It gave the impression that the amp was on the verge of being loud enough, but not quite there. I started setting it vertically and that helped quite a bit. For bigger shows, I'd be mic'ing anyway and have monitors.I also bought an Egnator 112 loaded with a G12H speaker and it sounds great with the DT. I wanted something more portable for practice, but it's turned into my main cab. Tonally, very different from the 212 with Swamp Thangs, but still excellent. Crunchy mids that aren't harsh, but it cuts through the mix.The effects loop works as you would expect. Engaging the loop on my 6505 resulted in additional (and unwanted) treble, but I'm happy that this isn't the case here. I only run a Hall of Fame and Carbon Copy, but there's no noticeable change in tone.Overall, I'm still really happy with this amp. If they made a Dual Terror-equivalent I'd be all over it.

First amp I received was a dud, sent it back and got another. Glad I gave it another try because it sounds great! Plenty of gain, clear sound without the harshness of my DSL. Takes pedals well and has an effects loop. Made in China so that concerns me a bit but time will tell.

I got 2 defective units.

I use the product at home. I LOVED the sound for both clean and metal tones. Unfortunately, I received 2 defective unites both within return period. I ultimately abbandon the amp and going to a Katana Artist. The Katana doesn't sound as good, but it's been reliable.

I love this little amp

This is a great sounding head. I use it with an LTD 401VF and Godin Redline 1, both stock. I paired the head with a Whitebox 212 loaded with Eminence Swamp Thangs. I run a Fulltone OCD pedal in front of the amp and the whole package just sounds great.I've read a couple of the reviews that didn't like this paired with V30's and I agree completely - I nearly passed on this head because I wasn't digging the sounds I was getting with the paired cab. Tough to explain, but the mids sounded messy...the tone just wasn't as clear as I was hoping. I thought that MAYBE my cab would improve the tone so I pulled the trigger and took it home with me. Luckily, I was right - the Swamp Thangs sound massive with the Dark Terror. If there's any issue with the tone, it's that the setup is a little bit too dark sounding now, so I will probably purchase a 112 cab and load it with a bright speaker and switch back and forth for recording/practice.Currently, I live in an apartment with rather thin walls. Not so thin that I have no privacy, but thin enough to where I can't really use this amp. Even on 7 watts at nearly zero volume, it's loud enough to where I worry about the neighbors below hearing me. On the other hand, even at 15 watts, this amp won't keep up with a full band unless it's mic'd up. This bothers me a bit, because it's a little hard to find a use for the amp. I leave it at my parent's place and use the amp maybe once or twice a week, even still the volume is usually around 9 o'clock. I also use the effects send to power a Blackstar HT5 combo, and the two together have enough power to keep up with a band. Those two complaints aside, this is an amp that is just fun to play. The tone is near perfect for what I typically play, which is punk and metal, but this thing will cover everything from AC/DC to Pearl Jam to Neil Young. My love of playing guitar has waned over the years, but this little amp is bringing me back.

Love it!

I am using this in a small home studio where I also use plugins for guitar tones. I am running this through a Sonic vertical 2x12. It sounds great for mid to high gain tones. It wasn't meant to be a clean amp so it doesn't excel at that. Even in the 7 watt setting it is pretty loud so I am using a POD XT Live in the effects loop to 1. Add effects (not amp sim at all) 2. Use the output volume to reduce the level of the preamp going to the power amp. This is giving much better tone than turning the Level control on the amp down. I turn the preamp volume and gain up to where I like it and adjust the overall volume on the Xtlive to suite my needs. Any effect with a volume control should work to do the same-really adds to Tehran usefulness as a practice or bedroom amp. I was concerned about the single tone control but I am ok with it now-easy to switch between rock and metal tones and it is not just like a treble cut tone knob. I also use the parametric on my XTLive in the loop so that helps as well. Looking at similarly priced heads I think I prefer the simplicity and overall tone. I tried a few others that had more features but I couldn't dial in a tone that I liked as easily. I also tried the micro terror but this one seems more like a "real amp" to me i guess.

Monstrous BEAST of high gain Glory!

After playing on the impressive Terror Stamp, I really wanted the Dark Terror. I hesitated purchasing for about a year; but I finally picked one up as an open box deal with significant savings. Let me reiterate, all of the glowing reviews are accurate! This little amp is absolutely amazing! The amount of gain available is mind blowing! And the clarity of notes...WOW, I'm blown away!

What can I say? It's 2017 and I finally bought one. This is my 3rd Orange amp and I must say I'm impressed. At first I was like idk, I'm not that "metal" well, I caved. This little guy covers a lot of spectrums. Blues, punk, metal, classic rock, modern rock (like the band I'm in). I'm just not an FX loop guy so I can say pedals up front sound great. Maybe one day I'll use the loop. Using a Big M$ff when the amp is cleaned up sounds cool. I person like my new TC Electronic Blood Moon phaser in front of the amp. Nice, rich, swirling sounds with the gain at 2 o'clock, shape a tad behind 12. I used it a band practice through a Fender Supersonic 4-12 cab. I have an Orange PPC 4-12 cab also. Best way to describe it... A Tiny Terror on steroids. Like my TH 100 head, this has a Shape EQ as well. I really like these. You can go from Tom Petty to Metallica and everywhere in between with this knob. I'm eventually going to buy a black 1-12 Orange cab for it. Meanwhile running through my 4-12 is great too. My Fender and Vox are now outnumbered by my 3 Orange amps! I may as well get an endorsement! Buy one! You'll love it!

Amazing sounding amp. As an amp builder, I'm super impressed with this circuit. Especially the gain structure and super wide range of tone options. This amp is blowing me away. Now I just wish it was 50 watts so I could gig with it.It records extremely well, it's great for practicing and writing. Although powerful and loud, not quite loud enough for me and my band to use live.

Really, there's a lot I wanna say about this amp and only so much space to write. The more I use it, the more I love it. I've had it for a few months now and have used it with a few different setups.I have two guitars I use with it; an LTD 401VF les paul and and a Godin Redline 1. Both sound great with the amp, but distinctly different in immediately obvious ways. The Godin has an EMG 81 pickup, so it's tight, better for metal. The LTD has a Duncan JB pickup, which I would consider to have a rawer, more prominent upper-midrange than the EMG. Great for rock, but not really super tight for metal (though using my Fulltone OCD changes that). This amp takes well to both guitars. My 6505 made them sound a bit too similar. For cabs, I use both a Whitebox 212 with Swamp Thangs and an Egnater Tweaker 112 with a GH30. Two really different sounding enclosures (I don't use them at the same time). The Tweaker gets more of a brighter, classic rock tone, while the 212 is more modern and dark. Think the difference between old school Neil Young and Bad Religion. That's a good tonal area for me, personally. I typically run the tone knob in the 1-2 o-clock range. The amp doesn't have many options for itself, as many reviews online mention. I went with it strictly for simplicity. The clean DOES sound pretty good, but obviously doesn't have much headroom. The effects loop sounds good and works better than the one on my 6505. I mainly use to it to power a Blackstar HT5 for a bit more power (and to smooth out the GH30), but my Hall of Fame sounds great in the loop, too. The amp can compete with a drummer and bassist using just my Tweaker 112, but it would be difficult to keep up with another guitarist in the mix.Though it just has the one tone knob, I don't have many issues with the EQ. Some added options would be nice, sure. Sometimes I use an OCD, but that's about it.Overall, very happy.
