Honestly, if you have advanced to the point where you are considering Noctua fans, you shouldn't be concerned with colored fans with colored lasers shooting out of them. The Ali****re website is that way ----> IF for some insane reason you have to have a different color of Noctua fans, this is it, and they are cheap. They just don't come with as many accessories as the regular ones... like rubber grommets etc. etc.

I recently acquired three of these fans to go into my Corsair 540 case. I am absolutely thrilled with them. They provide great airflow and are near silent. These have to be the best fans money can buy as far as 12cm silent case fans go. Build quality is again your typical Noctua German-made top notch quality item.

As my case can fit 21 fans in it, you could probably guess how loud that should be. But with this being the 8th fan so far, just to ear, there's no audible change in the sound at all, so for this to be a "quiet case fan", this is completely accurate. It's a fan, so it's a very easy install, nothing different from any other fan. This fan is fitted behind my CPU on the motherboard, and it's keeping my temperatures down to what I can see, so ideal for my use!

I bought this to be an exhaust fan on a server for my home lab. I work in the room that the server will be place, so it needed to be quiet. These are! You will not be disappointed! When they are running, I can not hear them. My office/server room is in my loft and in the summer it can get quite hot. These really help keep things cool. Worth every penny!
Fans for grown ups: Maybe I have been a ghetto fan user for most of my life but I recently built a server with old blue led fans that cost $3. The rack mount case needed to be on 24/7 and I could not use a fan controller because of lack of space (case was maxed out with components!). While the cheap fans x3 function fine (and look cool) they vibrated the case and filled the house with noise. I purchased these with silicone mounts and got rid of all the bad noise. They still have good air flow and my computer has since its been on without being off; the computer uses about 1200 consistent watts so it needs good cooling. I like the professional look they have and look interesting still since they arnt all black boring fans; even though no one is really looking.
Works well and is quiet, but if I were buying again I'd get the P12 variant instead. Even mounting to the exhaust of a case, where there is the least airflow impedance, it does not seem to perform significantly better than the P12, and the P12 is much more versatile if ever you need to use it elsewhere.
I installed 6 of these in my partner’s case and 1 plus a couple of the 140mm models in my own. On hers, you can barely hear them. SIX fans all running at the same speed and you can barely hear the things when they ramp up. The 140mm’s in mine are a little louder and drown out the 120mm I’m using as a back exhaust, but that’s to be expected. For the price, you can’t get much better. They’re cheaper than the brown ones and obviously look better for the majority of builds.
Comparing this NF-S12B directly to the Noctua NF-S12A FLX, there are important differences to note: 1) The 12B ships with no accessories besides 4 screws. The 12A comes with a molex adapter, 900rpm limiter, 700rpm limiter, extension cable, screws, rubber anti-vibration mounts etc (everything you might need for almost any installation situation). 2) There are no rubber corners on the NF-12B (that statement deserves an asterisk. I have seen a photo in a forum online that showed rubber corners on the 12B but mine does not have them and the newegg photos don't show any). So, if your case is made of very thin material, this fan might produce some vibration noise someday when the balance gets thrown off a bit by dirt/lint collecting on the blades. 3) The 12B is rated to ... MoreComparing this NF-S12B directly to the Noctua NF-S12A FLX, there are important differences to note: 1) The 12B ships with no accessories besides 4 screws. So, if your case is made of very thin material, this fan might produce some vibration noise someday when the balance gets thrown off a bit by dirt/lint collecting on the blades. 3) The 12B is rated to 18.1 dba noise, and the 12A is rated to 17.8 dba at full speed. That doesn't look like a big difference on paper, but the difference is noticeable. Both are very quiet in comparison to nearly every other 120mm fan on the market, but if my old ears can hear the difference, I bet yours can to. 4) The airflow rating for the 12B is 100.6 m³/h and the 12A is 107.5 m3/h at full speed. That's also not a big difference but worth considering of you intend to use the fan on a CPU cooler, a radiator, or behind dust filters is that this fan has a slightly higher static pressure rating than the 12A even though it moves a little less air per minute. 5) The 12B has the older design SSO bearing, and the 12A has the newer SSO2. Both are fluid dynamic bearings enhanced by some pretty smart engineers at Noctua. .. Read enough forums over a long enough period of time and you will find a few posts regarding a leaking SSO bearing once in a blue moon. I have yet to read anyone at all saying a Noctua fan with and SSO2 bearing leaked. This point is probably a non-issue because Noctua will replace any defective or worn out fan that gives you trouble within 6 years, but if the fan is for a mission critical piece of equipment, the newer SSO2 bearing fans might be desirable. 6) The colors are different. I personally don't care at all about the color scheme, but reading what some people say about Noctua fans, I guess other folks are really sensitive about it, so it's worth mentioning. This grey/black color scheme might be preferable to you vs the browns of the more expensive 12A models. I bought this NF-S12B and a pair of NF-R8 for an older computer in my office that has been getting louder and louder over time as the case fans that came with it started to wear. I didn't need the accessories that come with the more expensive 12A models and even though this one is a tiny bit louder than a 12A, it's still far quieter than the coolermaster fan it replaced. For me, it was worth saving the six bucks and just getting a replacement fan that I didn't need any extra stuff for. ... That said: for my home machine, I recently replaced my CPU cooler with a Noctua NH-U12S. I added a second NF-12PWM fan for push/pull and at the same time I needed to replace a Scythe Kaze 1200 rpm case fan that was getting noisy so I replaced it with a NF-S12A FLX. The accessories were nice to have and I don't regret for a second paying a few extra bucks for a little more air and a little less sound. Small update to this review 6 months later: I like these so much I ordered some more of them for another build. This time, I received the new frame style with silicone padded corners and I have since learned about the difference in frame styles for this fan. My point #2 above should be moot now and Noctua is shipping the NF-S12B Redux with the extra two holes drilled out in each corner and with silicone pads installed.
I have to really check if these are even on, the dB rating is below what can be considered quiet ambient room levels. As for flow and cooling, definitely fit for purpose. I'll buy more in future.
I got a Micro ATX tower. I could pick one fan, anyone I wanted. This one worked out perfectly. I have bought many Noctua fans over the years. I've never been disappointed. I didn't need PWM this time, I run this on a fan controller.
