The 4 is bringing back the super tough yet breathable mesh from the original version. The upper gets embellished with a Huarache-inspired strap and rubber-striped sidewall that envelops your heel to brace you for movement in any direction. Nike Free technology in the forefoot creates flexibility for agility moves and sprints. Stretch around the collar lets your foot move naturally as you burst, cut and brake. The wide heel creates a solid base for lifting. A softer foam core cushions your foot, while a firmer outer layer is durable and stable. Wide internal webbing distributes pressure around your midfoot for a comfortable yet locked-in feel during sudden stops and quick cuts. Rubberized logo at the tongue nods to the Huarache of the early '90s. Rubber tread in high-wear areas gives you durable traction.

thought his Metcon 2's were great, until he tried these. He now wants to order another pair. They are just so comfortable. They are a bit of a wider shoe but give you support

BRING BACK METCON FREE 3!!!!!I purchased these to replace my Metcon 3's and absolutely hate the 4's. They are way to tight around the foot (I have a very averaged size
foot in width). The opening to the shoe is the worst part about it. They moved the tab for the heel towards the middle of the back so it's not useful. The opening is much
smaller and a fitted distance around (there is no "tongue") so you have to slide your foot in, causing the back to fold, and then dig your finger underneath your foot to get the
back over your heel again. Awful design. Makes no sense at all. They also have less arch support, These are meant for training so I still need good arch support f... Show more

Decent shoes, but they are very tight in the ankles when you first wear them, which makes it difficult to put them on. Over time, they do stretch out a bit and I expect with
even more time, I expect they'll fit better once they've been broken in more. Even though they are a little tight, they feel very stable and secure while walking and running
and did not feel like they were going to slide off like some sneakers with looser ankles that stretch out over time. They're definitely comfortable, I walked around for the first
time in them for three hours and I had no foot pain or discomfort. There's a nice cushion in the soles. The color scheme on these is neutral and I felt comfortable... Show more

Great Training Shoes!
6 November 2021
I had been looking for training shoes for a good amount of time, but nothing seemed to be a good fit until the Metcon 4s. After wearing running shoes to do all my non-running training, the stability the Metcons brought to my jump roping and weight training was much better than what I was used to. I started wearing them daily, and they were not only comfortable for training sessions, they were also perfect for driving long distances, and doing normal chores. I would not recommend for long walking distances however as the cushioning isn’t as good as a traditional running shoe, but other than that they can handle most things. They look great and I’ve received multiple compliments from friends and family. One thing that could improve is the laces, however. There were times when the laces would untie randomly, and I felt like they could be a little longer. That said, I would definitely recommend these shoes to anyone looking for something other than a running shoe, as it is versatile enough to be used as a daily shoe!... Show more

Great versatile shoe but needs mid foot floor contact
20 September 2022
Pros - the shoe is extremely comfortable and cut well to the shape of my foot. It is the only shoe that fits my wide mid foot (flat feet). The midsole offers perfect balance of cushioning for cross training and lifting and even short runs, without being too soft. Stability is excellent with the wide heel outsole and great for heavy barbell lifts.Improvements needed - main ask is that you build the medial mid foot outsole support to have floor contact like the rest of the outsole. It’s the only part that doesn’t touch the ground and became a dealbreaker as it causes over pronation due to no support of medial mid foot / arches. Other suggestions - the upper could be more spacious and lighter. It’s thick and tight on the foot and gets hot and sweaty.Love almost all ... MorePros - the shoe is extremely comfortable and cut well to the shape of my foot. If you could fix the medial mid foot gap in the outsole, this shoe would be perfect. But without it it’s unwearable for me.... Show more

Great workout shoe
21 February 2022
Had the previous version and loved them, used for short runs and mainly gym time (lunges, squats, circuits with box jumps and side to side jumps, you name it). This version also holds up for everything in the gym while providing solid support on the sides, a little heel lift (nice for squats), and a hard surface to push from. Also comfortable for wearing around casually (opposed to standard Metcon or lifting shoe which is just too flat/hard for casually wear IMO). Can do shorter runs but recommend a real runner (like my pegs for this) for anything more than a mile or two. Hope Nike keeps going with the cross between Metcon and Free, I will keep buying and recommending! They are a little tight (I am usually an 11 and that is what I got for these) but that is kind of ... MoreHad the previous version and loved them, used for short runs and mainly gym time (lunges, squats, circuits with box jumps and side to side jumps, you name it). I love these shoes so much. My second pair!
13 May 2023
These are the best shoes for training. PERIOD. I love these more than the metcon 8. They fit well and perform incredibly when strength training, hiit and full on cardio. I can even sprint in these and they grip well and move well with my foot. It's true to size. You'll need a shoe horn to get in these babies though. I hope Nike keeps this one around and not change the look too much. These are just IT. ILL ALWAYS HAVE THESE!... Show more

It’s been a while since I brought a pair of sneakers to work out in. I was hesitant on because I really loved my others, plus I am picky, my foot is narrow and I have a hard time purchasing a sneakers to work out in that are comfortable and fashionable. Well, I finally did it and these did notdisappoint. They are light, comfortable and stylish. I love them. It’s a must… I amgoing to order an additional color way.... Show more

Ok shoe, but missing the strengths of Free and Metcon
6 December 2021
I've long been a fan of Nike's Free series and the Metcon series, but this was my first chance to see how they work together.Short answer - not especially well.If you want lightweight, flexible, and cool, the Free running shoes are far superior. If you want planted, low to the ground, and stable, actual Metcon's are where to look.Unfortunately the combination of these two compromises those strengths. The upper provides a snug, secure fit - but it's not especially well ventilated, and it's so tight it's difficult to get on and off.The sole is well cushioned, but it's not as flexible as a free running shoe. The large heel makes it feels high off the ground, which is bad for the lifts and exercises that are the core of a Metcon's purpose. The shoe actually ... MoreI've long been a fan of Nike's Free series and the Metcon series, but this was my first chance to see how they work together.Short answer - not especially well.If you want lightweight, flexible, and cool, the Free running shoes are far superior. The large heel makes it feels high off the ground, which is bad for the lifts and exercises that are the core of a Metcon's purpose. The shoe actually looks more like a trail runner than anything else. It's got a big, knobby sole, giant heel, and massive Nike logo on the back. Made me think of the trend in pickup trucks to have bigger and bigger grills. Your mileage may vary on whether that's a positive or not.Overall, it's actually not bad for a walking around, hiking, etc. But that's not why you buy a Nike training shoe. Would highly recommend prioritizing what you need, and buying something that actually accomplishes that mission.... Show more

Unique firm fitting trainer shoe
8 November 2021
I've never had a shoe quite like this one. I find it to be a very attractive pair of shoes, with a good neutral color scheme. The mesh top, with re-enforced coating on the exterior toe, is both good looking and functional. The opening of the shoe is most notable, and a mixed bag. It is a fixed opening with minimal stretch. The back NIKE branded band on the back of the shoe is actually an elastic band that is pushing towards the inside of the shoe. The result is some effort to get your foot in the shoe, but then a very firm fit once seated properly. It doesn't even feel like laces are necessary! It is a pleasure to walk, run and just live in this shoe. Love it!... Show more
