find another brand, not only are these horribly inreliable but they dont honor simple warranty exchanges for their faulty battery chargers. its pathetic to be honest, after an inaccurate "out if warranty" denial, i sent screenshots of the warranty agreement indeed qualifying me for a replacement charger and they just stopped responding. I am very busy serving special needs children: toddlers with sexual trauma, autism spectrum, emo and behav. disorders and this company just threw my business in the trash for a 60 bucks(the cost of a new charger). -I weight 240 lbs and I got 15 miles from full battery by turning off break assist off and custom 15mph limit. --This scooter can do 20mph but max speed will decrease as the battery drains. At 60% of battery max speed is 18mph and at 20% max speed is 12. HOWEVER, custom limit to 15mph in the app results in a consistant 15mph until 15% of power then it will drop to 14mph. ---This scooter is known for the best hill climber at this price range and THAT IS TRUE. However i wouldnt recommend it for hill like citys like san fran, just for intense hills here and there. ---- headlight is amazing, an absolute must that should be included in ever electric scooter. Best Scooter on planet for price...but MAJOR FLAW!

This is absolutely a 5-star scooter...except for ONE major flaw: the custom speed mode which allows you to increase the speed to 23.6mph is basically useless! If you go into the app to turn on the custom mode, you lose the ability to change between eco and sport modes from the dashboard! So, your choices are to be able to change between sport and eco modes easily (but have to go into app to change to custom) OR you can have custom mode only. I saw a review with this complaint and thought the reviewer was being silly, but now I see exactly what he is talking about! It is such a serious problem, I'm considering returning it - even though I absolutely LOVE the scooter in EVERY OTHER WAY! Except for this absolute flaw...this stellar scooter is the REAL DEAL! The deck, the deck, the deck. Very comfy and wide deck to plant your feet.4. The tires absorb the bumps in on the roads and pavements like a champ. My prior scooter with solid tires was brutal on my body. With this, I don't even look where I'm riding. Just point and go.5. I'm glad I got the sport version as it has only one front disc brake and lever which frees up space to be able to attach a phone holder on the other side. It would be a challenge for the pro version.6. I'm surprised that the app works really well. You have to go through the tutorial first to unlock the max speed but after that, you are good to go. No need to use that app after that if you don't want to.7. Can I say that I'm in love with the bell? Soft, yet effective in letting people know that you are around.8. For this price point, the acceleration throttle is precise even at very low speed. A sine wave controller perhaps? It's very smooth which I love and it makes it easy to navigate in the city especially with people around.The only 2 things I would like to improve on would be the weight and have a folding mechanism for the handle bars. Carrying this around for short distances is not a problem but not for long. I got a handle bar wrap to use on the stem when folded and also shoulder strap in case I have to carry it upstairs. It would be nice if the handles could have fold in but not a deal breaker. When I'm on the metro, I just stay at the end of the car. For the price, this scooter is a winner and has all the elements to make city riding a joy.

Nice scooter if it works but zero warranty support

I bought two of these for my kids for Christmas and one had a computer malfunction immediately. The error message says the battery is overheating even though it’s never been used. We’ve done everything we can to reset it but nothing fixes it. Because it was sold through a third party seller, Walmart won’t exchange it for the same price I paid (I bought them on a Black Friday sale), so my only choice it to return it and pay full price for a new one. It’s now out of my price range — I wouldn’t have ever paid full price for these.I’ve reached out to NIU three times over the past 5 days because it’s under warranty, but no one writes me back, and they don’t have a US phone number to call for support. I don’t think it will go 25 miles on one charge like it claims, but we haven’t tested that fully. I would rate these 5/5 if the company stood behind its product. Unfortunately that’s not the case. If I were to do this all over I would stay away from the NIU brand at all costs.

Non working scooter on Christmas morning

What a bummer to give to my son on Christmas morning! My son opened his gift Christmas morning and was so excited to see what he had gotten. We opened the box and followed the installation guide - got to step 03 "confirm that the device will power on and off after assembly" nothing happened when I pressed the button. My stomach dropped but tried to stay positive for my son and went ahead and attached the four screws for the handlebar assembly and went ahead and charged it until the light turned green on the charger. Tried to turn it on and in fact got a sore thumb from trying to press so hard on the darn button. Still no luck so I unscrewed the 4 screws and unplugged the wire and plugged it back in and the screen turned on! Unscrewed the 4 screws unplugged wire and plugged in again and scooter hasn't turned on since, screen is blank. The weird thing is phone was still connected to the scooter through he app and I was able to lock and unlock scooter and it let out a beep but no sign of life on the screen. Day after Christmas tried calling niu for help at 1-888-241-0666, it just rang and got sick of waiting and don't want to deal with he headache of working with them over the phone so going to return it Best Buy. Thank goodness I bought through them so I have a generous return window (until Jan 14th) to return Christmas purchases. Anyways, extremely disappointed and sad that I didn't open it and assemble before Christmas so my son wouldn't have been disappointed, luckily I have a sweet boy and he still enjoyed his Christmas and knows it's not about the things we get. NIU brand will be one of those things we will never get again.

Not quite up to the Hype!

I bought this Niu KQi3 Pro Scooter because of all the Rave reviews… I didnt see a single unfavorable You Tube video on this…I will say it does have great build quality as everyone says and the ride is stable… BUT…..I bought the Segway Ninebot es4 for my wife and was expecting this to be much better as reviews suggest… To my surprise, I dont notice a huge difference… This feels stable but I feel perfectly stable on the Ninebot…. I thought this would be quicker uphill with 20% rating and I dont have any complaint, but the Ninebot seems to do the same with a 15% rating… The true real life range seems about the same between these scooters but the KQi3 Pro is much heavier, taller folded up, and bulkier,,. Overall very happy with the Max. Enough grunt for my 100kg frame. At 6'4"I find the riding position very comfortable. Running the self heal tyres at 45 psi provides a pretty smooth ride on bike paths and tarmac. Love this for my 8km commute to work. The app works flawlessly. I recommend a sturdy phone holder for the handle bar if you want to utilise trip stats etc. Excellent build quality, welds are neat and everything fits nicely. There was some sticky residue left on the paintwork around the deck after removing the protective film but this came off easily with some gentle rubbing with some orange oil that I had lying around. Here's hoping we get the green light on legislation after the scooter trials to make these highly efficient forms of transport legal to ride ... MoreOverall very happy with the Max. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this amazing scooter!! It was packed so carefully and so well, and everything arrived in perfect condition. The user manual was pretty clear to read and it didn't require much effort to put this scooter together. Upon unboxing, the battery was at 1 bar (out of 5 bars), and it took 3.5 hours to charge it to full battery. I am 5'9 and 150 lbs, and I can stand comfortably on the scooter and my arm rests on the handle just right. (The handle height is adjustable although not much.) The scooter will go as fast as 19 mile per hour, although sometimes for reasons unknown, it'll only go up to 17 miles per hour or less, although still very fast in general. For me, going approximately between 10-19 miles per hour just scooting around in the neighborhood, it drains about 10% of the battery in about half an hour, and the app on the phone actually tells me how much battery is left (so does the screen on the scooter). Overall, I would say that this scooter delivers everything it advertises that it does. This is a very well made, very nice looking, and overall just a very well done scooter. If I absolutely must pick something less-than-ideal to say about it, I would say that the app is hard to understand and took some time to figure out, but overall I'm incredibly happy with this scooter. Absolutely recommend.
