NYX Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer 30 ml

I really thought I would of loved this because of what others had told me. But I just didn't. I will say it's super smooth feeling but it's like it didn't want to soak into my skin. It just sat on top of my skin. It was sooo bad once I tried to apply my foundation on top. It was sooo patchy and just made my foundation look dry on top of my skin too. Almost flakey looking. Like it and the foundation would ball up and just not blend out in areas. And I dont typically have dry skin or oily either. I had high hopes for this and I loved how it felt on my fingers alone, but it just didn't work for me. It almost feels like it would have pore filling properties as well, but nope not for me at all.

I typically use this as a everyday primer and I like it. It is a dupe for smashbox and benefits poreless filter primer. I do notice that my makeup doesn’t stay on as long I would want it to and my makeup does pill with it. The consistency is very nice and lightweight. I typically only use a few drops on my face. It is a very good price and affordable. It is important to make sure you are using the correct foundation with the primer. It doesn’t clog my pores or make me break out.

Tbh I would hang on to this just for the #aesthetic if I didn't have like 5 other primers already. On top of looking pretty, it smells bomb and is a really, really nice primer, especially for such a low price! It wasn't a good fit for my oily skin, but people with normal-dry skin will probably love this stuff. It felt really light when I applied it and gave me a similar sort of feel as Smashbox Photo Finish, but closer to a moisturizer, if that makes sense? It felt like it sank into my skin a little bit more. Before I begin my review on the NYX Angel Veil Primer, I have normal skin (not oily or dry), fair complexion and I put on CeraVe Ultra Light Moisturizing Lotion every morning. I want to be thorough because sometimes what we put on BEFORE primer effects how it works. I find this non-scented primer to be elegant, velvety with a satin finish. I do not get any white or chalky after-effect using this. It glides on and literally blurs all my pores even though it’s not specifically for masking pores (although they do make a primer for that as well). I really like this Angel Veil primer and I like that it’s a drugstore find (also sold at other retailers like Sephora, Ulta and more). The only reason for not giving this 5 stars is the price. I know it’s less expensive than a lot of other high end primers but $16.00 for a 1.02 ounce seems a bit high. You don’t use as much because it is a primer but I’d expect this to be a little less. But that’s just a very nitpicky bullet point. Overall, a good, solid performing primer. Now I have said this a million times and will probably say it a million more in my lifetime : With some items price point truly is an indicator of quality. Make up is definitely one of those categories that I feel you really get what you pay for. With that being said I don't have many drug store items in my makeup collection. Probably three or four items at most. This product however I ALWAYS make sure to restock up on when I run out ! The name suits the primer ! The formula is so velvety and truly does blur imperfections and leave skin feeling smooth as ever ! Just keep in mind my price point theory rings true in this scenario as you'll be shoveling out nearly 20 dollars for this bad boy. It is worth every red cent in my opinion!

Absolutely love it!!

Such a great primer for oily skin. It'll be hours before I start to blot my face. And even then, the blotting is minimal. I was initially hesitant when I read reviews about how it applies weirdly on your skin and has a very dry consistency. I see what they mean, but honestly, if you have oily skin it shouldn't be a problem. As long as you moisturize beforehand, you should be okay. Hands down the best primer for oily skin and a great dupe for the Hourglass Veil primer.

Alluring Beauty

You all, this primer here is a GAME CHANGER! I’ve used some of the higher end brands and they just DO NOT compare. This stuff literally shrinks your pores and give you a such a smooth finish and lay with your makeup. Every time I use this everything just lays in a synchronized way. I pray NYX never gets rid of this product. I just might have to buy up the entire stock whenever I go to my nearest target to purchase just to be on the safe side. I always get compliments of how well my makeup is laid and there is no doubt this primer plays a huge part in that with the matte finish primer. Highly recommended!

Favourite holy grail primer for years

I'm shocked to see negative reviews for this primer! I've been using it for years now and can't do without. Despite having a matte finish, it leaves my skin with a satin sheen, rather than looking flat or dull like some other mattifying products. My makeup stays put all day, with no need for touch ups. I've seen some reviews refer to the primer causing piling or a white cast - in this case, I would just say less is more. One thing I'd say is its probably not suitable for very dry skin types. Just make sure you are adequately moisturised beforehand and you are good to go :)

Not for Dry textured skin

I went into Ulta one day actually looking for a different primer that turned out not to be in stock. I asked an Ulta employee for a recommendation; I have very dry textured skin and I honestly just want my foundation to go on naturally. I'm not looking for a super flawless look-I just want my skin to look nice. She told me this stuff would be great; only use a little and it would really perfect my skin so that makeup would go on easy. It did not do this. I have dry skin so I moisture before I put on makeup, but this stuff was insane. It goes on with a white tint, which quickly disappears if you rub it in, but my poor skin looked white. This stuck to every textured and dry spot so it looked like I had white speckles all over my face. I am thankful that Ulta has such a generous return policy because I did just return this; I was never going to be able to wear it because it was just terrible for me. I don't recommend for dry/textured skin.

Worked great at first

I bought this primer a while back, this one was the first and only primer I've ever tried. It worked like I assume a primer should work, felt kinda funny on your fingers and then on your face when you rubbed it in (smells weird too) but it provides a really good base for your makeup. I only really wear concealer, and I put it over my blemishes, under my eyes, and on my t-zone. When I used the primer before applying, though, my makeup definitely looked much better and stayed put much longer. My only issue with this product is that recently (I think it was a few days ago) I went to use it again and instead of the typical tiny line of cream that comes out, this weird watery, milky liquid came out onto my finger. Opened it, same thing came out but with some flecks of the cream in it. Closed it, shook it vigorously again for 30 more seconds, same thing happened so I just tried squeezing a little more out and some solidified cream came out, but it felt different than it has before. Nonetheless, I put a tiny bit on my finger and tried applying it to see if it felt the same. Something was definitely wrong with it but I can't figure it out, also the watery stuff alone on my skin felt really weird and sort of velvety (but NOT in a good way, like the texture just felt fuzzy almost and very weird), and it would just sit on top of the skin. Don't really get why it's suddenly all watery and weird? The only 'change' it's gone through recently is that I moved it from its place laying down in my makeup bag to standing up on this rotating makeup organizer thing I got. But like...that's not that drastic of a change? It's just gone from laying down to standing up. Also, it's not like I've gotten to the last bits of the product, the bottle's at least 2/3 full because I don't wear makeup too often.
