Really disliked, not like chopped tomatoes at all. Strange consistency between passata and chopped tomatoes without the advantages or flavour of either. I see that I am in the minority so maybe I got a bad batch but definitely would not buy again

We bought these tomatoes after reading all the rave reviews and can confirm they are delicious and much tastier than standard tins of tomatoes. They are not as nice as fresh tomatoes but have a nice texture and taste. Unfortunately the last batch we had was spoilt and we did not realise until after it had ruined the meal. The tomatoes smelt like old sick and it made the meal totally inedible and had to be thrown away. The tin looked OK and was well within date so no idea how this happened as we have never experienced this before with any tinned goods. I would therefore not risk buying this product again and would recommend others smell the contents before using just in case.

After seeing on a food show a few years back that all chopped tomatoes were basically the same tin with a different label I have been buying whichever were the best value. I do always check the label and the theory had held true. Most tins are very similar percentages of water and tomatoes. Not these though, they have the highest percentage of chopped tomatoes than any other brand I've come across. And it shows in the taste of my food. Much more flavour and far less water. My only issue is that I am now converted to only wanting to use Mutti tomatoes but they're triple the price of normal ones. Ocado seem to do well at tempting me with offers that I then want to continue buying once the offer has ended as the product is so good

This brand is, without doubt, the best tinned tomato I have ever tried. Reminds me of the sauce my Nonna used to make from fresh. No acidic taste so no need to add sugar and is perfect for a tomato-based sauce. Please do not waste on meat sauces. No need to cook the life out of it either - it's ready in no time. Had been looking for ages for a chopped tomato without tomato puree added., which most of even the high-brand suppliers now do. Biggest shock for me was not the price, but the fact that it is produced in Parma and not Naples, holy grail of the tomato. Manna from heaven Ocado - please keep in stock.
Once you have tried these Mutti tomatoes no others come anywhere close. The flavours from these tomatoes are amazing served on toasted ciabatta with rubbed garlic and a little olive oil it reminds me of breakfast with the Spanish locals! Not the cheapest but the quality is the best there is and I usually take advantage of the six pack offer. They make a very easy tomato soup and fantastic as a base in a cassoulet too.
Ive tried many brands of Italian tomatoes and for the most part they are no different to supermarkets own brand Italian tomatoes. Then I tried these and can honestly say they are in a different league, so much better. Ill stick with these from now on. Only grumble is the the can are sometimes difficult to open and on more than one occasion Ive had to dig out my old tin opener.
I found these a little lacking in flavour. They are indeed very finely chopped but that is the only thing I can say positive about them. Flavourless and if I am being really honest a victim of hype. I've bought other tomato brands with more flavour and depth.
These are the real deal. I will never go back to normal, tinned chopped tomatoes. I've used these Mutti tins in loads of dishes from bolognaise to curry to chilli - they definitely elevate the flavour and consistency of the sauce and also reduce cooking time - you don't have to wait to cook down the lumps in standard tins. Worth the extra money.
I adore tomatoes of all kinds and eat huge amounts every single day. This is the first tomato product I have not enjoyed in my life (apart from you know insipid old tomato slices in a cheap sandwich). I was really excited having 'splashed out' on a lauded make that is more expensive than my usual. First it is 'rustic passata' with lots of seeds and lumpy bits and not 'chopped tomato'. I also checked for sugar before writing this review as no matter how much salt I added there was a sweetness, no tang and no taste. Enough to marr a dish I was having these on the side of too add a bit of tang and texture.
I am glad these are on offer again. I have been trying to cut back and save money on the food shop. However so many tinned tomatoes we have tried are not very nice bland flavour or vinegar taste.So I won't be using the cheaper brands for tinned tomatoes. As soon as you open these the smell is lovely! I can make tasty soups and sauces at home so saves money that way.
