Everything else is fantastic though. If they added a patch to reduce this then it would be perfect.Graphics - Looks great on the switch, tons of attention to detail. They did a good job of making you feel small in a big world.Sound - Music and sound design are on point. It's easier to form a squad than before, and Oatchi can help with some of the more tedious aspects of the game like gathering idle Pikmin for you. The aiming mechanic is vastly improved over older games. Also, you get access to different items like multiple types of bombs, so the player gets more tools to mess with. I also like that they included the underground tunnels from Pikmin 2.Multiplayer - Kinda lacking. There is "co-op" but player 2 justs shoots pebbles at enemies. I want to say the dandori battles are 2 player but I'm not sure.Replay value - Haven't beaten the game so it remains to be seen. You can repeat the dandori battles to improve your score, but beyond that I'm not sure. I would imagine that there will be DLC for this game.

when I first got this game, I immediately fell in love with this game. I 100%'d this game relatively fast which is rare for me to do with some of the games I play. the scenery and atmosphere of this game are incredible, and I thought the game was generally well-balanced in the variety, usage, and power of enemies and Pikmin. also collecting real-life objects similar to Pikmin 2 was an enjoyable aspect. I also do recommend collecting and doing everything as the piklopedia which has entries for all the treasure you collect and all creatures you encounter is something you can read for hours on end and still be entertained. Does Pikmin 4 live up to the hype?
28 July 2023

After 10 year Pikmin 4 finally came out. The last time a new main line Pikmin game came out was on the Wii U (Hey Pikmin doesn’t count it’s a side game). I can’t really think of many factors that would be a dealbreaker I haven’t beaten it yet so I can’t full say it’s Amazing, but it basically is. The characters are charming, the underground is so far a good challenge. The graphics are amazing like HOW DID THEY GET THIS ON THE SWITCH, amazing! Nighttime was good, but an interesting choice they made for what they did with it (no spoilers). The main gameplay is what you would expect of it from past titles, but now with a camera up close and personal. BUT, there’s this bizarre choice they made by limiting types of Pikmin to some areas. Only 3 Pikmin types on the field, which is bizarre and sucks but I don’t know if that gets fixed further down the line. I still have to finish the game but besides that it’s Pikmin, it’s amazing, if you played any titles from the past of its series you will love it. If you never played Pikmin before, but like the gameplay or played the demo you will love it. It’s a wonderful game and seriously needs more recognition than it has, it seriously has earned it!Pikmin 4 really lives up to the hype!.. Well at least for me!

Downgrade from Pikmin 3
22 July 2023

The co-op mode sucks on this version. The best evolution of the Pikmin franchise was the two-player co-op in the main campaign. This game abandoned that feature. The advertising for the game was misleading, we assumed co-op would retain the same. This “pebble pitcher” feature makes the second player nearly useless and wont save your progress made while playing with a second player. I already regret buying this game. Last time I will pre-order a switch game advertised for two players. I will let others make the mistake of buying before the functionality is clear.

Fantastic addition to the series!

I had to write a review to counter a mid GameSpot score because I loved this game so much. If you've played any Pikmin game and liked it at all you'll love this game. They simplified some of the more tedious parts of previous titles like always selecting the reccomend pikmin types on starting a map or entering a cave, limiting to 3 types at a time. Items carry at minimum by default instead of always over-carrying. Oatchi adds an incredible dynamic to the series with all your troops hitching a ride so you dont need to worry about stragglers. You do this swim across water, or move swiflty in a boss fight. If you use Oatchi's charge attack on a boss all the pikmin on his back will latch on and attack for a combo attack. I cannot say enough good things about this game

The first 30 minutes had me scared, because it's just a boring info dump with uninteresting characters, and tutorials that seem to be made for infants. That being said when you get into the portion of the game where they just let you go and do your thing, man, it is the perfect pikimin game. Unlike 3, Nintendo took everything good from every pikmin game and expanded upon it. The game is pretty easy, but not nearly as easy as 3 so it's appreciated. Pikmin was my first ever game, and Pikmin 2 has been my favorite game ever since it came out. Nintendo has really impressed me with how they tried, and succeeded, in appealing to the older and audience and new audience. I recommend Pikmin 4 to anyone who has a switch. Just don't let the boring intro and tutorial day ... MoreThe first 30 minutes had me scared, because it's just a boring info dump with uninteresting characters, and tutorials that seem to be made for infants. Excellent game with a style only Nintendo can pull off. What appears on the surface to be a child's game is actually a very challenging strategy game. An added feature to the fourth installment is a dog as well as a rewind time feature. As an animal lover the addition of a dog is wonderful and traveling through the environments is much quicker. The rewind feature is great because your can go back and correct a mistake instead of having to repeat a whole day which is time consuming. Overall, very fun and fulfilling. The very end is a bit more challenging but very far away from feeling impossible. I clocked in somewhere around 55 hours. We'll worth the money and time takes to finish it.
