A nice trip down Memory Lane.

All of the cars has a distinctive feel and weight to them. For example, cars like the Ford GT or the Dodge Viper, have better offroad speed due to their higher ride height vs a Porsche 911 GT3RS where it's ride height is much lowered and won't offer great offroad speed. The game campaign is split up into both Cops and Racers and each discipline has their own challenges and gameplay elements. Each offer, a nice reward and gameplay loop for both careers. And you can pick and choose what events you want to play first. If you own either the Xbox 1X, PS4 Pro, or even the newest consoles you can have the option to choose Visual or Performance mode. Selecting Visual will prioritize a more 4k display but it runs the game at 30fps. And selecting the Performance mode, will give the game a 1080p output but will run the game at complete 60fps. I selected the Performance mode option on my PS4 Pro and had no major issues of frame dropping or skipping due to the chaotic gameplay the game provides. What's included in this Remastered is additional DLC content, that were only available on the old consoles' versions of the game. It adds new cars to unlock and challenges to complete; which adds about 4 to 6 hours of extra content. Also, another great feature is the ability to cross-play with your friends across all modern gaming consoles. So, if you have the PS4 copy you can play with your friend that owns the Switch, PC, or even Xbox 1 copy. Also, the game's Autolog feature will track and record you and your friend's best times for each mission across all gaming platforms. The only issues I have with the game is the rubber-banding/catchup where the computer racers can instantly catch up to you, even after a major crash. Also, the hit detection of the cars and the police can be off at times. Lastly, online matches can show slowdowns and even lag if one persons does not have the best internet connection. However, despite these issues, the game is a nice fun and simple arcade racer that provides many hours of fun and even tense gameplay and at $40 provides a nice value to newcomers and veteran players that want a nice and familiar game.

I loved this game the first time around on Xbox 360, so this was a must-buy. The graphics do look better of course but you may need to compare with the original to really see the big differences. The lighting especially is from the older era of racing games and overall looks darker than newer NFS or other games in the genre.Having all of the original DLC is a nice touch since I didn't have that the first time, but the most compelling factor for this game is going to be the nostalgia. It's nice to go back to a time when there wasn't a story or other frills, just 'ole cops and racers. I enjoyed this game more than some that came before it, and others that came after it, like Rivals, but that's subjective.

I have been a Need for Speed fan since the very beginning, and I am happy to report that this remastered version of Hot Pursuit for Xbox One is one of the best iterations of this long-running series of arcade racing games. The graphics are much improved over the Xbox 360 version, and the game plays effortlessly on the Xbox One X. I don't own the latest version of the console, but I'm satisfied with the game, nevertheless. The game itself features enough cars and tracks and races to keep you engrossed for months, and you can choose to play the role of the police if you wish. It adds an extra dimension to the game as it allows you to chase and take down lawless racers! In short, this version of Need for Speed is a must-have for arcade racing enthusiasts.

Great Remaster of the Best NFS
24 November 2020

During a time where every game is suddenly having a remaster, NFS: Hot Pursuit's is a quality one that brings back the original feel and thrill of the game while enhancing its visuals. This version of the game includes the DLC from the original game and offers cross-play for online multiplayer. The feel of the cars are the same from the original and are super fun to drive. The visuals/sound effects are also great, particularly the rev of the engine at the outset when you select your car.Would highly recommend this game to people who were fans of the original, but also people who are disappointed with the recent NFS games in the series.

Great remaster of a classic
30 November 2020

Need for Speed is a great series in general, but Hot Pursuit has always been one of the series staple releases back since the early days. This PS3/360 era game was good, but at that time was stuck at 720p 30fps. This new "remaster" basically adds some higher resolution textures and a few tweaked lighting effects, but also gives you options for performance on the PS4 Pro. So on the base PS4 you get 1080p 30fps. On the PS4 Pro you can choose between a quality mode with a dynamic 4K 30fps frame rate or 1080p 60fps in a performance mode. The options are nice, and everyone will have their own preference. Personally I like the 4K mode being able to see far off into the distance to avoid cars or obstacles, but the fluid 60fps at 1080p is also a great way to play the ... MoreNeed for Speed is a great series in general, but Hot Pursuit has always been one of the series staple releases back since the early days. Personally I like the 4K mode being able to see far off into the distance to avoid cars or obstacles, but the fluid 60fps at 1080p is also a great way to play the game.Resolution aside, Hot Pursuit is all about the classic cops vs racers gameplay of earlier entries. You take missions as either acquiring new gear and vehicles as you go. As the police your objective is to stop racers using any method at your disposal, but usually by ramming them until their car is decommissioned. As the racer your goal is to win the race without getting stopped, but also by stopping your fellow racers. A few other missions pit you trying to get from A to B without taking damage. But for the most part this is a no-frills racer that is easily worth rebuying or just picking up if you didn't experience it the first time.My only gripe is that this game came out the week before current gen Xbox Series and PS5 consoles. So assuming you were able to grab one (like I was lucky enough to) there is no option to have enhancements beyond what the PS4 Pro offered. The PS5 should be able to output at 4K/60fps, but sadly as a budget $40 release I doubt EA will touch this. That said the game is still great and worth picking up.

Need for a different take-this isn’t it

For 20- I picked this up for xp points then upon playing I remembered why I forgot it.Racing should be fun not stressful pr push as hard as you can till the end of the race n one blink you lose n have to try againCop mode is a blast n a nice escape. Upgrade to 1/x is nice but feels unnecessary. Wish I had passes on this one for the 2nd go around.

Nostalgia revisited

I played this on the Xbox 360 about 9 years ago, one of the best titles out back then because it was made by Criterion Studios that made Burnout. Need for Speed games now are not good, I was not a big fan of Need for Speed Heat so when this came out I picked it up.This has a fresh coat of paint on it and looks really good. What made me realize how great this game is, is how satisfying the gameplay is. Takedowns, equipment, turbo.. Also the police are fair and balanced. Just being a racer or a cop is so satisfying when you win and getting Gold medals are not hard but do take effort. Criterion did a great job with Need for Speed. I highly recommend getting this title. There are no new cars put in. If you are ok with this then get the title, because this NFS is better than all recent generic NFS titles that have been coming out.

Im not sure if its me ,but having a real bad experance with Xbox controllers with my Xbox one S game console. I purchased two other Xbox controllers and im having the same issue. Its the double jump in all games. Im not sure if it's xbox software or its just junk period! I called Xbox support, and they said someone will return my call but i never received a call back from them. The performance of handling the xars is horrible. Im all over the street. I would skip this game on Xbox . But at the end of the day,its your decision. Good luck tho ! Lol ugh

A bit harder than I remember but, still just as fun :D. Remaster plays great with no glitches that I've run into so far. Although the driving mechanics do feel a bit old, clunky, and sometimes downright strange, I'm having a blast playing in the past. Especially for the price!
