It’s a good size, fit a lot of diapers. We’ve only ever needed to change the bag once a day at night. Does trap smell, unless you open the lid and it releases some of the odor then you’ll smell it but it doesn’t last. Open a window. I hated this thing through because it was so cheaply made. The front door after a few months began to open with any movement. So we had to keep pushing it back in. The lid would make a HORRIBLE cranking/grinding noise when closing after a few diapers were inside. I hated this because it would wake the baby up. After a year of use, the top won’t even close all the way. It remains slightly open and there’s no way to close it anymore so odors escape more. Will be trashing and never looking at this pail again.

This may seem excessive but we bought 3 of these for our newborn. We had purchased one from another retailer and it filled up rather quickly. We decided it would be convenient to have one in our living room, bedroom (where bassinet is) and our daughters bedroom so we ended up purchasing 2 more. We go through a lot of diapers (daughter is now 8 weeks) so I would definitely recommend stocking up on the refills or the pails. We plan to have another baby soon so these will definitely be worth the investment. The odor refills are a must, too.

I love this diaper pail and would definitely recommend it to others looking for one. I love that there’s a step to make opening it super easy when handling poopy diapers. I was skeptical when reading other comments before purchasing about having to manually close the lid. However, this never bothers me as I found there are gears inside that twist the bag shut when closing the lid to lock in any smells. So far, I have not had an issue with smells and can only smell the freshness of the arm and hammer disk. The pail is super easy to use, durable and clean. The only thing I would change about this diaper pail is the material as I wish it was stainless steel and not plastic! Perfect for my nursery!

I was excited to get this diaper pail cause I’ve used a litter genie for my cat and it’s so helpful having a contained device like this for smelly odors. This diaper pail is a nice container but it definitely feels like plastic (which it is) - but it feels very flimsy. The door pops open a lot when stuffing diapers in and that’s annoying. When stepping on the pedal, the lid flips open and also feels flimsy, like wobbly. I wish the material of the container was a little more sturdy/heavy feeling. You have to manually push the lid closed and it’s very loud when you do - which is not a big deal but a little unpleasant during night changes. In general I wish they made this with slightly better material to make it feel higher quality, especially for the price. It does ... Secondly, you have to shove your hand inside the opening in order to throw away the diaper… not sanitary. Also makes a horrible cracking/grinding sound that scares baby when you close the lid, unless the diaper is shoved far down (which again has to be done with your hand going through the narrow opening.. rubbing against your wrist and going up your arm). It worked fine for the first few months (I’m guessing because new born diapers are smaller and newborn poop has little odor) But after a while the diaper pile makes this awful sound when it closes or it doesn’t close at all. It doesn’t keep odor trapped; my nursery is always smelling awful because of it. We had to start wrapping the diapers in plastic grocery bags before putting into the diaper pale to alleviate some of the smell. For this price, or any price, I am very disappointed. The product does not work as it’s intended too. I would not recommend.
We were gifted one but I would never buy this. The lid is loud and, as other reviews mention, really is hard to close. If you watch the video the product video and look closely when the lady is shutting it you will see it! I also hate that I have to use my hands to shut the lid. Defeats the purpose of a step diaper pail in my mind. It is nice that it fits standard diaper pail inserts - not locked into their brand only for replacements. Also, it does hold many diapers but there is a lot of wasted space inside.

I went down a rabbit hole (you know, postpartum hormones) trying to figure out which diaper pail was the best, obsessing over negative reviews, worried my whole house would reak of poorly-deodorized baby feces... but I chose right and this thing works. It worked with newborn diapers and still works with size 5s. There are people who complain about having to push the diaper through the hole and getting diaper goo on their hands. Also, the deodorizer is a nice touch, probably not necessary, but a light, non-nauseating lavender scent that I've grown slightly attached to. This may or may not also work for cat poop.
Ok…. Writing this review because I hadn’t yet used it (we are discarding newborn diapers in a normal trash can in our room) and I had family coming to visit (back in NOVEMBER) it’s FEBRUARY. They used it to discard their 2 year olds poppy diaper and the pail has been sitting in the nursery closed. I’ve spent lots of time in the nursery (cleaning, organizing, assembling crib) and NEVER ONCE smelt it!!! Yesterday, I decided to open the pail and pick it up- I swear it smelled like something had died in there. I have a very strong sense of smell, and in the many times I went to the nursery, I only caught it when I opened it and picked it up. So now I’m convinced this product will do its job! Docking off a star because the whole is narrow and you have to push diaper through.
