At first I thought, I received a defective item as the noise levels would reach beyond 35 dbA.After mounting the fan in the case with screws, the sound profile vastly improved. At full speed, the fan itself is whisper silent. The only thing I hear is swoosh sound of moving air which is normal. Thanks for the help, PCCOOLES.

Performance:excellentFast delivery, excellent performance it is indeed quite at low speed you don’t even feel it’s running. It fits perfectly to my Synology 1513+.

I bought two of these (and a NF-S12B redux) for an antec cube case that has been getting noisier and noisier as the fans age. The back of that case has space for 2 80mm fans but it had a single 2100 RPM 29 CFM Sunon in it. That Sunon fan was loud even when it was new. I've put 2 of these NF-R8 Redux fans in the back and together they not only move more than twice as much air, but they are quieter by far. - That's worth repeating: Two of these 1800 RPM 31.3 CFM fans are quieter to have them both running than the single fan I removed. These are great fans. If you want quiet, and don't need the accessories that come with the more expensive, brown colored Noctua fans, these won't let you down. And, they come with the same 6 year warranty.

I now have 3 sizes of High performance Noctua fans, 2 80mm, 1 120mm, and 2 140mm. They all are great performers. The fans are quiet when in low speeds, much louder when in higher speeds. I just set fan curves that are silent when in low loads to the machine, and ramp up when things start warming up. Running them all in a home server machine that does a lot of different jobs including Folding@Home. Keeps the components temps in line very well, with all air cooling so maintenance is minimal.
I bought a pair of these to replace the 10-year-old stock fans in my old Lian Li PC-C30 which already has vibration-dampening mounts for its fans. These are quieter and move more air than the stock ones did when they were new. When compared to a Seasonic power supply and Noctua CPU cooler (no LNA) there is no noticeable noise from these fans at full speed. *If you need studio-quiet fans, look at the lower RPM version! **If you're looking for the black color but want the most premium features like vibration dampening and dust/water resistance, look into the Noctua industrial fans!!!
Good quality well made and work well and should last a long time.Do not be under any illusion that these fans are silent, all fans make noise especially at full speed these fans are no different but are more efficient and quieter at lower speeds than a lot of others on the market.I think that these fans should be supplied with noise insulating pads, purchased them separately and fans sound slightly better, worth the extra layout.
Used two of these on a Liebert UPS GXT2 that is being used for an entertainment center. This device runs the internal fans at full speed whether it is on or off. The original 12V Sanyo Denki 9A0812S402 80mm fans were like small buzz saws. I could hear them from 2 rooms away even in a cabinet with the door closed. I found the OEM airflow for these was around 42 CFM @ 3,400 RPM. I did some load testing using an infrared thermometer. I found the OEM fans were overkill for what I needed. After reading a lot of datasheets, bench tests, and reviews, I decided on the Noctura line. The NF-R8 with about 31 CFM @ 1,800 RPM worked for my needs. I chose the older model to save money since it met my needs. I did have to cut off the 4 pin connector and solder the old proprietary ... I did have to cut off the 4 pin connector and solder the old proprietary connectors onto the leads- yellow is +12V, black is ground, blue and green are not used. Bottom line, if you need a fairly quiet 80mm fan that still moves a good bit of air, give these or their newer replacements the NF-A8 a try.
Got this to blow over the HDD in the cage in the lil cubby in a Fractal Design Define R6 case. If you have this or other Define cases you know where I mean. Don't bother trying a 92mm fan there, it looks like it'll fit but won't. Anyway this is perfect, it's hidden and silent, even cranked up to 100% I still cannot hear it, didn't even buy rubber gasket for it. Lowered a WD Black 6TB 7200 HDD temp from 40 C Idle to 34 C Idle with no added sound. I imagine temp deltas would be even more significant during heavy write loads. Looks like it would work great for old PSU's, lab equipment, SFF media pc's, or servers too.
Teamed this up with 2x Arctic F12 120mm and honestly, you can not hear a thing from this. I have unplugged both Arctic fans to see the noise level and it is seriously quiet. This is used as a pull fan at the top of the tower (Ancient Lian Li case that can only fit an 80mm)Temps have dropped 8-12 on load depending which game is being played (based on both Arctic F12's running aswell)As it is only 1800rpm, it doesnt move huge amounts of air, but for previous fans at this speed, it moves slightly more. All in all, great product for silence and to add to a decent airflow already and brilliant service from OcUK as always! Both are high recommendations!!
Not something I am proud of, but I bought this fan because I underestimated the size of a RTX3080. The only place I could mount my AIO was in front of my case. Due to the enormous size of the 3080 I was left with a dilemma, do I take apart everything and get a new case, a different GPU (right...), or do I remove one of the 120mm fans? Instead of just removing the fan I decided to replace it with a smaller one; the Noctua 80mm. Got some small zip ties, threaded them through the screw holes on both the fan and radiator, tightened until they were flush, and boom, we are good. These little things keep my CPU around 120F max under heavy loads, like playing Civ6. Their color sucks but they are cool and quiet.
