Definitely not designed for two people. Lower end rods broke on second use, within a couple of months of purchase. Snowy's was kind enough to send replacement rod, as the manufacturer won't cover it! Then it broke again on the other side of the same lower end rods two uses later. Not buying OZtrail again when they won't even warrant their own product when it's essentially brand new.

Initially I was satisfied with this tent, but due to covid I have only been able to use it twice. When I went to use it last week the lower set of poles snapped and so I contacted Snowys to see if I could get a replacement set (I am 2 months out of warranty so unfortunately not). I was told:“At this price point, they are effectively a disposable product and are great for one-time use events like Schoolies, Festivals, and the likes.”I’m disappointed they didn’t put this information in the description as I wouldn’t have bought it if I had known!

I have a few tents. you don't play golf with one club. I bought the Nomad 2 because for the price it is good value. I love the two largish vestibules, it pitches easily and true, and for one person (not too tall, I'm 176cm) it is fine. As the saying goes "two friendly people" could use it and as such the approx2.5 kg could be shared on a hike. As with most of these tents, the pegs are pretty useless on the Australian summer dried earth. If your budget is the issue, this tent could be your solution to cheap, sorry, inexpensive camping.

I'm generally happy with the tent - it seems like a solid design, and I like the vent designs and bucket floor. I was unimpressed by the inside zippers - on my tent, one is very rough. The overall design of the tent also means you're likely to get too much tension put on the internal zips. I tried adjusting where the peg points were, but couldn't find a way to avoid this issue. If you want to save some weight, note that the tent comes with cheap steel pegs, so replacing those with aluminium ones will save a noticeable amount of weight.
I've taken this for a few hiking trips now without any issues. Setup and packup is fast and easy, and I'm happy with that. There's enough room to sit upright comfortably if you are going to be inside for a while. But I'm pretty short. For one person, it's a good size to keep your gear inside and have plenty of room left. Two people, you'd have to leave (at least most of) the gear in the two side vestibules, outside. Not sure if they might push against the outside flaps and leak water through onto your gear, but if it's sitting outside in the rain already then it might not be super dry regardless. Condensation hasn't been a problem yet. Keeps bugs out well. There are tents out there which are smaller and lighter, but the value of this is very good if you're not going ... A little extra weight probably means it's a bit tougher anyway which is always good. Like other Aussie gear generally is. This fills up the vertical height of my 80L pack, assuming there's a sleeping bag at the bottom. Has held up well with some very heavy wind. You can get a lot of ventilation with the fly cover on, so I imagine I'll always install that almost regardless. For a similar price and weight, I feel you can get some other tents that have a little more headroom and living space.
First night, rained lightly but consistently throughout, and had a constant drip. Was on a four day hike so just slapped a bit of tape on it as a quick fix. Second night both the tent poles splintered and were completely useless by the third. I'm sure I'm just unlucky, but either way very disappointed. Also when I'm directed the warrenty page, it says this item doesn't exist..? Tried emailing about a week ago but haven't heard back. Understand you guys are most likely flat out, cheers.
I have completed two marathon kayaking paddles through the NSW Outback raising awareness for PTSD and Mental Health. The Oztrail Nomad 2 has been my shelter on both of these events. I have covered over 1000km of river in a kayak carrying all my supplies. The Nomad 2 is light and compact providing room for my sleeping bag, clothing, food and, water. Each day we paddle 40km then find a spot on the side of the river to camp sometimes not seeing anybody for days. This tent has been up and down repeatedly on rough terrain with no major breaks or faults. The foot end poles did break but that was an easy on the spot fix with electrical tape and later cost $20 for a replacement kit. My teenage son also uses this tent for his scout camps so it has endured the mistreatment of a teenager. I am 189cm tall and 120kg I fit in this tent with all my gear very easily. My kayak is rated to 150kg so weight and compactness is critical. After a long day on the river, this is my Happy Place. My next paddle is in September and the Nomad 2 will be coming along again.
Excellent tent. Downpour happened 10 minutes after putting up forst time. Tent stayed bone dry inside. Poles were a little tight but that is to be expected straight out of bag. Won't fit 2 people witj gear. I am a solo hiker so fits myself and all my gear comfortably. Recomend for single person.
These are a great little tent! As a Scout Leader I recommend this little beauty to my Scouts. Weighing in at close to 2kg’s, they are perfect for Scouts. (Scout policy is that Scouts can only carry 20% of their body weight). This limits some Scouts in my Troop to around 6kg! 1.5kg backpack, 1kg sleeping bag, 2kg’s water, and 1kg for tent as they carry half a tent each! (Rough figures obviously-as you can see doesn’t leave much to play with!Sturdy enough to handle a bit of mistreatment from Youths, big enough for two people and gear inside, and the awnings are nice too..Not the easiest tent to pitch or strike, particularly if it was raining heavily the inside may get wet but there are ways around that.Great price too if you aren’t sure about spending three ... If these tents were quality, the design would be actually pretty good. The improvement that they could make in design is to extend the flys wide enough so that you can cook in the wet. I bought two of these and both had issues where they failed around day 3 of a 10 day motorcyle trip. The poles splintered and cracked. The bag tore and wasn't used. The tubing to put the poles in tore. It was really disappointing. We werent rough with these tents. The floor is sturdy enough, the roofing, elastics, zips and screening is sufficient. These tents are OK if you only want to own a tent for a maximum of 3 or so setups, but I think it is deceptive to sell a tent on that basis. You may get more out of it, but just know this is a very flimsy tent not designed for regular use. ... MoreIf these tents were quality, the design would be actually pretty good. Instead of returning both under warranty, snowys asked for photos of the tent slashed, which I provided and was refunded a credit. It took a lot of back and forth with snowys to get a credit (and not even a refund), which I was not impressed about. I would say do you research and don't think that because this tent is cheap, it represents value. It would work out more expensive per use than most others. Enjoy.
