I bought my first Osprey Quasar bag in 2014 and used it HARD for 6 years. It had so many pockets with internal zips, had buckles around the water bottle holders (super useful once the elastic wears out). And very hard wearing, eventually the zip failed but I'd had it so stuffed so many times that I felt that was only fair. Id id actually replace the zip but then the zip at the front pocket also failed. Having been so pleased with the previous bag I bought another one. It no longer had the buckles around the bottle holder but felt more or less the same and was still 28L. This one failed after just 2 years in the zip. Having looked at a lot of bags and deciding that I really like the diversity of pockets with the Osprey I figured maybe I just manhandled it and broke ... I bought a 3rd one and this one is smaller (26L) which I don't love and has lost the internal zipped pockets in the main compartment and at the bottom of the front section. It generally has less features and seems like assembly had been designed with reducing costs vs optimizing functionality. It also seems like it has a smaller opening and I struggle to load as much stuff into it. Anyway, I shan't be buying another and the whole thing has unfortunately put me off Osprey who I used to speak so highly of.

I have been an Osprey fan since I bought a daypack to take to college with me 8 years ago. I still have that pack, but it is certainly starting to look like an 8 year old, well loved backpack so I decided it was time for an upgrade. I knew I wanted another Osprey pack, and when I found the Nova on the outlet site in last season's color for 50% off I knew I had to grab it. This bag is so good I would have happily paid full price for it.I recently used it as my only luggage on a 4 day, 3 night trip. I was able to fit1. Clothes for 4 days plus pajamas2. Three books3. Water bottleall surprisingly easily, with room to spare (though admittedly not much) and it still fit underneath the seat in front of me on the airplane. The pockets in this bag make it an absolute dream for anyone who, like me, wants to carry their entire life with them at all times. Having so many nooks and crannies to tuck things away in makes it easy to fit everything you need, and the fact that this isn't just one bag with one big pocket makes it easy to find things without having to unpack the whole bag. The separate, padded laptop pocket in the very back of the bag was especially nice. Having it separated from the rest of my stuff meant that it was really easy to get out and then put back after going through security, no more trying to rearrange all your other stuff so there's enough space to shove the laptop back in after taking it out. The padding in the laptop compartment also feels really nice and sturdy, I felt plenty comfortable with only that as protection for my laptop throughout my travels.Far and away, though, above all the other things I love about this backpack, the thing that makes it truly worth every penny, full price or on sale, and the thing that makes Osprey stand out from the pack, is how COMFORTABLE this backpack is. I landed at my destination at 8 am, and didn't check in to my hotel until 8 pm. I carried my backpack, fully packed, all over the city, totaling more than 8 miles of walking. With the hip straps and chest strap I was able to adjust the back so the weight was almost completely off my shoulders and comfortable to carry, and the breathable back panel kept me from becoming a hot, sweaty mess. I've found that most dedicated day packs/everyday bags don't have the same level of comfort as stability for long term wear as technical packs, which is frustrating as someone who often uses backpacks as luggage as well as for commutes. Osprey gives the same level of attention to comfort and stability to their day packs as they do their bigger technical packs, which sets them apart from other similar manufacturers. The quality also just cannot be beat.If you're looking for a backpack that will work equally well for commuters, students, hikers, and travelers, this bag will not disappoint.

This pack is very sturdy and durable-feeling, as expected from Osprey, and works great for everyday usage as a student. However, it doesn't perform as well as I'd hoped for carrying large volumes. As I saw another review once put it, the Nova "fills IN rather than filling OUT" - that is, when you put something large in one of the compartments, it makes it more difficult to put other items in the other compartments, because the internal space gets taken up significantly. On a recent overnight beach vacation it did manage to hold a change of clothes, toiletry bag, 2 heavy books, headphones case, camera case, and some miscellaneous small items, but it was an uncomfortably tight squeeze, to a greater extent than I had expected for such a large pack. In day-to-day school use, on the other hand, several binders, folders, notebooks, a pencil case, and snacks/lunch all fit in without a problem. So, if you're looking for a sturdy backpack for relatively light loads, I would recommend the Nova, but if you need to carry several large/heavy items I'd recommend looking elsewhere. It's also worth noting I bought this on sale - I don't think it would be worth the full $120, but for $80 I'm decently satisfied.

This Nebula 34L bag has been through thick and thin. Used as a daily work bag and has enough room for laptop and is usually stuffed to the brim with books or docs. I've also used it on hiking, camping, and quick climbing trips in several countries. It is also a great bag to take on the airplane, fits nicely overhead or under the seats, has enough space to carry everything you need on a quick trip, and as a secondary bag for those longer trips. The pockets are great for accessories, and easily accessible. The zippers are tough, and are easy to move, without ever catching. Only one small issue was the chest strap broke off a couple times are some serious yanks of the bag, but Osprey replaced the lost one without any issues. I like the size for an all around bag. I ... I got this backpack for school because I needed something that had a bit extra space and good support. I choose Osprey Women's Nova Daypack because I wanted it to fit with a bit more contour to my body. I liked that the laptop area is padded and doesn't go all the way to to bottom. The storage is great. However, there are two very minor things I don't like:-When you stick a laptop in the laptop area it puffs out the laptop area. It's not a bad thing because I know my laptop is safe. But, the backpack puffs out the laptop area so much that you can't really use the compartment the laptop area goes into. You could probably fit a couple magazines in there.-The front pocket only has one zipper. The rest of the compartments (minus the sunglass area) have two zippers ... It's not a huge deal.
The Nebula has one bad flaw and one awful flaw. Amazingly these flaws interact with each other to create a fatal flaw. The bad flaw is that, unlike every other major compartment on any other day pack in the universe (including the other compartments on the nebula itself), the outer compartment has only one zipper pull. This means that you have to completely unzip it to open the compartment, and completely zip it to close it. You can't position both pulls at the top of the compartment and unzip it partially. This is one of the dumbest flaws imaginable insofar as it will be unspeakably easy to correct. It's a great backpack and other respects. But that's like saying you've a great car that has square wheels.
Backpack is definenitely worth the investiment. I got this backpack looking to replace an old junky one this has set the bar high. There are several different areas for organization and there are two diffetent areas to hold laptops/tablets. I'm able to put large textbooks and there's still plenty of space. It has a lot of optional straps that I probably wont use since I'm using it for school. It is a little bit on the long side but you get over that quick. And the outside mesh has been great for throwing things in there and not accessing the other compartments. The pockets are big enough to hold my 40oz hydroflask too.
I’ve used this for two semesters of post-grad now, in all weather conditions. The drink pockets suck, but I’ve gotten around that by using bottles that have carrying handles, so that I can strap them in. The laptop pouch performs well and protects my laptop. I have to carry a lot of stuff, including many books and lunch, and this is where it kind of falls even more. There’s a pouch on the top portion of the big pocket, so if you put anything in that (pens, etc) is cuts into the only space where you would be carrying books, lunch, notebooks. I feel like that’s a big design flaw. Additionally, I have had two classes that use those stupid loose leaf books that you have to put in your own binder - this pack is filled very quickly by a binder and doesn’t want to hold ... Additionally, I have had two classes that use those stupid loose leaf books that you have to put in your own binder - this pack is filled very quickly by a binder and doesn’t want to hold much else after that. It’s like a tiny bit narrow. It seems like too much space was given for the laptop area that should have been devoted to the book/larger area. Moving to the smallest outside zip area, which does only have one zipper as others have mentioned, it doesn’t really fill OUT but instead fills IN so if you put things in the bottom of it, it will push into the book area. It looks really big but just doesn’t pack very well for my needs. It is comfortable on my shoulders and has the expected quality of osprey, it just kinda falls in how it packs.
I rarely rate purchases. I could not, not rate this one. After using many backpacks over the years including looking at about five others recently I ordered the Osprey Nebula 32. This is a FANTASTIC pack. I am now walking to/from work, and need to carry files as well as 'stuff'. This daypack is set up with everything I could possibly want. The notebook section is separate and very well padded, also easily used to carry many files. There are many other pockets that are incredibly useful. I believe that Osprey provides the most comfortable and adaptable straps, and the Nebula 32 has met this expectation as well. The Nebula is a great choice if you're looking for a large day-to-day backpack that can take care of gear for commuting or hiking. My previous college backpack was around 28L and it was just annoyingly too small to handle all the gear I like to have onboard. My work environment changes daily, so I have a top-roller dry backpack/stuff sack for field work offshore. In the Nebula, I got a slightly more compartmentalized pack for daily use and weekend trips that was big enough to carry everything I'd need. One review on the Nebula said that it falls short because it doesn't quite know what it is, a reference to the lack of interior organization. That to me is its biggest strength. I have stuff sacks and smaller bags to organize my gear so I can easily transfer these ... That to me is its biggest strength. I have stuff sacks and smaller bags to organize my gear so I can easily transfer these items between packs without having to dig through a bunch of smaller compartments. The main (middle zipper) and front compartment hold all of these easily. The two small lined pockets (exterior and main compartment interior) are perfect for small items that stay with the bag (phone charger, small BT earbuds, compass, etc.) and quick access transient items like sunglasses. The front mesh stretch pocket is great for things like hats or buffs, and the side pocket can handle a decent sized water bottle around 3 inches diameter. Finally, the laptop compartment is massive! In addition to a standard size 17" laptop, you can get a hydration bladder (and yes there is a hose port on the top), notebooks, books, or another tablet. My only real Con is that the compression straps hinder the zippers, so to fully unzip the compartments, you have to go around the straps or detach them completely.Just FYI, a daily gear list - 17" laptop and charger; 2L hydration bladder; small BT speaker; electronics bag with large headphones, external HD, cables, etc.; packable rain jacket; small cooler bag; 4 stuff sacks of varying sizes that carry office supplies, first aid kit, hiking stuff, etc.; water bottle, hat, buff,
