I was desperately searching for a replacement for my cheapo plastic ice cube trays that had become cracked due to overuse I guess.i went online and did a wee bit of sleuth work and found that the OXO tray came up over and over again as a winner. Due to a recent injury, I have weakness in both hands. These ice cubes are great. I bought one to test it out and went back to get another. It's a simple twist and then you push the ice cube right out. No more banging and breaking the trays. No more fighting to get them out. This has truly been a great item for me. With another tray I actually caused more damage to my hand in trying to get the ice out. I'm so glad I found these.

A friend had this ice tray design before OXO acquired them. I love the easy way the ice pops out. The shape of the each ice section makes the water freeze faster. The cover makes them easy to stack. They are not cheap. I expect them to last for the next 20 years. I bought three.

Finally Found An Ice Tray With No Ice Cube Odor
28 May 2019

I've had too many issues over the years with leaking ice makers and have been looking for trays that don't produce off-tasting cubes of ice -- the silicone trays are the worst and the old fashioned metal trays are not stackable. This OXO tray is perfect. I've been using 2 of them for over a month now and make 4-6 trays of ice a day. The lid slides off to prevent leakage. I've found that ensuring the underside of the lid is completely dry before putting it on the tray is crucial to not having so much frozen condensation form that pulling the lid off is difficult. That works 90% of the time, but when it doesn't I simply and quickly run some warm water over the top and it slides right off.

Finally no more freezer burn taste in ice cubes.
7 April 2017

I have not made ice in years because it always had that freezer burn taste. I decided to try these trays and they are fantastic! No more freezer burn taste no matter how long they are in the freezer. I just slide the lid back, twist the tray to loosen the cubes then push on one end of the cube and the other end slides up so you can grab it and can get one cube at a time if you want. These cubes also fit into my stainless steel drinking bottle as well as the other wider mouth bottles. I bought more so now I always have a cold beverage and ice for smoothies. They also stack easily.

Great trays for a dry climate
30 May 2017

I bought these ice cube trays with lids to help combat sublimation in my freezer. They've been doing that job very well; though they don't completely stop it they slow it considerably. The lids also make them stackable, and you can put stuff on top of them without worrying about touching your ice. I've been using them for about a year now and have found them adequate. The only problem that I have is that when I flex the tray to get the ice out, the "cube" itself often breaks near the bottom leaving a small piece of ice in the tray. It's hard to describe, but it probably accounts for ~5-15% of the total piece of ice. Not a big deal, but something I find annoying. I'll probably buy them again if they break.

Making ice cubes is fun again!
18 June 2016

One problem with getting old -- you get bored after you do the same dumb thing 3,000 times. My spirit rebels at inefficiency! With these neat trays, I can make my drinks, refill the trays with water, and stack them all at the sink. Then I carry the whole stack back to the freezer in one smooth motion. No more hazardous ice cubes on the floor. After a month or two I'll save enough time to pay for the slightly higher price. BOREDOM BE GONE!

Tasty Cubes
28 January 2011

This is a great product. I almost purchased a similar product from a fancy food storage company for five times the cost, $25. Whew, I am glad I did not.The ice cube tray is less flexible than most but the company took that in consideration when designing the ice cube molds. The ice cubes are shaped like a semi-circle. Therefore, the cubes, once loosened, can be easily rocked out of their temporary homes like a playground see-saw.The key to getting the lid off is to not overfill the cube molds. I fill mine ALMOST to the top. That way the cubes have room to expand while freezing and won't freeze beyond the limits of the molds. In between each mold are connector channels that help with the filling and release of the molds. Also, make sure any large drops of water ... MoreThis is a great product. Also, make sure any large drops of water near the cover tracks are knocked/dried off.The cover has a notch in the middle of each side track that will "snap" when you have the lid on correctly. I agree with the previous reviewer, it does take a little practice to get the lid on without spilling the water from the molds and into the tracks. But, the learning curve is small and well worth the tasty ice cubes I am now enjoying. No more ice cube disappearing acts in my freezer!I strongly recommend this product. Enjoy!

The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
23 February 2016

The Oxo Ice Cube Tray is hands-down the best I have ever used. I've tried everything from ice cube bags to fully enclosed all-in-one containers and traditional trays. It is such a simple concept to have the lid or cover able to slide on the tray to expose only the cubes you want to dispense. You don't end up with ice cubes melting all over your bench or wasting them in the sink trying to get just a couple. Thankyou Everten for stocking and selling this product. The best thing since sliced bread! __

only one drawback
23 June 2020

I like these ice cube trays. I like that they're covered. And the lids go on much easier than previous OXO ice trays. Plus, the cube insets are level, also not like previous OXOs. The only drawback is that they're quite wide, so if you have one of those little ice cubbies in your freezer, you can only get 2 of them in there, and they must be stacked. The cubby isn't wide enough for 2 of these trays side by side. And there's very little width left for any other, smaller, trays. I have something that works - barely - but you might want to check how much room you have in your freezer for ice cube trays before purchasing these.
