Nioxin System 5 Trial Kit

First, I’d like to explain why I starting using this product as I think it’s very important. I recently moved from the southern region of the United States to the northeast for a dream job! With that move, however, I watched as my thick, wavy/curly hair took a real beating. My hair turned brittle, falling out in handfuls, hard to manage, and became incredibly tangled. When I went to Ulta and explained what was happening, the kind lady there immediately walked me over to this set. The shampoo didn’t seem much more different than your average shampoo, but the conditioner caused a slight tingling, cool sensation. It felt like it was working right away. After getting out of the shower, the 3rd step was the scalp and hair treatment which was the issue. I sprayed my scalp down generously, running my hair along my arm as I moved it across. Within 5 minutes, I had huge red welts from my thumb to the crook of my elbow. I also got dark red splotches across my forehead. Upon looking up information on the product, it said this was completely normal, and that it should go down within 1 hour. With that said, it took over 2 hours for the redness to go away, and even though it did, there was still a splotchy-ness to my arm (even now) that still hasn’t resided completely. I applaud the company for explaining that this happens as the product works as a vasodilator, but to me, it isn’t worth the anxiety, fear, and unknown of watching those spots grow for 30 minutes and then the splotchy look staying long after it said it would reside. Because of that, I don’t feel comfortable trying the product out any longer. I think the clean the product gives is nice, but the side effects bring a lot of unnecessary stress, in my opinion. I plan to return the product at this time. I definitely don’t regret giving it a shot, but I feel like there has to be a better option than the fear I felt watching the red welts grow on my arms and across my forehead. For this reason, this product was not a winner.

A great solution for hair loss

The conditioner is nice, it has an invigorating minty feel and conditions well, just make sure you give it a couple of minutes before rinsing it out.I love the foam application for step 3. On my first day, I wasn't quite sure what point to apply it according to directions, other than applying it after my shower. I ended up waiting until my hair was partially dry but regretted it immediately as my hair felt crispy. I brushed it in a few different directions to hopefully break it up and it settled things. Now when I get out of the shower I put a hair towel on while I get dressed and immediately apply it afterward. You need to shake the bottle to activate the foam, applying it all up on the scalp. At this point I put my hair towel back on to let it dry, when I take it off, there are no crunchy bits at all!! My hair feels quite nice!I would recommend this Nioxin system, though progress is slower, it is different for everyone. I feel like there would be noticeable growth after a few months of use. It's also great as there are different systems geared towards different hair types giving you choices. If you find your ends are too dry, a deep conditioner will help.

Effective Treatment but Can't Solve all My Problem

Second, I also only wash my hair 1-2 times a week because I find more frequent washing cause overproduction of oil in my hair and the first few days my scalp is really itchy if I frequent washing. This means it takes time to take effect.I tested this kit for a full month using only this product and discontinued all other regiments on my hair. The first week was wonderful as I don't have any acne flare (because the exfoliation is still working)and my scalp is hydrated so I was not scratching my head all the time. But starting on the second week, my scalp acne is slowly coming back and by the end of the one-month trial, I'm back to having as many pimples on my scalp as I had before I got rid of them with exfoliation. However, I am definitely having more volume in my hair than before when I had patches of hair loss. I have the before photo where I have patches of loose hair and the after photo where there is fuller volume but with acne.I then test two weeks alternating between using a regular shampoo conditioner and exfoliation with the kit, the result is much better. Overall I like the Nioxin kit, but it needs additional help in my case.

Good for strand density

My hair is baby fine, bleached, coloured with semi-permanent colour, naturally oily at the roots, but more dry and damaged in the lengths.The shampoo has a thick consistency, generous lather, and performed well for cleansing the oil from my roots and oily areas, while it did leave the ends fairly dry. There is quite a bit of menthol in both the shampoo and the conditioner, so if you really love the sensation of mint on your scalp, you'll love that aspect of the shampoo and conditioner. I always need to use a leave in detangling spray, and when applying this foam treatment to the scalp and hair, my lengths became tangled and dry, definitely more so than usual, with me then needing to use a more conditioning, heavier leave in to detangle afterwards.I have thinning hair with hair loss, and after using this kit for a month I would say it has plumped up the strands of my hair, and a little bit in the least thinning area of my scalp.I'd recommend this to those with thin or mildly thinning hair, who enjoy the refreshing cooling sensation of menthol, with hair ranging from oily to the dry side of normal, whether bleached or coloured, or chemically treated. If you have more moderate hair loss, I'm not sure this will do what you're looking for (don't expect minoxidil type results), but it's definitely worth a try at the price. While rinsing the product out, my hair felt super stringy and clumpy together, I was really scared it fried my hair somehow. The next step was to Condition, which I was really praying for at that moment. I first used a little of the conditioner but it was not enough, you really need alot of this product to help revive the life of your hair. The third step is the hair and Scalp treatment, which I only used once a week. It came out of the bottle in a foamy pump style with enough to massage onto your Scalp and apply to the rest of your hair to the ends. I found this really dries my hair, hence why I only use it once a week. After using the full three step system, I could feel my Scalp tingle from the peppermint oil. At first I did not like it, but after getting used to it, it's not as bad.Conclusion: after using this 3 step system for just over 4 weeks I have not noticed a significant change in the thinning out of my hair. I still get clumps of hair while in the shower, as well as a full brush after a couple days. Overall, I would still purchase this system as it does make my hair feel very cleansed and full of volume after each use.

I've been using this for about a month now and I've seen a massive improvement in the thickness and density, softness, managablitliy and overall health of my hair.My hair has changed significantly over the years as I age, and I've got wiry curl in parts, frizz in others, and wiry Grey's down my part. my hair has been thinning more and more over the years as well, to the point where I'm needing to use dark eyeshadow on my scalp at the part line. I know this is working because I've no longer needed to do this step.I color my Grey's religiously, just the regrowth but thus I've sustained damage as a result. this product has been amazing for healing some of this as well. I've been searching for products that don't do this, and Nioxin has delivered. it doesn't feel coated or weighed down it feels soft and full and smooth and absolutely perfect. it's rare I find something that I fall in love with and I really do love this system.I did receive this entire system from a free sample program but here's the thing- I've received so many hair products through free sampling programs and I've never gone on to repurchase them. but this one I will continue using. im so excited to see what it looks like in 6 months if it already looks this fabulous. even my co workers have noticed it and asked if i got my hair done!i really like how there is so many classification depending on hair type too, like colored and dry etc. the fact that it's sold as a system is a bonus, there's no guesswork in navigating 3 diff products and there's no issue with 1 or 2 of the required products being sold out, which happens all the time with other products. it's super convenient and also affordable too...I'll definitely purchase this soon as im almost out!

Helps with appearance somewhat but expensive

However, on days when I used less shampoo, and used extra conditioner, it did seem to moisturize better. Not quite the softness I was getting from my natural products admittedly. Now, down to the reason you choose Nioxin in the first place… thinning. It’s hard to tell after just a month if it helps. I mean, even Rogaine products take a couple of months to see if there’s new growth, and I don’t believe this product is made to regrow hair, but to improve the appearance of thinning hair. I did find it help volumize the hairs themselves and it did seem to appear somewhat thicker. The added treatment was nice, but I also had to learn how much to use, and not apply too much to the root area or it did not style well. Overall, it is a decent system that may be provide some benefits for thinning hair if you’re willing to pay the price, but I’m not sure it’s truly worth the cost for me personally.
