OXO Good Grips Tongs with Silicone Heads 30cm

Flipping meats on the grill, frying meats in the kitchen, taking marinated foods out of the marinade bag…. These tongs are very versatile and useful. Highly recommend to all that like to cook :)

We had these on our wedding registry and have been using them now for about 9 months. In the photos oxo is on the left and an old pair that I'm not sure of the brand are on the right. These tongs have far exceeded my expectations, when cooking oxo is the one I prefer to grab. Both brands have grips for your hands however I believe oxo is much better attached running through the metal where the other brand appears just glued on and is now beginning to lift. The little lever to lock the tongs and allow them to open is a huge improvement. The other brand has just a simple metal piece with a slight bend for grip, not very comfortable and has the potential to be sharp. Lastly the tips of the tongs have a nice coating of plastic unlike the other brand so the fear of cutting up your food and/or scratching up your pots, pans and dishes is gone. There has been no signs of melting or wear on the plastic tips of the oxo tongs yet either. They have held up exceptionally well and still look new! Never thought I'd have a favorite pair of tongs but these are definitely it lol

Great set of tongs for cooking with non-stick cookware. I had just bought a nice new cookware set and wanted to make sure I had some tongs with nylon heads so the new pans wouldn’t get scratched up. These have done the job perfectly. They have good grip, are plenty long enough, and I like the locking feature.

So I do have these and personally I don’t particular care if they are oxo but I think everyone needs several pairs of silicone or nylon tongs when they are cooking. These ones do have a nylon head which most others I have tried are silicone so I am more careful with these because I feel it might be a bit rougher on my pans. But that being said they do last longer because of it. My silicone ones tend to get melted or have burn marks or lose chunks over time and these do not have those issues. Others also tend to lose some of the strength when they are in the locked position, causing them to come apart while being stored. The locked component on these is quite a bit stronger and more secure so this doesn’t really happen. A really good purchase.

I urgently needed a new pair of tongues to use with all my non stick pans. This one is really easy to use, long enough to handle properly, dishwasher friendly. So good, a few pounds well spent!

Disappointing design

Yes, these have very good non-scratch grippers, they are long enough to reach over a big pan safely. BUT - the spread is very wide and difficult to control. I repeatedly caught my little finger in the space near the hinge as I tried to grip food (large sausages, nothing really tiny) and the rough edge inside makes it quite painful. I ended up wrapping a rubber band around the handles to limit how far they can open so my hand could grip around both handles from the beginning. Would be much better to have a catch of some kind integral to the tool.

Fantastic Tongs

I've always been impressed with quality of the OXO brand and having previously bought the short version, I decided to purchase the longer variety too. These tongs do not disappoint. They have an excellent build quality and appear robust, just like their smaller brother. I like the revision of the silicon grips rather than plain metal. They work well with all food types.

Loving these tongs. They're the the Best

Have the large and the small sizes of the OXO Good Grips The silicone heads hold up to high heat. We use them while cooking on the grill and also cooking on the stove top. The silicone heads don't scratch non-stick cookware and clean off easily.

Not as good as original

I've had a pair of these tongs for years and use them every day. Needed an additional pair, but sure enough the design had changed and instead of the "fine tuned" plain metal they now had thick rubberised ends.These were not nearly as good as they were more clumsy and if the original pair were not in the dishwasher then I would always prefer to use them.The worst problem arose with these tongs when they were about 2 months old - I used them to lift a jelly bag when making red currant jelly. On first eating saw something in the jelly, which turned out to be black rubber. On close inspection of these tongs could see where the rubber had come from and another area was also coming away.I returned them for a refund, refusing another replacement pair. Tong Love!

Searched far and wide for a pair of silicone tongs I liked (I'm picky, it's a problem), but took a chance on these as I've previously been happy with the quality of an Oxo product. Glad I did - perfect length, easy to use, the silicone has held up to heat as promised and is strong enough to pick up items just like the Nylon ones I was wanting to replace. Am so happy with the purchase I will buy the smaller pair as well.
