NiSi 67mm True Color ND-VARIO Pro Nano 1-5 Stops Variable ND
Variable exposure reduction The NiSi True Color ND-VARIO - 1-5 Stops offers an exposure reduction of 1 to 5 f-stops. The density of 0.3 to 1.5 leads to a darkening of the entire image, so that larger apertures or slower shutter speeds than usual are possible. The degree of density is set simply by turning the front filter ring with or without the silver lever provided, which can be used to determine the additional exposure time in advance. By slowing down the exposure time or increasing the aperture, the depth of field can be controlled and movement can be rendered clearly recognizable. The transition of density is smooth, so that the photographer or videographer can adjust the exposure time precisely to the requirements of a particular scene. For easy and repeatable control of the density settings, the front ring is marked with numbers representing the different aperture values. The ring is ribbed on the sides to ensure a secure grip and make it easier to put on and take off. True Color coating The filter also has a True Color coating, which prevents the color shifts that occur with other variable filters. The True Color ND-VARIO - 1-5 Stops is made of high-resolution optical glass for the best resolution and quality. The glass is coated with a NiSi multilayer nano-coating, which provides a waterproof, oil-resistant and anti-reflective coating to prevent ghosting and reflections. The filter ring is made of high-quality aluminum, resulting in a very light and robust filter.

Quality all round; service, build, in use and image results. I’ve dealt with Nisi for several years now and have no complaints. My ND system has evolved, I didn’t dive straight into, I use the variable ND at the low end in conjunction with the V6 system, once you have the right step up and down rings the system is very flexible. I highly recommend Nisi’s products and service, always helpful with advice.

Only used this filter twice, but I haven't detected any trace of color alteration. The printed numbers on the side are a big help to determine just how much adjustment was dialed in, very convenient.I also like the little thumb screw which helps control the way you adjust the variability especially when wearing gloves

I had gotten by with an older Light Craft Workshop Fader ND for years, but only used it when absolutely neecessary due to the significant color shifting. This NiSi is SO much better in every respect - hard stops [eliminating the chance of any X effect], minimal color shift [if any], and a handy pin to turn the filter. I recommend cutting a notch in the lens cap to allow for leaving the pin attached full time. Works really well with any lens on my Lumix GH5 or S1H. Not the cheapest variable ND, but definitely a good value. No complaints!

Really great investment when doing flash photography outside in low shutter speed. I did not want to use hss since the power would be lower that what you set the power to be. Using a light meter also did not help. By having the shutter in a low under 250 and setting my light meter, I am able to quickly correct my lighting and settings in the camera. (When using a light meter while using a filter, set the iso on the meter to how many stop you are going. If iso on camera is 200, then the iso on the meter would be 100 for 1 stop, 50 on 2 stop, etc.)
This filter is well built and came with a lens cap and soft side carrying case. I'm using it on my Leica Q2. Exposure stops are well marked and there is a range limiter that keeps you from going over/under the stop range. I've noticed some slight vignetting but nothing serious. I have not noticed any color shifts that can be problematic with this type of filter.
I have other NiSi NDs which I have bought for my smaller lens which I'm very happy with so it made sense to get this one. I bought it for my Sony 200-600 whilst shooting wildlife video, so it comes in to its own in bright conditions. Little to no colour shift as I can see. Very happy.
I bought this variable ND based on online reviews of color fidelity, lack of cross hatching, etc. I haven't tested those features extensive, but so far, so good.I gave it 4 stars because I could not get the post to screw into the hole. It doesn't appear that either thread is damaged, but it just won't catch. Personally, I don't actually care about it that much. Also, I didn't notice that the specs say the front filter thread is 86mm for the 82mm size. I presume NiSi did this because the filter is a little thick and this minimizes vignetting. They include a nice cap for this reason and it even has a notch for the post (apparently added after early reviewers said they cut their own in the cap!). Just something to not overlook. Super glass, easy usage and excellent anti-reflective coating. Just what I needed. Unlike other brands, this one stops at either end of its scale so that you don't inadvertently go too far. That is huge when you're rushing in the field. Also, I just shot in full-on desert sun without concern about reflection marring my shot. I would definitely buy this again!
This is my first variable ND and it immediately proved its worth. Filming outdoors, it's easy to quickly stop down the ND before adjusting exposure in the lens. Affords more flexibility and helps preserve shallow depth of field. Indoors, I use it to expose for practical background lamps or windows so they don't blow out, then light the subject and adjust lens aperture to maintain shallow DOF. Haven't experienced the dreaded X yet. Haven't found the tiny screw-on lever to be necessary yet. Lens cover is just the right amount of snug, and the case must account for a decent fraction of the filter's cost, it's really nice.
As advertised no noticeable color shift. No X pattern either. Pretty much perfect. Also a lot of reviews talk about a notch in the cover being needed for the screw in pin but mine had the notch already so it looks like they updated the design since a lot of the reviews went live.
