the GUI is quite intuitive! I bought some RGB Corsair RAM and currently using my RGB Wraith Prism CPU cooler and changing the lights gives a great atmosphere inside the case. The heatsink cooling is also great and nice and quiet. Motherboard fans seem to get a bad rep but I never had any problems with the one on my Sabertooth Z77 so Iām more than happy for the additional air cooling on on this motherboard too. If it extends the life of the motherboard then Iām all for it.Another great feature is the built in Wifi, it may sound stupid but itās actually quite useful for me when I want to plug the PC into my 4K TV downstairs, I donāt have to mess around with powerlines and ethernet cables, the WiFi actully picks up a pretty decent signal and serves its prupose when itās not plugged directly into the Ethernet in my study.Overall Iām pretty happy with the motherboard so far, itās a quantum leap from my previous LGA1155 board in terms of built in features and at the moment I canāt honestly think of a negative feature. I havenāt attemped any overclocking of my RAM or CPU yet so Iām not sure what itās OCāing capabilities are but Iām sure theyāll be sufficient for my needs of achieving a mild overclock. The BIOS is nicely laid out too.I guess if I had one negative itās the packaging. My Sabertooth Z77 LGA1155 packaging felt really premium, where as when you open the box for this motherboard it fees pretty basic. It sounds silly but itās just that initial āfeelingā or āexperienceā you get when initially unboxing a product should be really exciting, the packaging can make or break this experience. If I was to suggest a few improvements it would be to make the packagaing feel more premium and to also add native DisplayPort for onboard graphics (via CPU) instead of just HDMI. This would provide more flexibility, especially considering more and more are purchasing 144Hz+ monitors which require DisplayPort to exploit those higher end frequencies.
Major issue with the X570 chipset, in my opinion, from ALL manufacturers. I just returned TWO MSI MPG X570s, this September 2021. After reading reviews regarding the ASUS X570, which I considered, thinking it was an MSI board problem, I read the same DEAD ON ARRIVAL issues, in the reviews. Both companies reply they have quality control measures. After trying to figure out why I couldnt get my board to start, searching online comments, reviews and YouTube vids, it is clear there is a demonstrated issue with this chipset. I now have a Ryzen 9 I cant return, which I wanted for this chipset. What can I do? 1st issue: YOU MUST USE BOTH 8pin and 4pin CPU connections on the board. (Researching the internet will give incorrect info about not needing the 4 pin, but you do.) In fact, the Quick Start Guide illustrates to connect both CPU power cables. I connected monitor to onboard HDMI port and did not install graphics card. Installed thr CPU, memory, etc and started computer for the first time on both boards and neither would post, but a (RED CPU light error). Just does nothing thereafter. NOTHING. After reading the Quick Start which shows to connect the 8pin CPU power and the extra 4 pin power, the CPU light error went out. NEXT, with CPU light resolved, a RED VGA error light persists and both X570s do nothing more. NO VIDEO at all; NO WAY to see the bios splash screen. 2nd: I went to MSI site, chose BIOS version and updated the BIOS EXACTLY as instructed in the MSI manual, and as also explained by MSI- made, video- links on the MSI site for this X570 board. AS instructed, I renamed the BIOS file to MSI.ROM (which will be a different name for ASUS or Gigabyte, etc.)and copied onto a FAT32 clean thumb drive. According to the manual, you do not need the CPU or memory installed to update BIOS, but both CPU power cables must be connected, although the MSI manual states to connect only the 8pin, youll get the CPU light error, without both the 4pin and the 8pin connected. Next, turned on PSU power switch, but didnt start computer, as instructed. I inserted the USB and pushed in the FLASH BIOS button. It starts flashing red lights (behind the faceplate) and the USB also flashes as it reads, as explained in the manual and videos; 10 -15 minutes later, MB restarts itself and VOILA! Again: No video and same persistent VGA error and no video to see BIOS. Unbelievable. 3rd: No explanations in the manual how to resolve; website instructs what I did on BIOS update. Instructions provided on MSI manual and website and I assume other X570 manufacturers, instruct you to do what I did, checking CPU seating, which is not needed to Post. You are on your own. Regarding the PSU: Be careful to select the correct PSU with two CPU connections. After careful consideration, I chose the CORSAIR RMx Series RM850x CP-9020180-NA 850W. It has the necessary power cables. What board do I pick for my Ryzen 9-3900X (3rd Gen Matisse)? HELP!
Could not be happier with this motherboard. Worked right out of the box with my Ryzen 3700X, no issues booting, setting fan curves, navigating BIOS, etc. However, getting my Corsair RGB Pro memory to run at the advertised 3200Mhz required enabling XMP, but worked perfectly after a restart. Also, another bonus is the chipset fan operating on a fan curve. Unless you're using PCIe4.0 or your case has extremely poor ventilation, it won't turn on. This helps alleviate one of the major pain points for buying X570 - chipset fan and price. If anyone is considering buying X570 versus X470 or B450, this was my thought process while upgrading from a i5 6600k running on a Z170 motherboard. Worked right out of the box with my Ryzen 3700X, no issues booting, setting fan curves, navigating BIOS, etc. However, getting my Corsair RGB Pro memory to run at the advertised 3200Mhz required enabling XMP, but worked perfectly after a restart. This helps alleviate one of the major pain points for buying X570 - chipset fan and price. If anyone is considering buying X570 versus X470 or B450, this was my thought process while upgrading from a i5 6600k running on a Z170 motherboard. The major factor was cost as this is a solid motherboard for an exceptionable price given other more expensive X570 options and similarly priced X470 options, but I'll list everything below. 1. Cost - My budget for upgrading to a Ryzen 3700X IMO justified spending around the $200 range for a compatible motherboard. While I could save a bit by going to a B450 motherboard, I found that this motherboard was comparable to similarly-tiered X470 motherboards and had everything I needed, while other X570 motherboards were significantly more expensive. 2. Chipset fan - Huge pain point as this would be another point of failure and a major source of noise. However, as I mentioned above, this became a non-issue as the chipset never went above the threshold to activate the fan (defaults to 55C or so to turn on). Even if it did, I never heard it. NOTE: My use case does not utilize PCIe4.0 which is run by the chipset. 3. PCIe4.0 - My use case doesn't need it as I'm running a GTX 1080 and not an RX 5700(XT) card, but nice to have in the future I guess? 4. Buyers remorse - If I'm upgrading to a new AMD Ryzen 3000 build from Intel, why not spend the initial $50 or so over an X470 or B450 motherboard? AM4 would continue to be supported as long as AMD holds true to their promise so that premium I pay now would be spread over the next couple years instead of feeling the need to upgrade from B450 or X470 within a year. Overall, can't go wrong with this motherboard no matter what AMD CPU you buy. Highly recommend, especially at the price point.
It is great motherboard but they "MSI" have upgraded the board in September 2021. That's compatible with 5600x processor 4th generation and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I have a problem with the MPG x570 gaming edge wifi that came out in 2019. The main problems are with the bios and windows 11. Mine is stuck at the bios password. Eventhough I entered the right password for bios it will not except it. I have tried everything but nobody has any clue. I think if I get the new bios and updated it using the bios button. I love the motherboard but windows beat me. Best Buy doesn't have the new board yet but I talked with an agent who said they would be getting the new motherboards for next week. I read/watched a lot of reviews about this specific motherboard. It was a lot of back and fourth with praise and complaints. After I was initially concerned and pulled the trigger, I can tell you the worst thing to worry about with this board is the WiFi speed if youāre going to rely on that for your connection (depending on how much bandwidth you get from your isp) and VRM heating if youāre overclocking beyond stock speeds or using anything more than a 3900X. I get, at most, 250mbps using the built in Wifi while being about 10 feet from the router; My WiFi USB adapter, in comparison, normally takes advantage of at least 600mbps of my 1gbps Connection. Needless to say, I went back to using my AC1900 USB adapter. If you plan on overclocking or getting any of the 12 ...Ā MoreI read/watched a lot of reviews about this specific motherboard. Needless to say, I went back to using my AC1900 USB adapter. If you plan on overclocking or getting any of the 12 core + Ryzen models, you most likely will never experience any of the VRM heating complaints you read about this board. Yes, the they could have done better with the VRM cooling solutions, but at stock speeds using a evo 212 black edition air cooler with 1 intake + 1 exhaust case fan, I donāt get anywhere near the commonly complained about temps. The final verdict from all my research - as long as youāre not overclocking or using anything more powerful than a 3900X, this board wonāt cause heating issues and the better your case cooling the more you can ignore those complaints. I got this board because I have only used MSI for all my past builds and never once had a single issue with them. This continues that trend so far after several days of constant use, I can say Iām very pleased I pulled the trigger and would recommend to anyone whose looking to get future proofed entry level X570 board and avoid biosflash.
