The Opinel brand (Joseph Opinel 1872-1960) is well known for its folding pocket knives. Made in the French Alps since 1890, Opinel knives are rooted in their mountain roots, robustness and simplicity. The symbol is a "crowned hand" on the blade. Several hundred million beechwood and steel knives have been sold worldwide since the company was founded. Stainless steel is a metal designed to resist corrosion. It is obtained by adding chromium.
