The On Stage MS7701 is a standout among less expensive microphone boom stands. While there are several stands of very similar profile with better ruggedness and overall higher quality, they are substantially more expensive. There are also quite a few of similar price but far inferior quality. There are a few danger zones on a boom stand of this type. Many cheap units connect the boom arm to the vertical tube at a welded crimp in the vertical. This will not last much handling. The main clutch on the boom arm is a metal dumbbell type which is pretty solid, considering it will be the most manipulated joint of the stand. I have used a similar On Stage stand for years, taking it out on jobs all over, and it has stood the test of time with no failure. The older one was a bit more substantial in the choice of knobs and such, but the ones recently purchased seem to be basically the same in quality. The cable clamps are actually much improved in the new units. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a stand that will not receive a lot of transport and wear and tear. If you are careful with it, it will last a long time, and you will not find a better value in this price range.

We use only OnStage mic stands in our rehearsal area as well as when we do road gigs requiring us to bring our own PA system. These two were purchased as backups for the road PA system, just in case one of our regular OnStage stands gets damaged or goes AWOL. I've been performing for well over 40 years now, as a full-time performer, band member, backup musician, currently with a regional band (we're all now part time), and I can tell you that these OnStage mic stands are rugged and reliable.

Overall:If you're a Live Sound Engineer, or a touring musician that needs a reliable boom stand day in & day out, then these stands are not for you. I ordered these for an event showcase & the first stand i pulled out of the box was missing the metal barbell like mechanic that is needed to tighten the boom arm part of the stand. It was broken & located inside box & when I tried to screw it back together the threads were already stripped. So just like that the first stand was no good. Opened the 2nd box & the same problem. Haven't heard back from zZounds customer service after a couple of days of waiting so I'm guessing i'm stuck with these broken stands. Do yourself a favor & just save for some quality stands.

I bought these stands as a package deal, 6 stands and a bag. For the most part they are functional, The one problem that I had with all 6 stands was were you adjust the angle of the boom. There is a rod that goes through the tightening screw which has a ball on either end to keep the rod in place. Those balls come loose and the rod falls out of its hole in the tightening screw. The balls are tiny and can be lost, meaning the rod will not stay in place. I've used an adhesive to secure the balls to the end of the rod. Of course this happened when I was at a gig and the ball and rod disappeared, so now I have a stand that I cannot adjust the angle of the boom without pliers. Not the way to do it.
It works just fine for someone who has a home studio: it's very easily adjustable and stable for a cheap microphone stand. The only issue i have had so far is the ball thingy for the rod that fixes the position just fell off of one them without any sort of provocation. I guess you can twist it with your shirt if you lose the rod, but that would be a major inconvenience. I wouldn't recommend this if you are using particularly heavy or expensive microphones, you might as well spend some extra money in that circumstance, but if you are just running a simple home studio like me, then this is just fine.
I have used a pair of older On Stage boom stands for several years, and they have served me well. So, I thought that getting another On Stage stand was a safe bet. However, I was very disappointed with the quality of this stand. I bought two, and the threads on one of them stripped immediately upon initial set up. The other one does not tighten very well, and I'm afraid to tighten it too much, fearing that it will strip too. I doubt either of these stands will get much use. They're definitely not road worthy.
I play and sing in many different kinds venues so maximum portability and reliability is a must. This stand fills the bill but just barely. The base is weighted enough to prevent most tipping over but an SM-58 on a fully extended boom would not be a good idea; too shaky. But extended 60/40 it is very stable. The locking screws and the clutch need to be tightened with quite a bit of force to prevent drooping dropping and sagging. But that goes for all of the cheap stage gear out there.I can't complain because it works and the price was low. I've only used it for a couple or three gigs so far as I just bought it. Time will tell how durable it is.
I bought one of these On Stage / Euro stands from B&H so long ago that I can't remember when. Ever since, I've used it with an Azden Pro wireless (also from B&H) ever since with great audio on my Canon VIXIA HG20 camcorder (also from B&H). Now I'm upgrading to a Canon pro dynamic mic with shoe attachment, and so won't need a mic stand anymore. So, I'm buying a second OnStage/Euro stand for indoors led lighting. There seeems no evidence that my old stand will work less well than the new one.
Overall:this was on recommendation when I was purchasing Neumann TLM 103. I had it set up and was going to see how it'll look when I put on shock mount. Realized it's too skinny to add onto it and goes the same thing what it came with it. It maybe because it's a stage stand, and this mic is meant for studio. My fault on my end not to double check, but "related accessories" should be little bit more accurate. So, heads up when choosing product that's under "related accessories." other than that. Shipping is great. fast and like the ideal to call and confirmed the order
