Best office chair at this price point

I am very impressed with this chair! You are not going to be able to get a better chair at this price point as it is highly customisable. It takes a (quick) while to figure out how to adjust the seat height, angle and back height and angle but once that is done, the chair is so comfortable and makes you wonder why you subjected yourself to the uncomfortable chair(s) you had previously. Like everything, it pays to read the very clear instructions and understand the best set up for you. Highly recommend!

I honestly feel that I've been 'had' buying this chair. I feel like it's made like it is on purpose, so that people get sick of this uncomfortable chair, and then buy another one, and this means that the manufacturer and the retailer increase their sales. What's bad? The most important thing on the chair, more important than anything else. THE BACKREST. What a horrendous shape. At any given point, only a small portion of your back is touching the backrest because of the ridiculous 'C' shape curve they have given it (no human has a back shaped like this whilst sitting upright with a neutral spine). Presumably this has been done in the name of 'design' and pseudo ergonomics. I mean, why even have the top half? The backrest could be half the size, and it would be the ... MoreI honestly feel that I've been 'had' buying this chair. The backrest could be half the size, and it would be the same outcome for the person sitting on it. This chair is a great example of form over function. The result? Back pain, discomfort, can't sit on it for long, no matter how you sit, it doesn't quite feel like you can just relax your back, you feel like getting up and walking around multiple times in an hour. How this chair has a rating of 8 hours is beyond me. It is not possible to 'rest', 'relax' etc. in this chair, your back has to be constantly engaged like it's an exercise machine. Also, although this one is not relevant for me, because I'm a medium tall male, it is a big chair. In the advert (you YouTube) they show this little lady sitting on it, but in reality, even when the chair is at its lowest height, many people (men and women), wouldn't have their feet flat on the floor, with the knees at 90 degrees.I bought the handles for the chair as well, and I really feel like it's been a waste, and I feel I should have returned this chair within the first 48 hours of sitting on it, it's so bad. I regret not doing so.Is the chair well built? Yes.Is the quality good? Yes.But what's the point in all of that when it gives you lower backpain? When the design flawed. If Pago/Ryman are reading this, I would be happy to exchange this one, with the Pago Matrix II Plus Ergonomic Three Lever Operator Chair, at least the back looks more comfortable.

I just bought this chair from Wilson after the helpful guy took it to the counter for me. I am completely unco with furniture assembly. Having said that I have sat on office chairs in offices for 20+ years. I followed the generic picture instructions then sat on it- only to find the front of the seat was angled forward and the tiniest amount of lean on the mesh at the backrest, made it completely move. Ugh! I watched the video tutorial and the lady had screws and washers- ugh! I didn’t have any in my box after checking 3 times and the front of the box says ‘no tools assembly’- ugh! I called the store and got the same helpful guy on the phone. This one is the reverse- to lock the seat angle in place you leave the lever down- weird, but the guy figured that out for me because there was no instructions that said it was in reverse. The mesh back now holds perfectly as it did on the demo one in store. He was helpful enough to offer to organise to have the assembly people come and fix it but his instructions meant I didn’t need it. He mentioned that he will look into getting the older video mentioning screws and washers deleted seeing it’s no longer relevant to the current Pago Matrix chair. I hope the seat continues to be comfortable. The only thing I would change at this point after looking for a new office chair for weeks and in a grey colour specifically, is have it available in more colours the way they do their other office chairs. It only seems to come in black- however any shade of grey or white would’ve been nice as everything in my unit is various shades of grey, white and dusty pink and this chair is the only black thing in the whole place which really stands out lol.

Lovely chair!!
26 July 2021

I've had this chair for a few weeks now; I bought it to replace a very elderly office chair which was no longer suitable. I have arthritis, and struggle with sitting for periods of time due to knee and hip pain (also sciatica!). This chair is fab - lovely big seat for my big bum and quite thick too - lots of padding!! The mesh back is cool, and the ability to alter the height is fab because I'm quite tall. It feels good and strong - I move around the room on it quite a bit and so far there are no creaks or squeaks or wobbles. I also think it's pretty good value; my work bought me a new chair just before lockdown which was way more than this one!!!

Ok office chair for a year
5 November 2022

I purchased this chair 2 years ago. For the first year it was great. It is comforatble, easy to adjust, cleans well and for the price was a decent chair. However it is a cheaper office chair and it shows. After the first year of ownership the plastic shrouds around the backrest broke. Now the gas strut is broken. This is a big dissapointment as the strut will randomly and periodically completely deflate if you're sitting on it or not. Lastly the backrest support has worn (its plastic so no surprise) and now the backrest has 5cm of play (had 1cm new).Overall I would either spend more on a better quality office chair or buy a less expensive non-office chair.

On the fence about this chair
23 July 2021

I've only had this chair for approximately 9 months now, I even got the adjustable arm rests because I've just adjusted to arm rests in the past with previous chairs. For the duration I have had the chair and usage -- is somewhat poor, it keeps going down whenever I sit on it, I'm a 5'7" and roughly 58kg 19 year old female (ordinary average size), yet this chair sinks down every time I sit on it. I hardly have even used the chair long enough for it to be sinking every initial time I sit on it (sometimes it does go down and at other times it does not). For the price you pay for this chair, you would expect it to be a bit more stable and durable. I never write negative reviews but I have OCD and ASD so when I adjust the chair and do not remember at what height I had ... MoreI've only had this chair for approximately 9 months now, I even got the adjustable arm rests because I've just adjusted to arm rests in the past with previous chairs. I never write negative reviews but I have OCD and ASD so when I adjust the chair and do not remember at what height I had it it bugs me every time i read just and adds another thing to my list that I have to check up on, and sensory wise I dont like the feeling of when it goes down it kind of puts me off my desk endeavours (studying, gaming, etc) but I have to accept that this happens. Overall i'd say its an okay chair, its definitely comfortable because of the thick cushion however it would be much better if it were durable and more stable functional wise -- specifically the height gas adjustment aspect. I'll give this chair another chance today but once it sinks again I am going to ring up officeworks and see if the warranty covers this issue. I've had other cheaper office chairs that never had this height sinking issue, its just this one, this may be a minor issue for other consumers but for me i like when a product does what it claims and is meant to do, especially if it is relatively new, if it were a bit older and had more usage then i'd be fine with this sinking gas issue.

Pago Enduro Mesh Heavy Duty Ergonomic Chair
4 September 2022

We bought this chair for my daughter about a month ago and it's a great chair. It's very sturdy and has all the adjustability that makes it really comfortable. It was also a great price. The only downside is that we wanted to purchase the arms. The was a link when Googling the set of arms that took you back to the Ryman website and it simply said out of stock. I emailed Rymans to ask when they would be back in stock and they said they are discontinued. I emailed Pago, an Australian based company, to ask if we could purchase them in the UK and they said no, Rymans were the only stockist and they had not placed an order to restock. So we can't get the arms. Very, very frustrating!

Poor design in my opinion
23 February 2022

I bought this chair a few days ago and it was quite easy to assemble, less than 3 minutes. But when I started using it, my back started to have excruciating pain. I tried to adjust the chair this way, that way, I just can't seem to find the right comfort level. The back support is not stable and wobbles quite a lot. I am 154cm tall and the seat thinking that it would perfect as it has a big seat, but unfortunately I find myself having to adjust quite a lot. This is the most uncomfortable chair. The lumbar support which is what I was looking forward to, but it pushes you so far outside the seat. My husband bought this chair in store as I instructed him to buy it for me. I purchased the chair based on the reviews so I was willing to take a risk.

The most comfortable office chair I've ever had!
5 January 2020

I've had this chair a couple of weeks now and have nothing but praise for it. I had twisted my back the day before I bought it (bad pickaxe technique!) and this chair actually helps fix it! The lumbar support is fantastic - although it may take you some time to get the four adjustment options in perfect balance for you. But, the effort is well worth the time it may take. The back height adjustment, which caused some people problems, is an extremely simple mechanism - if you seat the back firmly in the seat as indicated in the setup diagrams. It should click on a ratchet as you raise it slightly, this makes it impossible to slip. If you take it too high, simply raise it gently as far as it will go, you will hear the ratchet clicking into place as you go. Once you have it at maximum height it will then return to the bottom position and you can start again. The clever lumbar design means that getting the back height right is crucial. A very nice feature is that the back position is not cast in stone, but has some flexibility built-in which I find very restful. Finally, if you still don't like it after checking that you have assembled it properly, it has 15 years warranty. What more could you want?

best desk chair i've had!
6 July 2021

The best desk chair i've had - I now regret not having purchased this earlier. After working from home on a dining chair for over a year, my body aches and my sitting posture has become terrible. The Pago Matrix Mesh Deluxe Heavy Duty Ergonomic Chair has exceptionally comfortable padding on the seat, and the curve of the mesh back perfectly fits the curve of my lower back and gently supports healthier posture. I also love that the back rest is flexible so remains supportive if I lean back to stretch. The levers allow me to perfectly adjust the seat height and angle to my specific desk set up as well. I was initially frustrated with the backrest slipping down - to the point that I almost returned the chair, but I read the reviews here and realised there was a support ... MoreThe best desk chair i've had - I now regret not having purchased this earlier.
