I've been hauling a Forza 300 with a 48" softbox back and forth every week when I film at our multiple locations and bringing a C-stand with the Forza 300 case and everything just got exhausting. I made the switch to the Compac 200 to make my life easier, being able to use a normal light stand. It's almost as soft as the 48" softbox but at a fraction of the size and a MUCH quicker set up time. It won't replace my Forza 300 in cinematic applications and I wouldn't try to use it outside but for normal stand-up type videos, it works great. I purchased an Arco Monitor Case for transport and it works great!

Basically a 3x1.5 soft panel... More powerful than you would think at 200 watt. Very soft.. with a grid it's a perfect top key. My issues were 3 fold: 1) The yolk is garbage. You can tighten all you want but it's still not to sturdy. 2) The fan makes noticeable noise. Enough to be annoying if it's close on coverage. 3) It's a pain to travel with. Gonna spend $150 on a bag for a $400 light.... no thanks... If I wanted this for a studio, it's a great light for tight space softness... but I would rather just bounce into cloth.

I purchased a pair of these Nanlite Compac 200’s to provide continuous lighting for my still photography studio setups combined with strobes. The Compac 200 is large and heavy, utilizing both metal and plastic construction. The light output is soft and broad —yet powerful, with its color temp rating of 5700K being spot-on throughout its 0-100% dimming range. I am giving the Nanlite Compac 200 a 3 out of 4-star rating due to it not being passively-cooled as stated in its description. There is a fan inside that cannot be controlled and, although fairly quiet, might prove to be a nuisance for anyone considering these for video.
