I have a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier that first started on Orijen Original when I took him off puppy food at around the age of 1. I fed him Orijen for several years and it worked well for him. He is very muscular and athletic and his coat is always very dense and healthy-looking. Our vet always comments on what perfect shape Ike is in. A couple years ago I started hearing about a condition called canine dilated cardiomyopathy and a possible connection to grain-free foods. Wanting to take no chances I switched Ike to a couple different foods containing grains. I tried different grain-inclusive foods and with all of them his stools were looser and messier and harder to clean up. I recently read more about the DCM and the FDA investigation and found that a determination was made that DCM could not be linked to grain-free foods. I switched back to Orijen a couple weeks ago and the problem disappeared. Ike's poops are firm again and he is much easier to clean up after. It may sound like a crazy reason to recommend a dog food but when you are picking up tootsie rolls instead of messy soft-serve three times a day it makes a big difference! Ike and I both love Orijen Original and recommend it.

I switched my Great Dane Lucca over about a little over year ago. He does weight pulling plus other activities, and is 4 years old. His coat is super healthy and his musculature is impeccable. Compared to other foods where i was feeding 8-10 cups a day, and going through 120lbs of food PER MONTH. I definitely love that the 25 lbs bag last a solid 25 days more or less. We use one of his feeding times for training and he loves working for his food. And when waiting for me to finish soaking his food for dinner he has the biggest drool drops while staring intently!

I have a Corgi who I fed Orijen puppy food from an early age, at 1 year old I changed to Arcana Ranchlands adult. Whilst she did eat full bowls of it, she would go 3 days periods and just ignored the food. I changed back to Orijen Original, I fed the first bowl and she ate it immediately without hesitation. Knowing she had just eaten I put a second bowl down thinking she would eat again when hungry, once again she immediately consumed the whole bowl. Seeing this reaction is a great indication of her approval, as she is picky over treats and food samples which have not been Orijen in the past. Her energy level and glossy coat with Orijen is a testament to the appeal and quality of the product and why although I tried to vary flavor is why I'm sticking with Orijen.

We noticed our furry friend - GIZMO - was not as excited to eat when we placed his food down. We then decided we should change his food and started our research. I definitely wanted to buy from a Canadian brand. I found Orijen and the reviews were over the top. I found Wooftown sold the product online which made it even easier to purchase. It was a great online experience with the food arriving within one day ordering it. We are slowly introducing the food to Gizmo and from the photo Iâd sayâŠ.yup he likes it! He picks out some of the old food and dumps it on the floor to make way for the Orijen kibbleâŠlol! Heâs now excited to eat again and we are happy pet owners again. Thank you Orijen and thank you Wooftown. We will definitely be buying another bag from Wooftown.
If youâre stumped about what to feed your dog, then you may want to give this a try. Iâve switched my dogâs food several times for various reasons, but have always come back to this one. I have a large breed dog whoâs prone to dry skin and joint issues. For cost reasons, I began experimenting with cheaper brands. The ingredients werenât as good as Origen, but they were satisfactory IMO. Well, first, his coat changed. It wasnât as shiny and smooth. Then, he developed dandruff. Dry little flakes all over his beautiful black coat. The final straw was the limp. He began limping. A quick trip the vet let me know he had a sprain. Heâs a large dog who likes to play rough. I knew this and yet gambled with his nutrition in order to save a few bucks, and he was the one ... MoreIf youâre stumped about what to feed your dog, then you may want to give this a try. Heâs a large dog who likes to play rough. I knew this and yet gambled with his nutrition in order to save a few bucks, and he was the one suffering because of it. I left the vet feeling horrible, and immediately went to Petco and picked up Orijen. I ordered a leg brace for the sprain, a great Omega-3 supplement, and some bone broth. Needless to say, about a month in, and his coat is back to looking shiny, glossy, and beautiful. After a good grooming, the âdandruffâ has not returned. And his mobility during therapy for his leg has improved 10 fold. This brand is worth every cent. If I need to make a substitution, it will be with the sister brand (Adana) only. Watching him jump, play, and glistening in the sun is worth it. Your best friend deserves the best you can buy, and Orijen is the best.
I'm so happy I've found this. It's a lot of money compared to other brands, but it's because it's not filled with dodgy by-products (beaks, hooves, slaughterhouse scrapings) and pointless grains and their byproducts. Which also means you feed less, and can expect less vet bills in the future. Although your dog will probably live longer, and cost you more that way đ. If fed exclusively, it should last my Golden Retriever about 6 weeks, which comes to about $4.70 a day. I'm not sure what people expect when it comes to feeding a dog, but this seems entirely reasonable to me. A seriously budget-friendly option could be to not have a dog in the first place (my somewhat snide remark doesn't apply anyone who is caring for rescue or working dogs đ). I've tried to dig up dirt on Orijen, but I cannot find anything - no recalls, no dodgy labelling. All reviews out there are glowing. The only thing that could make it better is if it was Australian made (it's Canadian owned and made either in Alberta or Kentucky.) All in all, will be returning to this in the future. Ditch the Royal Canin, guys. It's crap.
Both of my Weimaraner were losing their hair around 3 months ago. On the male it was much more noticeable. This had already happened a year and a half ago and the vet recommended us to change their food. Once they recovered, we went back to their regular meal which was more affordable for us. Just 3 months ago the same thing started to happen, this time before taking them to the vet, I decided to look for the best, most nutritious, healthy food on the market and I found Origen. For us it was a bit expensive but I decided to try anything for the good health of my furry babies. Just a week later I started noticing the difference. Now two months later they have completely recovered their hair. We only hope that this brand never loses its quality of ingredients/production. We are now in love with Origen. Thank you for this awesome food!!! PS: Sometimes we add some boiled chicken or raw meat to the food ;).
I have a giant breed pyranese who are know to be picky and allergic dogs. After trying all the super premium foods no luck until now. A store owner suggested we try the Original. Full of poultry. To my amazement NO ALLERGIES and he loves it. How can this be? The only explanation we could come up with is how the food is processed. Orijen I understand makes their food differently than all the other kibble makers. It must be this. And or the ingredient quality. No more red spots, paw licking or constant scratching. No more teary eyes. What a relief and totally unexpected. Well done Orijen!
My Rottweiler had developed a serious skin irritation, causing her to scratch, bite herself and lick her paws. She was covered in scar tissue and lost a considerable amount of fur. She also refused to eat; causing her to become frightfully thin. We thought she might have been poisoned, but when, out of desperation, we began feeding her a gourmet canned food, she ate heartily. That's when we figured it was her diet. I knew that Orijen was the best dry dog food in the world, so I ordered a bag. My dog loved it! Her bald spots are beginning to fill back in and her fur looks luxurious. She has stopped licking her paws, scratching and biting herself incessantly, and she has started gaining weight. Thanks to Orijen, our little bear is doing much better.
We had a rough start which was totally my fault. I got my pup from rehome when she was 9 months old. She was on a chicken and rice food. I tried to switch her to puppy Orijen too quickly. It was terrible throwing up bloodâŠ. just terrible. I consulted my vet who recommended that she goes back on the chick and rice to let her gut heal which it did. Iâm so happy that after a slow transition sheâs 100% Orijen Original 1 1/2 year old healthy active dog. I think weâre both glad we stuck with it. I never worry whether sheâs getting the proper nutrition.
