It takes a bit of learning all the functions, but the versatility and capability of this camera is incredible. I started using my phone in 2015 for travel photography, then a few years ago i bought a simple point and shoot....and now, i am interested in learning photography. And this camera is just perfect to start understanding photography and the capabilities of it are quite impressive. I am very happy with the purchase and i am excited to keep learning photography. And one of the best parts, i can exchange lenses. The kit one is good, but you as you learn, you can get a better quality lens. Once you know the style of photography you want to specialize in, you can go crazy. It is awesome.

I bought this very model about a year ago and it is my current favourite out of the five cameras I own. I wanted an interchangeable lens camera with a view finder since it is hard to use the screen-only models in bright sunlight. This was the perfect answer. Also I went to Panasonic since their lenses are manual zooms, and not motorised. The 4/3rds sensor is easily adequate for almost any situation (I have had everything in the past right up to Hasselblads), there has never been a situation where I needed a bigger sensor since owning this camera. All up it is very compact and very versatile.

I was looking for a lightweight camera for travel and street photography but it needed to be an interchangeable lens camera with a viewfinder. I did a lot of research and this model came out on top. The kit came with a zoom and prime lens, shoulder bag and two batteries. I have since added a telephoto. Took about a week to get used to as I also use a DSLR from another manufacturer. However, once mastered it has more features than my DSLR and it very easy to operate from the touch screen. MF on one of the lens needs to use the cursor keys but in practice this works fine and photos are pin sharp. I am very pleased with this product. The full manual (download) is very informative and really explains the product. I am not sure it will replace my DSLR for 'heavy lifting' ... MoreI was looking for a lightweight camera for travel and street photography but it needed to be an interchangeable lens camera with a viewfinder. I think this camera has gotten a very unfair rap on with the camera review youtube community. Part of this may be due to Panasonic themselves positioning the camera incorrectly in the market. Part of it also is bias towards the "micro-four thirds is dead" sentiment. But after using the camera for about 9 months, here are my thoughts.Pros- super small and compact, esp for an interchangeable lens camera- really great out of the box images with automatic and scene modes- kit lens is sharp and optically stabilized- lots of fun modes to play around with, like slo mo, focus stacking, etc- focus tracking for video is much better than previous Lumix cameras- still photo focusing is very reliable and fast- in camera charging- built in flash- decent 360 mics- ... MoreI think this camera has gotten a very unfair rap on with the camera review youtube community. If you're just starting out, I think it's also a great choice as it's very easy to get good results without having to resort to edit RAW files or color grading video. The M43 lens selection is pretty amazing, esp if you hunt for used gear. I would say as a walk and talk vlogging camera, it works best at 1080p, with medium hybrid stabilization enabled. I wouldn't really use this for handheld 4K vlogging unless you were able to get the 9mm Leica lens (which is fantastic).
I have had the camera for about a week and it really has given me some amazing looking photos and video. It is my first mirrorless camera and it has been a learning curve because it has a lot more features than my older dslr. I really like the 4K video The kit lens is a good starter lens and it is a very good lens. So far I am really pleased with my purchase because of the quality of the camera and the pictures/video results I have been getting with it and I have not used it to its full potential yet. I also like the size and light weight of the camera. It is small enough it will fit in my jacket pocket which is a big plus.
Don't waste your money or you can budget in the hidden costs and time when it eventually breaks for no reason.Bought this camera as a Xmas gift for my wife. Used 3-4 times in 6 months. It was handled with care. Then one day it randomly has the error "Please turn off camera and turn on again". I follow the direction and get the same error. Troubleshooting does not help. Camera becomes useless. No matter I have Panasonic's 1 year warranty...….I get in touch with Panasonic and they tell me to ship the camera to their repair center. I am expected to cover the shipping costs. This irked me, but I let it go.Then, not until the camera arrives at the repair center, do they tell me I will be charged a $50 inspection fee to repair the camera regardless of the warranty. ... MoreDon't waste your money or you can budget in the hidden costs and time when it eventually breaks for no reason.Bought this camera as a Xmas gift for my wife. Very unfair to wait until now to disclose this fee.The amount of time effort and un-forecasted money I've needed to sink into this camera has been exhausting. You could not pay me 5 times this camera's value to have to go through the experience of owning this camera again.
I'm a long time Micro Four Thirds camera user, and I've had many Panasonic M43 cameras over the years.I purchased the G100D to replace my much loved, but aging, GM5, as my small M43 body, to complement the G95 I have for the larger zooms. The G100D uses the same 20MP sensor as in the GX9 and G95, and its output is quite similar to that of the GX9. It also uses the same OLED EVF as the G95D, which is excellent. (This is a BIG improvement over the EVF in the original G100, and makes this a very worthy upgrade over that version). It does not have IBIS, but since most of my lenses do, that is a non-issue for me. (It works equally well with my Olympus/OM and Panasonic lenses, by the way). This is a camera that is not bristling with buttons, but has very flexible ... MoreI'm a long time Micro Four Thirds camera user, and I've had many Panasonic M43 cameras over the years.I purchased the G100D to replace my much loved, but aging, GM5, as my small M43 body, to complement the G95 I have for the larger zooms. The G100D uses the same 20MP sensor as in the GX9 and G95, and its output is quite similar to that of the GX9. Once you get it set up to your liking, it's simple, intuitive and easy to work with. And, of course, the output is what counts. On that score, this camera does just beautifully. It gets colors right, even on complex flower photography. It is M43, so it's not going to be happy shooting black cats in coal mines, but it has just excellent output in normal shooting situations.I think Panasonic missed a chunk of their audience when they marketed this as primarily a video product. It's a great, simple, small, camera that is really fun to use and excellent for photography, especially if you are looking for something that's quite portable to take with you easily.
I bought this to replace a camera I dropped (I guess dropping a camera once every 50 years is my quota). I chose this because it had a sensor similar in size to my Nikon DSLR. As others say it has a complicated menu that can be confusing. I don't think the manual is arranged to make it easy to find needed information. There are features that this has that aren't well described. I the short time I've had this I had to reset the menus once since something I did gave the wrong result. One review says that image stabilization isn't very good, especially for videos. If you do a lot of videos, you might want to choose a different camera. I don't make videos and I rely on shutter speed to keep my photos sharp. If you have used lumix cameras before, I would recommend this ... MoreI bought this to replace a camera I dropped (I guess dropping a camera once every 50 years is my quota). The body is a kind of hard plastic, which makes it very light. Normally I would complain that it's not metal, and I'm sure that will be a problem for me in the future, but the benefit outweigh the cost. The grip makes it easy to handle. It's the smallest camera I own, taking full advantage of the Micro Four Thirds promise of compactness. It's easy to store in a small bag.The EVF is bright and beautiful for the times that I need it. The touch display is clear, bright, and responsive. The dials are in good reachable places, but it took a little while to get use to the back dial that surrounds the menu button.Pictures come out in great detail. Thanks to the 20MP sensor and good kit lens with OIS. I immediately got a prime lens without OIS (stabilization) and the camera still does amazing without it, but I've been using film cameras my entire life and this is my first mirrorless camera. I know people put way too much faith in IBIS (which this camera does not have) and judge cameras based on spec sheets (which would make the Light L16 one of the best cameras ever... It's not), but if you try the camera for yourself you will find that it is really a well rounded, great performing camera.I will say that my only issue with it is the capped "mechanical" shutter speed at 1\500s. It's a hybrid shutter and it works very well, you'll rarely need more that 1/500s in most situation, but if you're in a car or on a train and you're taking pictures while moving, you will see a rolling shutter effect if you're in auto and your shutter speed is above 1/500, you will also see light bending and screens flickering on the full electronic shutter. If you take pictures with your phone, you should be used to this. I like to turn off auto and stick to the hybrid shutter, but I do wish there was a full mechanical shutter for those bright Florida summer days, but at this price I'm not really complaining.Speaking of the price... I got it on sale, but even at full price this is a great device, offering a lot more value in features and quality that really punches above it's weight. The only thing I worry about is how plastic degrades over time. I can see this cracking and falling apart in 6 to 10 years, and that's not something I look forward to. I did pay for the accident coverage for 4 years if it does become an issue than hopefully I can get it replaced before I'm ready to upgrade.
I love this camera. Like an idiot, I sold it back in 2022 after purchasing a sony. I bought the g100d version this time, which is an upgraded version of the original with minor updates like usbc charging. I find this to be compact, convenient, and for the price of lenses it is very fun to play with! I am just a mom chasing her kids around and find this to be the easiest one to take with me. I like to use the slow and quick feature alot more than i prob should. The photos are beautiful my fave lens to pair this with is the 25mm 1.8. But i usually use the kit lens for all of my daily shenanigans. I dont understand the hate from the camera community for this device but i am really no professional so i usually stick to auto or aperture. Speaking of noobs, this is very easy to use and the menu settings is very user friendly when comparing to a Sony. I vow to never sell this baby again. A flaw when comparing to my other camera, is the tracking. It isnt perfect at it, but i havent really messed with the setting in regards to to that. The audio could be better. But overall its great, its fun, cheap, and if it breaks ill prob buy another. The end. P.S. here are random photos ive taken on this camera, the dog was used with its built in flash.
