I love these OXO Good Grips 12" Tongs. I like that they are stainless steel because they are easy to clean and will never lose their shape like silicone sometime does. They are easy to lock and unlock and since they lock in the closed position they fit nicely in a drawer and if you want to hang them from a hook there is a little circle on the end to do so. The edges are all nice and smooth. They hold foods securely. I prefer the 12" tongs for when I need to turn foods while they are in the oven, they are long enough that you will not burn your hands. Yes, these have very good non-scratch grippers, they are long enough to reach over a big pan safely. BUT - the spread is very wide and difficult to control. I repeatedly caught my little finger in the space near the hinge as I tried to grip food (large sausages, nothing really tiny) and the rough edge inside makes it quite painful. I ended up wrapping a rubber band around the handles to limit how far they can open so my hand could grip around both handles from the beginning. Would be much better to have a catch of some kind integral to the tool.

These have a better or stronger grip when compared to the ones with nylon coating on the bottom especially when flipping over certain food items, meat specifically. I personally would prefer 12” over 9” for cooking ( to keep some distance from heat). I thought the 9” was not long enough and would probably use it more for serving.

These tongs work just like they’re supposed to. The open / close mechanism is easy to use and intuitive. The tongs are a great length for a variety of purposes. I’ve owned the non-stick version of these for years, have gifted them to others, and will always own a pair or two of various lengths. I thought these stainless ones would be good for the multiple sheet pan dinners I’ve been making recently, and they definitely do a great job as tongs. However, since I have the nonstick tongs to compare them to, these fall short based on the angle of their claw part. The stainless tongs have a longer and flatter claw portion and for some reason they aren’t as comfortable to use. I can’t explain it, but the angle just is different and not as good. These are nice quality 9 inch tongs. The stainless steel material is thick, strong and durable. They’re more heavyweight which add to the high quality of the tongs. The grip is nice and the grasp is ergonomically friendly. The locking mechanism holds and releases smoothly. Overall I am highly pleased with the quality of the tongs and am highly satisfied with my expectations of the OXO brand. I got the tongs in 3 various sizes and am not disappointed. My 12 inch tongs and 16 inch grilling tongs are also just as great. Don’t hesitate if you’re looking for high quality, long lasting tongs.

I love the OXO GG 12" TONGS they are perfect for Barbecuing. I BBQ almost daily for dinners especially in the Summertime in Nevada where the weather gets too hot to use the oven. I have not found a good pair of tongs at all this summer to use on the BBQ. They are either too short or slip out of your hand, or the edges are too sharp. The OXO GG 12" TONGS are long enough to use over a hot grill and prevent burning your arms and they have a no-slip grip, they are wide enough that I can pour the sauce over them if I forget the basting brush. I have often found myself with hair-less knuckles by the end of summer due to my short tongs making my reach across extreme heat and flames to retrieve and slip my food. These tongs have solved that simple but annoying problem. These are SO great for using to reach the back side of my pellet grill to flip chicken. The length is absolutely perfect. They also work great for cooking on my outdoor griddle to again, keep my hand further from the extreme heat. The metal material is great and shows very little wear even after my rough use cooking outside. They clean up so easy! Just rinse and toss in the dishwasher. I have used them on my non-stick cookware and with just a little extra caution haven't had any problems.There are silicone inserts that are heat-resistant making your grip steady and firm even with wet hands. The clean-up is easy and since you can remove the silicone grips you don't have to worry about grease or food particles building up inside the handle. The tongs can also be placed in the dishwasher or hand-washed depending on your preference.
These 12" tongs are simply amazing. I own several pairs of the 9" tongs which are great for use in the kitchen, but a little too short for use on the grill.The extra length is perfect for grilling and not burning your hand.The locking mechanism is the best out there, it's simple and you know if it's locked or not.The spring is the right tension, it doesn't take too much pressure to use the tongs, so handling delicate foods is easy. Clamping pressure is even and the rubber/plastic grips on the sides are comfortable.These paired with the 9" tongs are an awesome combination!
