This was a present for my partner that couldn't have gone down better. It's slightly more expensive than some of the other dedicated lenses you can get (and a lot cheaper than others) but the price to performance ratio is incredible. You'll take what would usually result in a decent photo except now it looks incredible, lovely natural bokeh effect with incredibly precise central detailing and lovely natural vignetting around the outside. Standard Nikon mount. Couldn't recommend it higher.

Yes, I was apprehensive but this was super great. I bought a digital recorder from CEX online before and it ended up being like new and wonderful. Now I didn't believe that old glass could feel this good, but my brother, good lord, no defects or marks, and I don't mean the glass, but the whole thing itself. Bargain it was. Second time her lucky and I will buy asgain because they've shown good price and trustworthy. I take photos now and love. love you too.

Someone else wrote a review where they said they couldn't believe they took so long to buy this lens, and I wholeheartedly agree. I purchased this 35mm f/1.8 for shooting with my Nikon D7100. (I originally purchased a 50mm lens forgetting about the crop factor and wanted that true 50mm look, so I purchased this lens.) I used it for a week while working at a children's grief/bereavement summer camp program. I shot a mix of action and portrait shots, both indoor and out. Beautiful bokeh. Great low-light performance. It's not the quickest to auto-focus (compared to my Nikkor 50mm), which was a slight disappointment, but wow-oh-wow I was amazed at the results overall. I anticipate this being my main go-to lens from this moment forward.

I have a DX Nikon camera (D-7000) and purchased the FX 50mm 1.8 lens primarily for the bokeh possibilities and to see if it helped with getting a wider field of view for family gathering photos. I forgot to factor in the 1.5x crop factor for using an FX with a DX sensor so my 50mm is actually a 75mm on my camera. To experiment with a wider angle lens, I go the DX 35mm f/1.8G. It was exactly what I was looking for. I gave it four stars instead of 5 because it is a lot stiffer mounting and unmounting on my camera than any other lens (DX or FX) that I have. I use it sparingly because of that, because of the concern that it might be wearing on parts of my camera's lens mounting system.
So far I am really enjoying using this 50mm f/1.4 lens. It has fast autofocus, good bokah, is small, lightweight, and yields sharp images when it hits focus on my D800. But this is my first "modern" G series lens, after using nothing but older AF-D and manual focus lenses on my Nikons, so I don't have the same perspective or presumptions as other "professional" reviewers have who generally panned this lens's performance. Regardless, if you can get this lens on sale, it is a great addition if you need a fast prime 50mm F-mount lens. The only downside is that it takes 58mm lens filters, so all my 52mm filters I use on my older prime lenses won't fit.

So far, this lens has worked well for me. For the price, it's a solid performer that, I'll venture to say, will work for probably 90% of photographers. Unless you are working in a war-zone and need a tank of a lens, this lens will work for you. Don't buy into the hype that expensive glass will make you a better photographer. There are plenty of examples of photographers using basic kit gear producing stunning results. Be one of those photographers who truly understands and is knowledgeable about the basics of photography and how to create solid results - your wallet will thank you.

However, when it is used wide open, at f/1.8, to exploit shallow depth-of-field effects, the lens displays both red and/or green color fringing depending on harsh highlights or areas of the image. (It may be much easier with Nikon’s latest software but which I believe is incompatible with Apple OS Sierra [10.12.6].
