Best GPU on the market, increase value proposition
30 January 2021Efcv

When the RTX 30 series cards released, the RTX 3090 was certainly the worst in terms of the value proposition it held. However, with the tariffs implemented, and the cost of manufacturing going up(GDDR6X prices going up) among other things, the RTX 3090 and ESPECIALLY the 3090 FE has grown in terms of its value in my opinion. One thing Nvidia has always lacked with their card releases is VRAM. They always have amazing new GPU cores, but dont pack the card with sufficient VRAM to sustain realistic use for the long term. With the increased pricing being implemented by card partners, the 3090 FE @ $1500 MSRP is now in my opinion one of the best buys per dollar spent. You future proof yourself on the VRAM side with 24GB of GDDR6X AND the 3090 is one of the easiest cards ... MoreWhen the RTX 30 series cards released, the RTX 3090 was certainly the worst in terms of the value proposition it held. You future proof yourself on the VRAM side with 24GB of GDDR6X AND the 3090 is one of the easiest cards to get at the moment(because as the price goes down, demand goes up, meaning 3060/3060Ti/3070/3080 all have a higher demand because more people can afford them then the 3090). When these cards were first announced, I was planning to upgrade from my EVGA GTX 960 SSC to a 3070. My opinion quickly changed that if I was going to upgrade, I may as well just get the 3080. Getting a Founders Edition was always in the plans because they sustain their value better then most card partner releases. After 3 months of trying to grab any 30 series card I could, battling bots on every site I was lucky enough to get a 3090 FE in my cart on BestBuy. I purchased it without hesitation, and couldnt be happier with the decision. Even when I pulled the trigger, the value proposition wasnt that great, and I wasnt sure I would keep the card(i had friends i would sell to for MSRP+tax if i didnt) but I am happy I did. I have tested it against the ASUS TUF(for those that dont know, of all board partners, ASUS is making the best 30 series partner cards by far) and the Founders Edition had a far better overclock(this may be due to the TUF card only using 2 power cables rather then the 3 many 3090’s including the ASUS STRIX use). All in all, the value you get for this card @ $1600 out the door(including tax) has just gone up. Anyone who ‘settled’ for a 3090 due to the lack of 3080’s previously are the big winners here with the costs of all cards across the board going up. If you have the chance to grab this card and you are on the fence if you really want to, or need to, just grab it. This card will hold its MSRP value long after the GPU market returns to its normal state, so get some enjoyment out of having a new GPU now and sell down the road if you really want. But I bet overwhelmingly that others will see the increasing value in this card the same as I now do.The card is BEAUTIFULLY made, it does get HOT to the touch due to the entire card being a passive heatsink/finstack, but I have never once seen the core temps go above 60C in any game or benchmark which is truly impressive. I have this paired with an i9-10850k and it absolutely crushes just about anything I throw its way. Good luck to all in your hunt for a GPU. I am building a second PC with a 5950x as soon as I can get my hands on one, and would have no hesitation to throw another 3090FE in it.PS; thank you bestbuy, while your checkout system isnt perfect for 30 series GPU’s and 5000 series Ryzen processors, it is FAR AND AWAY the most consumer centric. Great job.

Let me start by saying obviously - this is the hardest card to get on the market. Ironically, it was also a budget choice for me due to the fact that 3080ti's are selling well above this on the aftermarket and third-party vendors are selling their 3080ti's for the same if not more expensive so it was an easy choice for me to get this card since I have the intention to water-cool it at some point.Performance - it is the top of the top, the only knock is the temps under high load so what I recommend is buying new thermal pads and replacing them (I Used Thermalright Extreme Oddesey 1.5mm) for more efficient cooling. It is super easy to do and there are tons of videos on how to do it as well. You CANNOT lose your warranty for disassembling the product - so don't fear ... MoreLet me start by saying obviously - this is the hardest card to get on the market. You CANNOT lose your warranty for disassembling the product - so don't fear as this is a relatively easy task to do.Build - I was SHOCKED with how heavy this GPU weighed and it is because it is made VERY WELL. Also, it should be it is $1500! It has caps for all the screws, the fans run really quietly, and generally just feels good to the touch. Being my first reference card ever bought I was blown away with how much better its construction is vs some 3rd party vendors. On a side note, this card is HUGE - it was about 3/4th the size of my G915 Full-size keyboard so make sure your case and PCI slot can fit this as it is a huge and heavy card. Make sure you get a bracket for your motherboard as well to prevent GPU sag. This card does have two white (non-RGB) lights that are either both on or both off, they aren't very bright so if you don't particularly care for them or the color it isn't a big deal as you can only slightly see them through tinted glass.Conclusion- If you can secure this card and afford it, It is the best on the market in the 1400+ range and especially so at MSRP. Bragging rights, frames and a solid-looking card that can blend in with most builds is what you can look forward to. It is super easy to say this is the best card on the market when many can't get it - but if you get the chance to at MSRP I would pull the trigger every single time on this card.

Suggest if you go to 1 of these that you take pictures of the line each hour in front of and behind you starting when you get there. If everyone did so, BB could easily see and prove who the cutters were and kick them out and it would stop. 14 people apparently cut in behind guy #1 August 26th - then THE SAME CLIWNS were there at the next event Oct 1 and tried to let 15 friends in at around position 11 and were still calling more on the phone (some even arrived by Uber!) before management finall intervened and kicked 8 of the 15 out.

Great card with a few drawbacks
29 June 2021

Performance: 5/5Features: 5/5Design: 5/5Price: 3/5Thermals: 3/5Noise: 3/5Price is definitely a pain point for someone who wants best bang for buck. So really, this card is for someone who has enough money to not worry about that kind of thing.Thermals and noise under gaming conditions are good, however there was an issue with a light coil whine noise. Nothing that a good headphone can't cancel out, but personally, I don't use headphones that often.Under machine learning/rendering/mining conditions, thermals are absolutely atrocious. With VRAM TJunction temperatures reaching 110C where it starts thermal throttling. Definitely recommend replacing the thermal pads with something rated for 12w/mK if you plan on doing non-gaming workloads.

Price vs. Value you know the story

It's an RTX 3090 FE and I was one of the lucky ones able to pick this up at MSRP. So, what can I say that hasn't already been said in hundreds of other reviews? The power pin cable isn't quite as much of a pain if you have a modular psu. This card even though it's a triple slot card was able to fit in my mini-itx case with absolutely no issue. The horizontal profile of my mobo definitely helped in that department with regard to stability as well. Here is a HUGE issue that never should have made it past QA: The radiator fins on the rear blower fan, one of the fins is tucked down far too much and it rubs against the fan itself. This causes a loud screeching chirp very similar to an angry cicada in your case. This causes a loud screeching chirp very similar to an angry cicada in your case. The fix for this is to take a flat head screwdriver or some other flat, sturdy device that will fit and pry the fin away from the fan. I needed to do this for a few minutes until the fin would stabilize and stop bending back into the fan. But, it was an easy fix that could have caused a major problem and really shouldn't have made it past QA because upon visual inspection it was easy to spot. Attached image tells the story, look for the little red circle. The value of the card vs say a 3080 or even a 3080TI is a bit off the mark and I believe at the msrp it's still a bit too high considering the performance vs one step down. However, when compared to the 20 series cards these prices are pretty good. So, it really just depends on how you feel about these cards and whether you think paying anything above MSRP or actual MSRP for these cards is within your budget and you're willing to deal with the fact that these cards only became available this late into the game when Nvidia is already dropping leaks about it's 40 series cards. (which will likely be in super short supply as well.)

Quite literally a monster.
10 September 2021

This thing is a monster. I've also gotten an EVGA 3090 FTW3, along with the hybrid water cooling kit for it. Everybody on Reddit talked about how these FE cards ran crazy hot and to be ready to change thermal pads - well I'll have to do that on my EVGA card which is hitting 110c on the memory junction, but this card maxes out at around 89c at the junction after hours, even days of full use. It's crazy -- I'm sure I could lower it, but after everything I'm heard I'm very satisfied with its quality out of the box. Also, this thing is HUGE! They're all 3 slot cards, but this thing actually has a three slot output panel on it, the little piece of metal you screw down that has your display ports. It's insane, and I couldn't fit it into any of my existing mounting ... MoreThis thing is a monster. I've also gotten an EVGA 3090 FTW3, along with the hybrid water cooling kit for it. It's insane, and I couldn't fit it into any of my existing mounting hardware (it will fit fine in a PC case, don't worry). That aside, even holding it -- and having held other 3090s -- this thing is absolutely massive. Hilariously so.A 3080 is a better choice for 99% of people and is an insane value if you can get the FE version, but this was all that was left in stock when the I moved up the line. Still, I'm very happy with it. If you want the absolute best of the best this is what you want, and getting the FE for $1650 or so after tax - while still not the greatest value compared to the 3080 - is way better than some of the other 3090s that cost 2k+.

Stunning Visuals, Top-Tier Performance
6 February 2023

This graphics card delivers stunning performance and incredibly realistic visuals. In my experience, it can handle even the most demanding games with ease. With real-time ray tracing and AI-accelerated features, this card sets a high standard for graphics performance. Having upgraded from a 3070, I can vouch that the increase in performance is noticeable in every aspect of gaming. The 3090 offers higher frame rates, smoother gameplay, and faster rendering times, which makes the overall experience much more enjoyable.

Well, like many others I couldn’t find a gpu ever since the 3000 series gpu’s were released. Gave up on the search and later popped in to my local Microcenter and saw that they had the 3080 I wanted as well as a founders 3090. Ended up grabbing the 3090 because it was only a few hundred more. Needless to say, the beast not only looks great in your case but it can handle ANYTHING that you give it. The card is a bit overkill for myself and those looking to game but it will keep you future-proofed for quite a bit of time. I am mainly using it for rendering, gaming, photo/video processing and have yet to see performance less than outstanding especially when paired with my 5900x with heavy workloads (video/graphics rendering, Microsoft flight sim).If you’re having ... MoreWell, like many others I couldn’t find a gpu ever since the 3000 series gpu’s were released. Yea it’s a little overkill but it’s nice knowing that you’ll be able to handle any next gen titles and future computing without hiccups. Especially when you find a founders 3090 for a few hundred dollars more than the fancy 3080’s and 3080ti’s out there.

This is the fastest nVidia card available as of this writing, and Best Buy is the only company authorized to sell the Founder's edition retail.I read that Best Buy would have stock of nVidia graphics cards in the very next morning, so I got up and waited in line for about an hour. I had some great conversations with some very interesting people in line, so I do not consider it time wasted.4/5 stars because it does have some downsides:1. The card is comically large. It's like a caricature of a 3080. I had to remove and shift all of the hard drives in my large case to fit it, and it fit only because of a design quirk of the case. It is unlikely to fit in a large number of cases, Measure carefully!2. not worth the price over 3080 but for what the market is, you get to have the best in the market for the cheapest price for a 3090. can get 110mh/s and stay 96C or lower on vram and low 40s for gpu. 4k gaming ridiculously good. with great power comes great prices as in you will be spending alotta money in pc components to match the 3090 capabilities, not to mention a case that can handle the size as well as a 4k@120hz tv or better display. i plan on not buying a new pc and a tv for the next 5-10 years and hipe that it stays "future proof." that is the only way i can percieve the price as worth it.2nd fan is hella loud. 1st fan not so much, but isnt quite considered quiet either at full load.2nd fan is relatively quiet until 50% speed and 1st fan upto 60%. after ... Morenot worth the price over 3080 but for what the market is, you get to have the best in the market for the cheapest price for a 3090. can get 110mh/s and stay 96C or lower on vram and low 40s for gpu. 1st fan not so much, but isnt quite considered quiet either at full load.2nd fan is relatively quiet until 50% speed and 1st fan upto 60%. after that... good luck keeping your system cool if you want to maintain noise levels. 2nd fan is literally a jet engine and 1st fan is like sticking ur face outside a moving vehicle.
