So thankful I found open farms lamb blend! My cocker spaniel is allergic to almost all proteins with the exception of lamb. He no longer suffers from hot spots and is one happy little guy. Thank you open farm, truly I don’t know what I would’ve done. Easy, affordable and I know my little guy is getting exactly what he needs in every meal.

I found out about this company online and started to do some research, and found out I love what they stand for! The transparency, sustainability, and proper treatment of all the animals is awesome! I love that they look at pets as family members instead who deserve the best quality food! I ordered the lamb dry food for my cats which got delayed like a week. So I emailed the customer service. Guess what they not only got back with me, but told me actually what had happened as to why my package got delayed. They also went ahead and reordered my order with a bonus 12oz bone broth AT NO CHARGE!!!! That’s how you keep peoples trust and business… that alone made me confirm this will be the only food my cats will be eating from here on out! And oh yeah my cats love love ... MoreI found out about this company online and started to do some research, and found out I love what they stand for! I just sent this company a personal “thank you” but the product needs one as well. I’ve been getting this one and the blue one for my cat for a year now. When my cat hit 5 years, I started exploring more options for healthy foods for him, knowing what his size may bring him in his elderly years. I went through raw, expensive, and pre made. I wanted something high end but within my budget though. A conveniently landed on this brand after wanting to try something new, it had been a full year and several brands later at this point.Since he was under 1 years old, he had never had a normal hair ball. He would puke for 3-4 days periodically before getting his hairball up. This has lasted for 6.5 years without his vets not knowing what’s up. Turns out, it may have been his food all along because he finally has good hair balls at the age of 7. It took a month before we noticed anything different but that completely stopped. I add a bit of water as well to help aid in his heavily saturated bladder. He has had chronic UTI’s on top of all of this and he hasn’t had a single one on this food.If you doubt this brand, don’t. All cats are different when it comes to what they need but know that this food has at least changed the life of a loving cat and his girl. Also the lamb is his favorite.

Lamb for a fussy cat with a chicken allergy
23 March 2021

Hudson, a rescue cat, used to regurgitate often. I tried to slow down his eating, but it turns out that he has a chicken allergy, plus he refuses to eat wet or soft food. While picking up cat foods without chicken, I purchased salmon and rabbit. Also I mistakenly picked up lamb dog kibble. He refused the rabbit and was just OK with the salmon, but he finished the whole bag of lamb dog food with gusto. Then, I realized my mistake and began hunting for cat kibble with lamb. It was difficult to find but that lead me to Open Farm and I am so glad that it did. Hudson absolutely loves Open Farm dry cat food made with lamb plus he is so much more full of energy for playing now. I am also very pleased with the quality and responsible source. My Aussie/Boarder Loves Open Farm Lamb recipe
6 October 2024

I switched my Aussie/Collie diet to Lamb recipe after she had many problems with a lamb feed from a big box store. She has no more bowel irregularities. Her coat is beautifully soft & she doesn’t lick her paws like she used to. I’ve also noticed that she responds better, has less hyper energy, better focus than the previous diet. It’s been a success! I do add a protein topping that she enjoys too. It’s a great feeling to feed my girl well balanced, traceable healthy food. Many Thanks to Chuck &Don’s as well as Open Farms for this fantastic food!

Not what it’s hyped up to be

Thought this food was okay at first but my dog is now constantly itching, always has dry skin and flakes all over his body now. I mean ALL over. From the tip of his nose, to the tip of his tail, even his ears and down his legs. He’s even started scratching his chin so bad that we have to stop him so he doesn’t make himself bleed. I know it isn’t a lamb allergy as he has eaten lamb before and has never had this reaction, same with other grain free dog foods that contain whitefish so it must have something to do with how they formulate this food. Also the fact that open farm has poor customer service I would not recommend it to someone else. They changed the recipe when they changed the look of this bag and didn’t warn people in an anyway to the recipe change. They changed the recipe when they changed the look of this bag and didn’t warn people in an anyway to the recipe change. This caused my dog severe diarrhea as well as blood in his stool from the sudden change without warning so I was unable to transition him. They also changed their bag sizes from 22lbs to 24lbs without letting people know. (I received their emails so I would know of some kind of update, they didn’t send an email in this regard of recipe change. Or size change.)My dog is no longer eating this food and I don’t think I’ll be shopping from Open Farm again anytime soon.

Open Farm Lamb (Grain Free)
26 November 2024

My dog has been on Open Farm since she was around 8 months old. She is now almost 3 years old, and honestly she is doing pretty well on this brand of food. It has fresh and high key ingredients that my dog seems to like. The only thing I will say, is I wish it wasn't so high in calories and it could be lower in fat. I've had her on different flavours; beef, salmon and now she is on the lamb. She is a little overweight and i'm wondering if it's from the coconut oil and sunflower oil. Other then that I still like Open Farm, and that there are different choices (grain or grain free) and there are so many different flavour options other than chicken.

Since I’ve become aware that
4 December 2023

Since I’ve become aware that most standard dog foods don’t fulfill the dogs needs, I’ve become interested in how I can give my fur babies the best that I’m able to provide. OPEN FARM Pasture Raised Lamb is the ideal base to my spoiled little guys. Even though the dry food is sufficient , I like to top it with meats, fish, and vegetables. They always clean their bowls and I love to see them enjoy their meals.

Solved sensitive tummy/soft poop puppy problem!
8 December 2021

First, it took me MONTHS to discover a kibble that worked for my now 8 month old 50lb Ridgeback/Pitbull baby. At 3 months, she was originally on hills science large breed chicken puppy food until I discovered she has a bad chicken sensitivity. We moved to merrick beef & sweet potato but still didn’t solve the issue…Then we tried OpenFarm beef & ancient grain. There was a slight improvement but nothing consistent. We moved away from ancient grains to see if just beef would help. Again, improvement but no luck. I was adding pumpkin and boiled egg whites and OpenFarm beef broth to try helping bad tummy issues. Then she got what I believe was giardia (the worst!) and with everything thing going wrong, I researched lamb and venison benefits. Then she got what I believe was giardia (the worst!) and with everything thing going wrong, I researched lamb and venison benefits. With the venison option being a little too much for my pocket, we tried OpenFarm lamb. At first I figured it was making things worse! Her poops were terribly watery at times. She was on an antibiotic and probiotics at the time. That’s when I began adding oatmeal to her kibble. After that, VOILA!!! Improvement! We are now only using the lamb kibble with an added tablespoon of cooked oats and water to soften. Her poops are consistently FIRM and healthy! No more bad tummy issues. I’m afraid to try any other dog food based on how bad things were so we’re gonna stick with what’s working for us.I am SOOOOOOOO happy the bad tummy phase is over (knock on wood) as it was racking up the vet costs. If you are having stomach problems with your fur baby, and even beef isn’t cutting it, I certainly suggest the lamb dry dog food. Anytime I prep her food she sits waiting. The aroma definitely grabs her before hearing the food hit the bowl. I hope you find a healthy option that solves your pups problems!

This was terrible for my coonhound
5 October 2022

I normally feed Acana to my Treeing Walker Coonhound, which my she will do back flips for. I got irritated when their packaging changed to being sourced worldwide. I couldn't get any of my questions answered when I asked if anything came from China. That's a red flag. I found this brand listed on a blog and thought, whoa, this fits the bill. That's where the excitement ended. Getting her to actually eat this food was not fun. I had to put her canned food into the kibble, which I don't like doing. That is always a separate feeding for her. She disliked this food to the point that if she found any of these little kibbles, she spit them all over my floor. Yikes! Doesn't end there, it almost made her eat her own feet off!!! I've never seen a reaction like this. This dog is a garbage hound that doesn't have issues with food and devours anything put in front of her. I had to do a super fast transition to Orijen and risk gi upset just to save her from infected feet. Within 3 days into doing an emergency swap, she has completely stopped eating her feet. I couldn't even donate the bag to anyone because I was scared they would have issues as well and I'd feel guilty. I fully recommend getting a sample or trial size first to be sure you are not going to be out $100 if your pet cannot tolerate it.
