OXO Good Grips Prep Citrus Peeler

This is a poor example of what could a useful OXO product. It does one thing well (peeling skin from citrus fruits) but it's terrible at zesting. This is why you should not buy it: 1) peeling skins from citrus fruits is more easily handled by the typical OXO peeler (see photo of green product); 2) Citrus skin zesting is far more easily done and results in a better zest using the OXO Zester (see photo with black-handled product on the right). OXO had useful products already. Why did they decide to create an inferior one?

I can’t believe how great this product actually is. I’m a basic person who always uses a plain old knife to peel my fruit and vegetables; however the other night I used this peeler to peel my cucumber and I couldn’t believe how easy it was. So just for the heck of it I try it on a potato and it worked great. I’ve tried other peelers before and they never really worked for me so I always stuck with my knife but I have to say this one is awesome. I can’t wait to try it on fruit. I did try in on pumpkin and it sliced right through the skin (it was boiled). I will be recommending this product to my friends!!

I recently decided to get a little fancy as I was preparing a few dinners last week by utilizing some of my lemons, limes carrots and cucumbers as a garnish. I grabbed my OXO Good Grips Citrus Prep Peeler & Zester, and was pleasantly surprised at how easily and effortlessly, it was to have my dinners look like a professional had just added the finishing touch to them! The blade is extremely sharp, which made peeling the cucumbers and carrots a snap as well as quickly peeling the rinds of the lemons and lime, However, although this product says it’s “ergonomic” and has a “comfortable handle” I found, that unless you have a more petite hand, it’s a little uncomfortable and awkward for someone with a larger hand. Which, by the way looked very pretty with the nice long garnish strips of the lemon rind and it tasted delicious as well!
