Optimel Manuka Dry Eye Drops - 10ml
OPTIMEL Manuka+ Dry Eye Drops 10ml has a formula to help stabilise the surface health of the eye from dry eye symptoms such as sore, irritated eyes and eyelids. Optimel Manuka+ Dry Eye Drops assist the surface health of the eye by creating a microenvironment that supports healing and prevents further damage. When applied to the surface of the eye, they help create a low pH environment that acts on bacteria that may potentially colonise the traumatised surface. Single patient use only DO NOT use if you have a history of hypersensitivity or sensitivity to honey, food gums or benzoate preservatives without seeking medical advice. DO NOT insert whilst wearing contact lenses. Wait at least 30 minutes before inserting lenses. Use by children aged less than 12 years should be on the advice of an eye care specialist or doctor. The preservative used in Optimel Manuka Dry Eye Drops is benzoic acid which is a widely used food preservative rapidly metabolised by the liver and found at naturally high levels in honey from bees of the Leptospermum species. It has been chosen because of its long history of use, natural presence in honey and its effectiveness.

I bought these a few months ago, I gave up with them due to the stinging when putting them in. I started suffering quite badly recently and still had the drops left (although it says to discard 2 month's after opening) I was desperate and could barely keep my eyes open they were so dry. I instilled the drops and within minutes I had immediate relief so I knew for sure this stuff works. Now use morning and night alongside Hylo-Forte. I believe they help to keep the flora/bacteria that causes dry eye under control. The Hylo-Forte is to moisturise the eye. A little stinging when you put them in, but well worth the relief.

This product has put an end to the constantly reoccurring eye infections for over 10 years from dry eyes and lack of tears. I have been using Optimel as suggested by my opthamologistfor a year now and have had no infections. The alternative was oral antibiotics for 6 months. Just brace yourself for the sting on application.

Have used for 2 weeks now. Stings profusely like little pins in your eyes, then a gritty feeling. Makes your eyes water and screw up your face. It is not nice. Not sure if the drops are working but the gel is amazing. Have been using for 4 weeks. Noticed a good difference after 3 days. I have had severe blepharitis for 25 years and tried every eye drops on the market. At last some relief! It stings on application but not for long and I'm already getting used to it. I wake up and can open my eyes properly, I don't have to shut an eye because of the pain. The light sensitivity is better too. Me eyes are more relaxed. I hope it continues to improve. This eye eye drop brand us a lifesaver. I use it once a day. It does sting but it gets rid of grittiness and redness. I have evaporative dry eye because my oil glands in my eyes don't work like they should. To minimise the stinging, I put in my usual lubricant eyedrop first. Then I put the Optimel in each eye and the trick is keep your eyes closed for a full minute at least. Open your eyes too early and there's temporary stinging and redness. Now that I use Optimel regularly it barely stings at all anymore. And I don't get nearly as much burning and dry eyes in general as I used to. It's been amazing. After 30 years of tears that dry in 3 to 5 seconds, I didn't think anything would improve things!
The eye drop I received is not exactly the same as shown on the web page. There is only 2 check marks on the box that was sent to me (i.e. eye discomfort, eye lid irritation). But on the web page, the box has 3 check marks. It has the 3rd check mark as 'reduces lid margin redness'. And the additional ingredients list is also different than that listed on the web page. I don't feel comfortable for this so I am going to return it.
I've had dry eyes for a couple of years now. For some reason, my left eye tends to be worse and sometimes just ends up feeling sore, or like I have something in it. This despite using regular eye drops for dry eyes. My opthalmologist suggested I try these manuka honey drops specifically and said many of his patients found them helpful. Yes, they sting like crazy when you first put in just one drop. It feels counter-intuitive to put them in your eye to begin with to be honest! However, after that there is blessed relief. So now I never go anywhere without them. Just in case. I think of them as rapid first aid for my dry eyes.
Easy to use drops and the results are worth the initial transitional stinging. Do you automatically close your eyes when someone is trying to put drops in them? The easiest method is to instil them onto the inside corner (next to your nose) of your closed eye. The medication will work its way under the lid. I guess the stinging sensation varies with the individual but in my case it was severe and almost as bad as an attack of dry eye. I certainly would not recommend them as artificial tears for children! Consistent use seems to lessen the sensation and after 3 days I hardly noticed anything. However, if there is a gap in the frequency ( i.e. you forget to put them in for a few hours or miss a day) the sting is back with enough tear-producing pain to remind you not ... MoreEasy to use drops and the results are worth the initial transitional stinging. My optometrist said it IS safe to use and that the stinging is not an indication of injury/damage to the eye. I'm hoping to cure my dry eye syndrome with continual use but cannot say a) how long it would take b) if it's possible to cure it permanently.
Recently read about these Manuka honey eye drops & was surprised to find them available here in the UK. Having suffered with blepharitis for many years & tried everything available including on prescription. I was happy to try these eye drops. They have not disappointed, yes they sting but only very slightly & it soon passes. The benefits after using these eye drops after almost two weeks is amazing. I have very few flakes on my eyelashes, the itching has all but gone. I use 3 times a day after cleaning my lids & lashes & I also use HyLO Tear 0.1 percent after letting these eye drops be absorbed. My eyes feel so much better & much more comfortable. I shall continue to use these eye drops as they are the only thing that has given me relief from this chronic eye ... MoreRecently read about these Manuka honey eye drops & was surprised to find them available here in the UK. I have Sjogren’s disease. These eyedrops are amazing and help considerably with blepharitis. The trick is to keep your eyes closed after you put the drops in. There is a very slight sting but it only lasts A few seconds, and if you keep your eyes closed you don’t feel it at all. Other eyedrops seem to work temporarily, but they don’t do that much to truly help my eyes. These drops really, really, really help, And I don’t know what I would do without them.
