I was looking for a lightweight, cheap, bright RGB panel to add to my kit to add some versatility. I was mainly looking for something that was good enough in CCT that had a really stellar special FX mode, and given Gaffer and Gear's review of this product I thought I'd give it a shot, but I ended up returning it for a few reasons.Pros: Bright, lightweight, and cheap, especially considering it's closest competition is the Nova P300c.Cons: terrible +/- green in CCT mode. Not a huge con for me personally, the light didn't have any huge shifts one way or the other, but definitely not great for and RGBWW light.Beam angle is very narrow, not very good for washing out a set or background. The softbox helps, but you lose a ton of brightness. The biggest con IMO is actually the special FX. The only one that's really pretty good is the fire effect, and even then you can't dim it too much. The big flaw with the FX is the Red diodes in the light. They are MUCH brighter than the green and blue diodes. At least 2-3x brighter. This creates a huge perceptual "jump" between hues when the Red diodes turn on and off. It's not smooth at all, and completely ruins Hue Loop and Pulsing. Anything that uses Red diodes suffers from this problem. Say you've set your pulsing light to yellow - as it dims, it turns pure, saturated red. Unusable. Fire effect will do the same if you dim the light below 10%.The customizability of the FX is cool, but when the FX are that useless it doesn't really matter what you can customize about it. I do still vouch for the fire effect, it's really good, but again still has issues. It's not a terrible light, but I just feel for this price range there's so many better options. The only reason to get this light is if you're consistently needing a really great fire effect for cheap - and be honest, that's not you.

Another quality purchase from B&H. The light output of this panel is stunning.
Best bang for your buck, out of the current rgb Panels this seems to be the best value I have found. it’s very light Weight, It feels very sturdy and well made, the color output matches my sky panel very well. The hard/soft feature is amazing. I’ve only brought it on one job, but I was pretty happy. The negative is the Yoke is a little flimsy and has a natural sag which is unprofessional looking, and the high output mode requires the fan to be on a little louder then it should, but that being said the quite mode is bright enough for me. The only thing that might be a strong competitor for this unit is the Aputure panel but it will be heavier and more expensive, and who knows when it will actually come out. If you need a panel today and don’t want to break the bank. ... MoreBest bang for your buck, out of the current rgb Panels this seems to be the best value I have found. it’s very light Weight, It feels very sturdy and well made, the color output matches my sky panel very well. I have 6 of these now and just keep adding more. The color is spot on unlike many. The build quality is excellent. Make sure you get the soft boxes for them they are a great inexpensive addition. I did recently have a failure on two of them but Nanlite replaced them with brand new panels very quickly that I was impressed with the customer service as well.
For a small company I have a lot of lighting and this one is my new Fav. I have tried a lot of products and this one was designed with a lot of thought and care. Extremely high CRI rating first off, excellent features and power level options. Again the build quality is impressive and none of the cheap plastic as found on many other similar products. The carry or travel case that came with it is also well padded and designed for a product meant to last. Let's just say I bought two elsewhere when some of my Mole Richardson's needed the rare service and liked them so much I bought two more from B&H
I own a lot of lights, I mean I really have a problem. These are my favorites. they are versatile, really color correct with a great CRI, The Hard and Soft light functions give me the light source I need. 90% of the time I am shooting daylight but the color options are always great. I highly recommend the softboxes as well for them, which are also well priced. I recently had an issue with 2 of the 6 I own. Now anyone with a serious kit this happens, the difference was how well the Nanlite customer service handled it. They did not fix them, they sent me brand new replacements and did so in a timely manner as well. I have a ton of gear and these always go out with the days shoot kit.
I have tried so many products from cheaper things to commercial grade lights and these panels are just amazing for everyday use, the soft and hard light functions built in, the very high CRI. And most especially the build quality and even the soft cases they come with are obviously made for a product you will own for some time. I started with two of the 60 panels , then bought two of the 150s , and recently bought two more of the 150s. Solid equipment for a shooter who is on the road to locations more than 50% of the time. Make sure you get the softboxes for them, they really kick it up a notch.
Does this item perform as advertised? yes.Did Nanlite leave a bad taste in my mouth after paying this price? no, it's priced right.Would I recommend? already have
