Oxbow has the best hay for Guinea pigs! My little guy loves the Timothy hay and orchard grass! They give you so much product for the money they charge and it is very affordable! My Guina pig goes through 1 40oz thing of hay every 60 days or so. If you have Cavys I would recommend getting Oxbow hay for them!

I have a 9 year old chinchilla that does not like to eat his hay. He was never like this when he was younger, but I guess with age he has become more picky. I cannot get him to eat loose hay for anything. I went to several stores looking for hay that might appeal to him, even all the different varieties of hay offered by Oxbow, but I had no luck. I explained my problem with a local store owner and he recommended for me to try this. It turns out that he loves cubed hay over loose hay. Though he does not eat this as much as he should, at least he is eating some hay as a part of his diet. Hay is vital for the dental health of rodents and lagomorphs. I also find this product to be less dusty than loose hay and it tends to be cleaner, at least in my experience. The hay cubes are not meant to be a substitute for toys since the cubes are not hard enough to properly file down teeth.I would recommend this for someone struggling to get their chinchilla or other small gnawing pet to eat their hay.

I love this concept and my Bunny loves the hay, especially with the carrots mixed in. I have found traveling with these (my bunny is an ESA and she goes with me everywhere) are safer and cleaner. I can keep them in a ziplock bag in her travel gear safe from anything until I am ready to feed. I don't break then apart because my rabbit prefers to do it herself and will thump and grunt at me if I proceed to do it for her. She loves to dig at them and then lay and snack on the round puck. Best part, when it's time to go all I have to do is pop whats left over (If there is anything left over) into the ziplock bag and its off we go again. Highly recommend!

Great for those with allergies!
19 June 2021

Bought the stacks since my boyfriend seems to be allergic to the loose Timothy. Not a sneeze! My 3 month bun loves this stuff so much; he’s almost done his first stack and it’s only been about a week.

Happy bunnies!
23 December 2016

My bunnies like this best when I merely open up the round as shown in the video as opposed to taking the round completely apart (also shown in the video). There used to be a very tightly compressed timothy hay in stick form, maybe 6 or so years ago, that one of my previous bunnies (now at the Bridge) loved if I pried it apart into thinnish flakes.About a year ago, we received half a stick as a surprise gift and my (newer) bunny, a smaller bunny, just loved it and he crunched it happily until only a small nub was left -- I didn't have to break it into flakes at all for him. I searched online for the very tightly compressed sticks (they might have been called 'stacks' too but I really don't remember) but could not find them. He loved these just as well, in fact, both of my bunnies like the Harvest Stacks.

I guess I have a picky buns!
12 December 2016

I have gotten these for my rabbit once before and she loved them. This time around was a different story. I got the carrot flavor. She picked out all the carrot pieces and refused to eat the hay. I tried mixing the compact hay with her normal hay and she still refused to eat it. She managed to pick it out of the normal stuff! I ended up giving alot of this hay to my rats to play with. I will most likely not try this produce for her again.

If only the packaging were improved
25 October 2014

I agree with the review about the package. You almost need gloves to open the cellophane around the hay stacks. It's so tight and the stacks are sharp on fingertips. Then, once the package is opened, it's exposed to air and moisture so you have to use a bag or container. I just take one stack out at a time and keep it in the regular bag of Oxbow botanical hay that I also offer my rabbit. Other than the packaging, the rabbit seems to like it. I break up the stack and use parts of it rather than just throwing the whole thing in because half of it will fall through the grate.

Okay product....will use in emergency kit
23 May 2018

I bought this for 2 reasons I live in the south so tornados & hurricanes are common and I had a Pals reward coupon. I have one adult guinea pig and he wasn't overly impressed even with all of the carrot bits. He nibbles at it and has finished the few portions I've given him. I dislike like it because it makes a big mess as he eats it. Yes it's less dusty and compressed well but when you or your pet separate out portions it's dusty just like using typical loose hay but there aren't many long pieces (which is important). Add that and the price of this (compared to the 40 oz bag of Oxbow Hay Blends Western Timothy & Orchard) and I won't be using this very often. Yes and No
12 March 2015

My bunnies LOVE the Oxbow Harvest Stacks both in Carrot and in Chamomile. Lots of binkies ensue when I put one in their room. The problem is that they drag them all over the place and the Stacks crumble and leave small hay bits EVERYWHERE. Amazingly, they are much, much messier than hay itself. Also, I am not convinced that the the roughage is equivalent to hay itself. On the other hand, if you have very limited storage the Stacks are great. It is also worth saying that the small hay bits from the Stacks don't clog a vacuum in the same way that hay does.

This is a great product from a great company. It makes hay feeding sooo much easier! I've been buying these a few times a month for a few years now and my guinea pig's always approved of this hay.
