When I first opened the box, I was intrigued by the very basic but fashion forward design of the Space Hippie 04. These are promoted as ecologically designed, and made from recycled material which is a selling point for many people. The soles and side are clearly from recycled items, as it is a bed of different colored flecks of mystery plastics. The soles are very thick which give a sense of walking on platforms, while the uppers are easily fastened via the interweaving cord/lace.My dislike of these shoes is purely on aesthetics, it's just not my style. Very fashionable, trendy and I question it's functionality. Others may find the design complementary to their style, but I prefer a more tone downed look.

These Nike Space Hippie 04 Shoes are great! The fit is perfect. Not sure if sizing is just right, or if the shoesâ upper essentially being a sock, I have zero discomfort wearing them all day long. Theyâre not too loose so you can workout/run in the them, but not so tight your feet start hurting shortly after putting them on. Speaking of the upper, itâs amazing. Iâve always been curious of this style of shoe with essentially a built in sock and they do not disappoint. Like wrapping your foot in a super soft, yet secure blanket. The rubber sole is made of 75% recycled plastics and I find that amazing. Their flexible and firm at the same time. Also, I find the look very cool. Like a modern take on a confetti cake or something. I really appreciate the gray color way ... MoreThese Nike Space Hippie 04 Shoes are great! The fit is perfect. Of all the positives these shoes have going for them, the sock upper is still my favorite aspect of them. The feel, comfort and enough support for everything I do with them still boggles my mind every time I put them on. Overall, I cannot recommend the shoes enough!

My husband was over the moon to receive these shoes. He has weirdly shaped feet - narrow through the heel and arch, but wide through the toes - and, as a result, he goes through shoes pretty quickly because they tend to wear out in the toe box or become so uncomfortable through the toes that we have to return them almost immediately.Right out of the box, husband was nervous because the shoe was 1/2 a size smaller than he normally wears, but he put them on and was amazed that they "fit perfectly". The way the upper part of the shoe hugs his foot like a sock was one of his favorite parts, as it accommodated both the widest part of the foot around his toes and the narrow part of his heel. The true test, however, came when he wore them to his retail job. Normally, he comes home complaining because going across the different floor surfaces (carpet, rubber mat, tile, concrete, etc.) gives him an aching back, knees, and feet by the end of his shift. However, he came home from a 10 hour shift while wearing these and declared them "the most comfortable shoes to work retail in". There was no loss of grip while transitioning between various floor surfaces, even when in a hurry, and he got a good number of compliments on his new shoes from his teenaged coworkers, which absolutely made husband's day.All in all, husband gives these a 5/5 all around - comfort, style, fit. He says his favorite part about them is that they're both lightweight and supportive, while still being a stylish shoe.My favorite part about them is that husband is no longer complaining about sore feet, back, knees, etc. at the end of work every day. Thanks, Nike!

The Nike Space Hippie shoes are so lightweight and comfortable, it's like you are walking on clouds or wearing the most comfortable slippers. I do a lot of walking and my feet have never been more comfortable in a shoe. The fit is just right, they fit true to size. The materials used are premium quality and the look is just awesome. I've received many compliments on these shoes, people asking where they are from since they are so unique looking. If I had one complaint about the shoes it would be that sometimes it's a bit hard to get them on, but the material in back is stretchy and has a pull loop so it's no biggie to me.Overall these are a major must-have! If you are looking for comfort, style, and wear ability you can not go wrong with these shoes.
These shoes look futuristic. The heel and the platform on this sneaker is really large. It almost feels like walking on a platform. They are not for exercising or jogging as I would typically wear sneakers for these activities. I would only walk in these. They are clunky and are only meant for certain styles. I paired them with jeans and track pants and they looked better with jeans. They are comfortable with the extra cushioning so my feet did not hurt when I wore them at the mall. There is really no structure though, so it feels a little unstable at the ankle with such a high heel. The best part is the color and look of the top of the shoe. The platform chunk is a disappointment. I did like that material is soft and the grey and blue combination is something I'd ... MoreThese shoes look futuristic. The shoes look pretty good, they are an interesting silhouette and the materials are cool. The blue color also has a lot of rainbow throughout the shoe, i dont mind in the end but it was much more pronounced in person than in the pictures, you might not notice while being worn, idk. The fit is spot on although i think i fall in between sizes where a 12 is tight and a 13 is way too big. They are comfortable at first, the knit top feels like a sock and is soft and form fitting. The soul of the shoe is a bit clunky, as soon as i stepped on hard ground i noticed it was a little hard, it didnt have much give or cushion and felt like i was walking on hard plastic. This is my first impression and im hoping they break in a bit. Overall id say they are ok, i dont really know ... MoreThe shoes look pretty good, they are an interesting silhouette and the materials are cool. I'm usually pretty open and adventurous when it comes to my aesthetic, but these "Space [invader] Hippie" may just be without a forever home in my wardrobe. Aesthetics aside, I'm not even sure what the targeted function of these moon boots is. Casual hiking? Tailgating at a Phish show? (no disrespect to Trey and the boys). Seriously, I want to like these shoes, I respect the environmental message and goal to manufacture everyday necessities from waste. Unfortunately, these shoes miss the mark functionally. The upper fabric is extremely lightweight (it sort of has to be in order to counter the absurdness of the sole). It's comfortable when slipped on and laced, but the moment I started walking, I lost interest. I'm an athletic person, but I didn't know if I was on ... MoreI'm usually pretty open and adventurous when it comes to my aesthetic, but these "Space [invader] Hippie" may just be without a forever home in my wardrobe. CAUTION: DO NOT RUN IN THESE.Unfortunately, these shoes are not for me...maybe I'll see if Jeff Spicoli needs a fresh pair of kicks.
I love that the shoe is made of sustainable materials, from the yarn to the sole. Even the box is sustainably made! I appreciate good packaging, but it might be time to redefine what good is. This box is about half the size of a normal box and I would love to see more of this. The shoes are easy to get off, and the heel loop is helpful in getting these on. The knit upper feels comfortable on your feet, even without socks. It's soft and breathable and fits true to size--but is also a nice fit both length and widthwise, and the upper probably will nicely accommodate a lot of foot shapes and types. Aesthetically, these are nice looking--I have the grey/volt pair. Slightly asymmetrical lacing by toe adds some visual interest. Aesthetically, these are nice looking--I have the grey/volt pair. Slightly asymmetrical lacing by toe adds some visual interest. The sole is fun, and is very thick in such a way that I think they will be durable. The toe and heel are reinforced with a denser composite, so high wear areas are well-considered. It's not the softest cushion, but if you are looking for a firm sole these work out nicely. Also, the outsole flares out on the lateral side by the toe, which really adds to the stability of the shoe but does not hurt the shoe aesthetically. The sole also comes up to cup the foot, particularly in the heel. That means that even though the upper is knit, you still can feel reasonably supported with the heel holding you in place. This is a shoe that I think you will like the more you wear it, as you break the outsole in. I think the sole might benefit from managing density by blowing different amounts of air bubbles into the sole in different places so as to have different densities where it's needed. That might be one way to improve the comfort that some of the other reviewers are concerned about, because the sole is clunky. Just something to play with. I expected the shoe to be more comfortable than it was, but I didn't find the shoe to be uncomfortable. It's not a shoe designed for rigorous activity, but it's good for standing up to the rigors of most parts of everyday life. All in all, you can tell that a lot of thought and consideration went into this shoe, and I like it a lot. This is a shoe that won't be for everyone, but if it's for you, then it's REALLY for you. I hope Nike keeps doing things like this--sustainably manufactured shoes, across price points, and with high quality. Four stars, but with improvements in underfoot comfort these become five out of five.
As soon as I opened the box, my husband said, "If you don't want those, I'll take them." Too bad for him, because I love these shoes! I get lots of compliments on my shoes whenever I wear them to run errands because they are definitely unique. They are also the most comfortable running shoes I've ever owned. The top is soft and flexible, so I never need to untie them when I take them off-- I can basically slip them on but they feel secure during exercise. The bottom has a little bit of give, and they are supportive during both runs and high intensity interval training. They are comfortable enough to wear around the house, if that was my thing. I'd say they run a little bit big, but once I had them on I didn't notice and didn't feel like the support was ... MoreAs soon as I opened the box, my husband said, "If you don't want those, I'll take them." My initial impression of the shoe's appearance was skeptical. They are definitely unique in their style. The skepticism was replaced with confidence pretty quickly. I slid the shoe on and it hugs your foot almost like a sock. At the same time the sole is reliable, not too heavy, and had good traction. My first outing with the shoe on I received more compliments from total strangers than I ever had in my life.I do feel the shoe fit true to size, maybe a little wide, which for me was a plus. This adds to the comfort of the shoes and had no problem walking miles in this shoe. I would not recommend running or playing sports in these shoes since the upper materials are not meant to provide extra support for quick changes of direction.
