Best office chair at this price point

I am very impressed with this chair! You are not going to be able to get a better chair at this price point as it is highly customisable. It takes a (quick) while to figure out how to adjust the seat height, angle and back height and angle but once that is done, the chair is so comfortable and makes you wonder why you subjected yourself to the uncomfortable chair(s) you had previously. Like everything, it pays to read the very clear instructions and understand the best set up for you. Highly recommend!

Decent chair - back keeps dropping

Decent chair, and easy to assemble. I've had it for a few months now. the back support is great, but I do have some issues with it. The seat drops ever so slightly of its own accord when you're sitting on it. So the pneumatic pump looses some of its pressure I guess. But the biggest annoyance is that the back drops when you lean against it, which is super annoying. I'm in half a mind to get rid of this chair because of this.

Initially confusing but

I just bought this chair from Wilson after the helpful guy took it to the counter for me. I am completely unco with furniture assembly. Having said that I have sat on office chairs in offices for 20+ years. I followed the generic picture instructions then sat on it- only to find the front of the seat was angled forward and the tiniest amount of lean on the mesh at the backrest, made it completely move. Ugh! I watched the video tutorial and the lady had screws and washers- ugh! I didn’t have any in my box after checking 3 times and the front of the box says ‘no tools assembly’- ugh! I called the store and got the same helpful guy on the phone. This one is the reverse- to lock the seat angle in place you leave the lever down- weird, but the guy figured that out for me because there was no instructions that said it was in reverse. The mesh back now holds perfectly as it did on the demo one in store. He was helpful enough to offer to organise to have the assembly people come and fix it but his instructions meant I didn’t need it. He mentioned that he will look into getting the older video mentioning screws and washers deleted seeing it’s no longer relevant to the current Pago Matrix chair. I hope the seat continues to be comfortable. The only thing I would change at this point after looking for a new office chair for weeks and in a grey colour specifically, is have it available in more colours the way they do their other office chairs. It only seems to come in black- however any shade of grey or white would’ve been nice as everything in my unit is various shades of grey, white and dusty pink and this chair is the only black thing in the whole place which really stands out lol.

Ok office chair for a year
5 November 2022

I purchased this chair 2 years ago. For the first year it was great. It is comforatble, easy to adjust, cleans well and for the price was a decent chair. However it is a cheaper office chair and it shows. After the first year of ownership the plastic shrouds around the backrest broke. Now the gas strut is broken. This is a big dissapointment as the strut will randomly and periodically completely deflate if you're sitting on it or not. Lastly the backrest support has worn (its plastic so no surprise) and now the backrest has 5cm of play (had 1cm new).Overall I would either spend more on a better quality office chair or buy a less expensive non-office chair.

Poor design in my opinion
23 February 2022

I bought this chair a few days ago and it was quite easy to assemble, less than 3 minutes. But when I started using it, my back started to have excruciating pain. I tried to adjust the chair this way, that way, I just can't seem to find the right comfort level. The back support is not stable and wobbles quite a lot. I am 154cm tall and the seat thinking that it would perfect as it has a big seat, but unfortunately I find myself having to adjust quite a lot. This is the most uncomfortable chair. The lumbar support which is what I was looking forward to, but it pushes you so far outside the seat. My husband bought this chair in store as I instructed him to buy it for me. I purchased the chair based on the reviews so I was willing to take a risk.

The most comfortable office chair I've ever had!
5 January 2020

I've had this chair a couple of weeks now and have nothing but praise for it. I had twisted my back the day before I bought it (bad pickaxe technique!) and this chair actually helps fix it! The lumbar support is fantastic - although it may take you some time to get the four adjustment options in perfect balance for you. But, the effort is well worth the time it may take. The back height adjustment, which caused some people problems, is an extremely simple mechanism - if you seat the back firmly in the seat as indicated in the setup diagrams. It should click on a ratchet as you raise it slightly, this makes it impossible to slip. If you take it too high, simply raise it gently as far as it will go, you will hear the ratchet clicking into place as you go. If you take it too high, simply raise it gently as far as it will go, you will hear the ratchet clicking into place as you go. Once you have it at maximum height it will then return to the bottom position and you can start again. The clever lumbar design means that getting the back height right is crucial. A very nice feature is that the back position is not cast in stone, but has some flexibility built-in which I find very restful. Finally, if you still don't like it after checking that you have assembled it properly, it has 15 years warranty. What more could you want?

Uncomfortable Back Rest
18 December 2020

I bought this maybe 6 months ago now as a home office chair for WFH. Simply, buy a better chair. The flappy back rest is uncomfortable, offers little support and after extended periods, at every possible angle, it never is supportive or stable. The plastic on the back digs into your sides and with too much pressure so does the connecting piece across the back. Extended periods sitting leads to back pain. I am 6'3 / 75kg so maybe my size just doesn't suit it.The seat padding is soft and thick is has a nice size. But without the back support you eventually sink to the hard bottom and it gets uncomfortable too.If you raise the chair to a certain height the whole base wobbles under you, not a lot but very noticeable. Very comfortable, but seat rises by itself
19 September 2022

It’s a very comfortable chair. The seat is well cushioned and the adjustable back rest means I can get it in the exact position I want. Unfortunately I had to return the first one I got because the seat kept rising by itself thinking I had gotten a faulty chair, only for the second one to do the exact same thing. I don’t know why it does it, but since both have done it I can only assume there is a flaw in the design of the chair.

best desk chair i've had!
6 July 2021

The best desk chair i've had - I now regret not having purchased this earlier. After working from home on a dining chair for over a year, my body aches and my sitting posture has become terrible. The Pago Matrix Mesh Deluxe Heavy Duty Ergonomic Chair has exceptionally comfortable padding on the seat, and the curve of the mesh back perfectly fits the curve of my lower back and gently supports healthier posture. I also love that the back rest is flexible so remains supportive if I lean back to stretch. The levers allow me to perfectly adjust the seat height and angle to my specific desk set up as well. I was initially frustrated with the backrest slipping down - to the point that I almost returned the chair, but I read the reviews here and realised there was a support ... MoreThe best desk chair i've had - I now regret not having purchased this earlier. I realised i was raising the back rest wrong - so I'm glad I saw the video and I no longer experience the backrest slipping. It's the perfect desk chair - would highly recommend!

for the price its probably the best chair i have seen. i didnt like the back that tilts and digs into my lumbar when the back is raised but i fixed that by wrappping string around back spine part. i wasnt the biggest fan of the wheel base and the seat so i swapped them over from my previous chair that has a great cushionyer seat and metal wheel base and better quality wheels that spin around better and because i was able to mod the seat i am now able to fit my previous chairs arm rest on it. so for 200 its great but if u want better cushionyer seat and wheel base use will have to mod them on or buy the pago metal wheel base but i cant say if it moves around smooth because i dont own that 1. there plastic base that comes with this chair moves very stiff which is why ... Morefor the price its probably the best chair i have seen. i didnt like the back that tilts and digs into my lumbar when the back is raised but i fixed that by wrappping string around back spine part. i wasnt the biggest fan of the wheel base and the seat so i swapped them over from my previous chair that has a great cushionyer seat and metal wheel base and better quality wheels that spin around better and because i was able to mod the seat i am now able to fit my previous chairs arm rest on it. so for 200 its great but if u want better cushionyer seat and wheel base use will have to mod them on or buy the pago metal wheel base but i cant say if it moves around smooth because i dont own that 1. there plastic base that comes with this chair moves very stiff which is why in swapped it out. but them complaints are just me being nit picky. the back mesh and adjustablity of the base like forwarding tilting is why i got this chair :) it pushs my bad hunched back up real good. my suggestions for improvement on future models would just be the wheel base smoothness and smoothness of the wheels on the ground and a more thicker cushiond seat and a tilt lock for the back and maybe add bottom padding to the plastic part down below where the lumbar is because it digs into the back abit with that hard plastic.
