Most reviews of this lens are fair. People found the lens is not sharp, so the price of this lens is often below its value. The only thing is you have to get a good copy! I am very lucky to purchase a like new one and the images are very sharp! I am so happy that I made the purchase! This lens is so nice and solidly build. If you have a full frame Nikon, try it and see if your copy is good. With around $200 to $250, you really can't go wrong!

I was hoping to use this lens as a walk-about lens when I upgrade to full frame sensor. All I can say is do not buy this version. Buy the newer 24-120mm f/4.0 VR II. Even the new one has a slight vignetting problem at the telephoto end but it is a much, much better lens than this one. I plan on selling this and save up for the newer lens.

Good versatile relatively light Nikon FX standard zoom lens.
29 December 2015

Despite some of the review, this is a very practical lens which is relatively light. Yes you can see some darkening on the 4 corners of the frame at F4 and a little bit less at F5.6 but just enable lens correction in Lightroom and the problem goes away. You can use DXO software for batch processing and correction. I had this lens before as well as the 28-300, sold it for a 24-70 F2.8 which is superior, better constructed lens but a lot heavier. I got sick of the weight and I bought that lens again to go with my D810. The image quality is superior to the 28-300 Nikon which is heavier but the 28-300 has a more versatile focal range. The colors on the 24-120 are not far from the 24-70 and nearly as crisp which is probably because of the "N" coating. It is the perfect ... MoreDespite some of the review, this is a very practical lens which is relatively light. I only put 4 stars because of the vignetting issue which need correction otherwise it is a good lens. Between the 4 standard Nikon zoom lenses -ie- 24-70 F2.8 VR, 24-70 F2.8, 24-120 F4 VR, 28-300 F3.5-5.6 VR, the 24-120 is the lightest and the smallest to carry around and produce more than decent results once you are aware of it's shortcomings.

Great bang for the buck
17 July 2018

After using this for a week this looks like it will be a good all-around lens. The zoom range will cover most of the pictures I'm after. And the image quality is what my (unprofessional) eye was looking for. There is some distortion / pin-cushioning in the corners as should be expected. I am pleased with the image quality over my previous DX lenses. A definite step up. Given the price these are going for, I definitely recommend it for a good quality general purpose lens.

Nikon 24-120mm lens

This lens is lightweight and takes nice images., sharp enough for my images that are compressed and only viewed on a web page. It is been used on my Nikon D750 and I have no complaints. My use of the lens for taking images of cars that I am selling and it does cover all bases with the ability to take wide enough photos for interior shots and long enough for external shots to keep the car looking as it should with regards to the perspective. All in all a great value lens for 200.

This Lens is great. The Nikon Nikkor AF-S 24-120mm f3.5-5.6 G ED VR Lens Is fantastic! this lens is the go too lens at work for shooting, Product shots of toys and packaging. I use it for work and every day stuff as well. This Lens is a "WORK HORSE" it'll tackle anything you throw at it. portrait shots, landscapes, product shots, and just about anything else. The Lens has slight photo vignetting all the Way Zoomed in, and image distortion and stretching zoomed all the way out. Both of these are easy to work around.

Sharp and Sturdy
12 January 2021

Absolutely love my images from a recent Colorado trip with this lens! Very sharp, great quality. I was able to find this lens used for a tiny bit over $200 and it is worth every single penny. My Sigma 17-50 lens I purchased through B&H photo is being returned right now due to how much better the Nikon 24-120 lens preformed. Paired this lens with a Nikon D850 and I actually have high hopes for selling a few prime images! Very sturdy feeling. Had a slight issue with the zoom ring getting stuck around the 24mm and 50mm part but giving it a good clean typically fixes this issue.

Very good lens at a reasonable price
21 April 2020

This is the older version of the 24-120mm Nikkor lens. I owned one for years and was very pleased with it. A couple of years ago, my son, a professional photographer, borrowed the one I had for a shoot as he needed the range which was longer than his 24-70 zoom. He liked it so much that I let him keep it. I missed it so bought this one for my back-up Nikon. I also own the newer f4 version of this lens. The newer one is somewhat sharper, but not enough to warrant the difference in cost. I create a calendar every year and this is my "go-to" lens for much of my shooting. Unless you are a rabid pixel-peeper, this lens will do everything you need in this focal length.

like new, zoom, Nikon, handy size to have,
10 January 2022

it's a Nikon lens, it has a smaller aperture more depth of field, but if you know how to work it could do portraits. All Nikon lenses are great. If you have a background like all one surface like in a studio, you can control it, or way in the distance background so you can blur it out. there are other ways to. I did not want to spend over $600.00 for a F 1.4 or F1.8 or 1.2 or way more money than that.
