Oakley Holbrook Matte Black/Grey Prizm Sunglasses

I first received a pair of Oakley Shaun White edition Holbrooks in 2012 as a present from a girlfriend who worked at Oakley in Zurich, and cherished them for years for their frame quality, optical clarity, and because they were a gift. Sadly the left arm came off on a snowboarding trip a couple of years ago and I lost that arm. Apparently Oakley no longer had spares of the arms so I bought this pair as a replacement. Same great frame quality and optical clarity, sadly not the same sentimental value. Will buy again.

Another solid purchase.

I chose the MotoGP urban camo frame/24k iridium lens series and I am very pleased with the purchase. I'm a long time Oakley customer and always purchase limited edition or signature series items exclusively. I figure if I'm going to spend the money on "high(er)-dollar" glasses, I want something a bit more special than the average product line. This helps me be more conscious to take care of them as well.As I've stated in another review, many customers have a perception that, because of the price, Oakleys are supposed to be indestructible. If you are the type of person that loses glasses all the time or puts them through very hard use, this model is probably not for you. Oakley makes different series that are meant for extreme use (military/LEO, etc....) which may suit your needs much better. However, with the more "casual/fashion" oriented glasses, you cannot expect them to be bomb-proof. Remember, you are paying for high-quality lenses and exclusive styles, not unrealistic durability.That being said, I have NEVER cracked or otherwise broken Oakley frames. The lenses will become scratched over time, but this depends purely on how you take care of them. The only other issue I've ever had were the rubber "ear socks" on a pair of Oakley Scalpels wearing away- After 5 years of continuous use!

Best Sunglasses Ever

Awesome sunglasses in every aspect of the design, fit, function, and style. I'm usually skeptical about purchasing eyewear online without trying on first, but the AR-viewing ability helped curb my nerves and helped me get a sense of what they'd look like. Needless to say, they nailed it in virtual realm and reality! Will definitely be purchasing again with this ability to check out products from online and get the comforting sense of what fits. The Polarized-Prizm lenses are outstanding at viewing everything in sharper clarity than expected, adding great detail to any landscape being viewed, water or nature

Disappointment, sugar quality, shipping is a joke

Disappointment overall in the lenses in regards to quality. They just seem cheap, easily breakable. The lenses arent complete tungsten copper color where it will block your eyes from being seen by other people. Shipping is a joke with DhL who will just transfer it to USPS after sitting on it. Oakley packages your glasses without giving a hoot. Just throw the glasses in an oversized box with no packing peanuts or even paper. Let em bounce around in there, that’s why you pay so much money right.

Favourite pair of sunglasses

The black iridium lenses are great for bright/sunny days and are my go-to’s for these conditions. I haven’t noticed any distortion, which isn’t always the case with sunglasses. The frames are a pretty classic and subdued design and the matte finish keeps things even more low-key. I like it that way, but if you’re looking for something that stands out a bit more, these aren’t it. I have a medium to large head (about 59cm) and typically wear size large helmets (cycling, hockey, motorcycle). These fit my head and face well. I haven’t tried on the XL’s but I don’t feel the need to.

Happy with what I have, options could be better

Ordered the prescription Holbrook XL sunglasses, with Jade prizm lenses. Overall I’m happy with them, the only thing that I am not satisfied with, is the lack of customization and color options for prescription users. What I really wanted were the shallow water lenses in my prescription, but after a phone call and some online scrounging I discovered that they weren’t available. Jade is the next best for the look I was going for and I am very happy with them, just wish Oakley would offer more!

Lacks comfort

This particular style of Holbrook has beautiful aesthetics. I love the blue polarized/prism lense with this style of Holbrook. A nice variation of camo and black. Overall, beautiful design. My reason for four stars is comfort. The temples (arms) have a tight fit as they hug back of your ears. Slight irritation and pressure as the temples sit on the middle area of your ears near the temple tips. The temples feel as if they have serrated edges as they sit on the area. Slightly heavy. Looks like I'll need to get these adjusted or a pair of different temples all together. I ordered the regular size, not XL. Most people fit the regular size you just need adjusted temples. Just FYI for everyone.

Sensitive lenses

they are pretty good sunglasses, Have a good color enhancement. Good polarization. light, you can wear them all day and no headache or scratchy nose. Only bad thing is that they scratch easily. I only have them for one week and they got scratch. I didn’t drop them or bump into something. they got scratch cleaning them. It was with a microfiber especially for cleaning glasses, and they got scratch. That is my only complain until now.

The quality is there. Tint

The quality is there. Tint level is what you'd expect. If you have a stronger rx, you need to know that the frames leave the lenses at a slight angle so you are not looking through them perfectly straight. This results in a less than perfect picture. This is a non issue though as I don't really expect Oakley to make special lenses just for me. People with those "special eyes" should take that into consideration though! Great product worth the cash stack. I will definitely come back for more if need be.

Worth the Investment

I bought the all black Holbrooks with black polarized prizm lenses about two months ago. I never write reviews but I have to for these. There's only been a few sunny days where I've been able to wear the sunglasses and they're amazing. The colors come through vibrantly and lenses cut out glare. It's almost like they're telling your eyes to see better. I feel like normal sunglasses just make everything darker, these block out sun while still providing unmatched vibrance and visibility. It's a hefty price tag, but they're great for driving, fishing, or everyday wear. If you have the money to invest in a quality pair of sunglasses, you won't be disappointed.
