Although this is one of Nikon's budget lens, it performs very well. Ultra wide photography is an art in itself and this lens is a very good one to help master it. Works incredibly well with my Nikon D5600. Ordered on a Friday afternoon and delivered the following day (Saturday) at midday. Brilliant service from Very.

I bought this lens because the Sigma 10-20 I used on my D300 didn't work properly when I switched to a D500. I know - proof of the compatibility problem, but the Nikon 10-20 AF-P didn't work on the D300, so there was no choice. The Nikon 10-20 turns out to be a bit sharper in the corners fully open, especially at 10mm. It has a little more CA, but that's easily dealt with in post. It very nicely complements the other kit lenses I have for the D500, the 18-55 and 55-200. All small, lightweight but incredible quality. We were told we didn't need VR on wide angle lenses, but as soon as we get it, we find new uses for those lenses. The attached is handheld at 1/8s f/5.6.Nikon seem to have sacrificed an f-stop or two on the altar of cost, size and weight with this ... MoreI bought this lens because the Sigma 10-20 I used on my D300 didn't work properly when I switched to a D500. The attached is handheld at 1/8s f/5.6.Nikon seem to have sacrificed an f-stop or two on the altar of cost, size and weight with this class of lens, but have been able to keep quality very high. With today's high ISOs, that decision makes perfect sense. Many older, larger f-stop lenses are barely usable at full bore anyway, and were made for a time when film struggled to get to ISO 800 or 1,600, so there is little real value in the extra cost and bulk.I do have faster or larger lenses for the D500 - among them the excellent 35/1.8G and the 16-85 which is a useful all purpose lens, not to mention several FX lenses - but the compact trio is what I use most of the time. The only slight drawback I can find with this lens is the lack of physical switches - you have to fiddle with menus to switch VR and AF off or on, but I suppose that's also on the altar of cost and size.

I'm So Happy with this Lens!
10 June 2022

I am very glad I purchased this lens. I do real estate photography and have been restricted to an 18mm lens on my Nikon D5500 for a long time. I always assumed a nice wide angle would be over a thousand dollars, but this little workhorse barely broke the bank and yet provides great results for what I need. After lens corrections, all the photos have great even lighting and there's not really any curved distortion. Photos are decently clear and the focus is *lightning* fast! The one thing is the aperture is pretty slow, which is fine for me as I almost always use a tripod, but can make for relatively noisy photos when handheld and bringing up the shutter speed. As well it would be nice to have a MF/AF switch. Otherwise, 9/10 would recommend!

Light & Small

Performs well, it has great image quality/color rendition/contrast, focuses fast and is very quiet. I found the plastic body/mount to be an advantage because it does not add too much weight; it is also relatively small compared to others, it does not take much space in your camera bag. I only encountered one minor problem and that is the hood which causes vignetting on the lower part of the picture at the 10mm setting. I solved this problem by shooting at the 11mm setting which is almost the same focal length as the 10mm. This problem can also be solved by shooting without the hood. I used it on my Nikon D5300 and is fully compatible with. Nikon 10-20 Wide Angle lens
27 August 2023

This is the first (super)wide angle lens I have had in my 70 years of photography. Clearly, there are many things to learn about its use, but I'm trying to work my way through the various reviews, wide angle commentary, etc. As has been my constant experience BHPhoto has never failed to have in stock the precise item I was looking for, to make ordering efficient and shipping safe and timely. This is a very fine lens in my early experience, as BHPhoto is a trustworthy distributor. I look forward to seventy more years of satisfaction. Well done, B&H and Nikon.

Perfect for Real Estate
14 September 2021

I bought this lens specifically for real estate photography and it has been the perfect lens for what I need. I don?t personally use it for anything else, so I can?t say what else I would use it for, maybe landscape. I mostly shoot portrait and weddings and just do real estate here and there as a contractor. I love how lightweight it is in comparison to my primes. The only complaint I had is that it wasn?t super clear until after I bought it that it only worked with certain camera bodies. It did not work with the two bodies I had, and had to buy a new camera in order to use it. It worked out in the end but it definitely threw me for a loop as I didn?t see it until I opened that ?manual? that came with it. Not going to lie, probably my own mistake, but still nice to ... MoreI bought this lens specifically for real estate photography and it has been the perfect lens for what I need. Sooo much better than I expected!
2 December 2019

For a budget wide angle zoom lens, I wasn't expecting too much. I have a Nikon D7200 and understand an AF-P lens works but with certain limitations, in this case no manual focus and no way of turning off image stabilisation, causing long exposures to not be sharp. HOWEVER, upon testing both these previously reported issues, I found no problems whatsoever! Manual focus worked just fine, as did a quick test of a long exposure. Compared to a snap taken in aperture priority, zoomed in on the details I found the long exposure to be much sharper then the same shot taken in aperture priority. I like taking long exposures so I'm very happy the lack of ability to turn off image stabilisation is not a problem, like I thought it would be. Some might find the highest aperture of f/4.5 to be a problem, but for me taking landscape shots, this is no problem at all! Highly recommend this lens!

[Rewarded Review] Excellent on DX; Passable on FX to 13mm
26 August 2022

This lens is an excellent combination of performance, weight, and value. Auto-focus is fast and almost silent (make sure it works with your body as AF-P only works with relatively recent ones). It's very sharp on DX (better at f/8). On FX: it works out to around 13mm without actual vignetting; however, wide open the corner brightness drop-off is just OK at 14mm and actually gets worse as you go to 20mm; edge sharpness beyond the DX crop in the corners is pretty bad--it has the look of a cheap toy lens in that area with almost linearly blurred objects that aren't actually out of focus or moving; so for FX it's ALMOST fantastic as a super light and small ultrawide, but, at least for me, the edge blur is too much to be usable--if all you care about is center sharpness ... MoreThis lens is an excellent combination of performance, weight, and value.
