I needed a camera that can take shots quickly without fuss in "day out" mode, and in normal iA mode it is the best all round I have tried. I also need a camera for technical pictures, close up with good depth of field, often in poor light. This camera delivers on this front too, and so far the resolution is still greater than I need. The 4K mode and the post focus mode is great if you are set up to take a photo, but you have to wait for the recording on the card to catch up (the reason for using the fastest SD cards you can). I am not well practised enough to go in and out of these modes quickly, but the function buttons may help. Great zoom, made very usable with the image stabilisation. Artistic modes also require practice to select quickly to use on the fly, I have used some under controlled conditions, and found them to be comparable, and even better than what I can do in software. The viewfinder could do with being a bit bigger, even sticking out a few mm further would help. I usually use my left eye, but even with my right (I am working on using this eye all the time to accommodate the camera) an eye cap would help. The sensor to change from screen to viewfinder works too far away from the camera and the screen goes off when you don't always want it to. If you use a strap round your neck from each side of the camera, then the screen touches you chest and sometimes changes mode on you, as well as bleeping annoyingly. A sensor disabling the screen functions until you grip the camera would solve this. The start up is very quick and welcome, there are cameras that start quickly but are not able to immediately take a photo as this can. Build quality is good, but the lens is vulnerable, even at wide angle, watch it at full zoom! Also I am concerned about water and dirt ingress, it is the one thing I would like to see better protection for.

I already have a DSLR camera which is very bulky and has many lenses and I wanted a good easy to use carry anywhere camera catch thing spontaneously with some clever technology thrown in and the TZ80 fits the bill perfectly I have used it in bright hot days and snowstorms, filming school plays in bad light and most recently in a crowded German Christmas Market. The Pro • I love the 4K capture and the ability to select just the right photo • The Time-lapse feature is excellent and I have used it many times with great results, a bit of converting and then easy upload to Facebook. • The ability to Zoom right in means you can hang back and capture more of the action • Using iPad app means I can control the camera remotely and download the results to my iPad, a bit more ... MoreI already have a DSLR camera which is very bulky and has many lenses and I wanted a good easy to use carry anywhere camera catch thing spontaneously with some clever technology thrown in and the TZ80 fits the bill perfectly I have used it in bright hot days and snowstorms, filming school plays in bad light and most recently in a crowded German Christmas Market. The Cons • The PC application is irritating, if you want to see the 4K images on the PC or the burst mode picture. This is great if you use the application for all you photo management needs, however if you don't it's a real pain which involves some manual management of photos after the fact. One other thing, I store all my photos as YYYY-MM-DD, however it will only transfer to YYYYMMDD, you can re-arrange the date but no customise it. My Canon DSLR software allows to transfer all my pictures and movies in whatever format I want to any directory I want. • The RAW format (RW2) and Windows 10 don't like each other and I can't see to make it work, so I now run the Adobe free app to convert the RAW RW2 files to DWG files, and then use those.

Needed to update my 4/5 year old similar camera (from different manufacturer), was particularly keen to get viewfinder as composing/focussing shot on rear screen (only) is not precise (especially in bright sun light). The DMC-TZ80EB with viewfinder covers that. I like the 'spirit level' display feature, which further aids composition of shots. And like that you can actually see and or adjust the basic components of photography (shutter speed, f-stop, and ISO) or use automatic modes. I've only had the camera for 3 weeks, it was bought especially for a significant travel holiday, where I had good opportunity to use it. I've not yet explored all/most features in the time I've had it. I neither find the camera 'simple to operate', nor 'complicated to operate'. I find most technical products overloaded with features which would never/rarely be used, but try to 'cut through' that and build a decent understanding of the main aspects of the device.

I bought this Panasonic Lumix camera about six months ago because I thought it would be an improvement on my Canon SX260HS because of its Leica lens and because of a recommendation. It is not an improvement.Furthermore some of the menus are very difficult to follow. Many photos have been ruined because the camera was set on manual focus and I was not aware of that. I just presumed that I was not holding the camera still enough. In addition I inadvertently turned on PostFocus setting which gave an MP4 output and some really important group photos are now all in MP4 format and cannot be changed to jpeg.I sent an email to Panasonic asking for help. Completely ignored.John Lewis technical help managed to sort out some of the queries but I have lost too many photos.I ... MoreI bought this Panasonic Lumix camera about six months ago because I thought it would be an improvement on my Canon SX260HS because of its Leica lens and because of a recommendation. I gave that up when colour transparencies arrived.Advice -If you buy this camera be prepared to spend many hours reading and re reading the instructions. And then go and ask John lewis to help.
I had to replace the same model because I travel a great deal and the camera just took too many knocks and drops. I chose to replace it with the exact same model which illustrates how much I like this model. There are times when the light is too bright to see an image clearly on the view screen, but this camera has a viewfinder, which many newer models have discontinued, that can be used and adjusted for focus. The camera also has a grip on the right side of the camera that many other cameras don't have. It has all the other features someone could want: the ability to take panorama shots, video, and take pictures in different modes such as aperture priority, manual and so on.
So many features on this camera. Not the latest model but a vast improvement on my TZ35. I love having a viewfinder for sunny days when you can't see the monitor. I also absolutely love the lines on both the monitor and the viewfinder that show you if your picture is level and/or tilted. Even my DSLR addict husband is very impressed. I am a point and shoot type so can't comment on all the features but they are certainly numerous! Also a very good price compared with later models. On the whole I am very satisfied with my purchase.
The ZS60 is an awesome camera. It is suitable for the user who wants just point and shoot, and for a user like me who wants more control over exposure and focus conditions. While the camera itself is fantastic and produces excellent image quality in both still and movie modes, the instruction manual is one of the poorest I've ever encountered. It is virtually impossible to follow instructions on how to do something with this camera. Luckily, Panasonic customer support is very good. They pick up quickly and the support people are generally very good. I've called them endless times when the instructions in the manual were unintelligible, and they patiently led me through the procedures. I've called them endless times when the instructions in the manual were unintelligible, and they patiently led me through the procedures. One of the most impressive features of this camera is its ability to zoom and do macro photography. It provides optical zoom up to 600 mm and then a digital zoom increase up to about 720 mm. With 18 Pixels to play with you don't lose much quality! The macro setting lets you take stills or videos as close as 5 cm from your subject. Amazing!
I knew what to expect from the TZ80, having used, over-used and abused a TZ70 for a good few years - to explain, I cycle and walk a lot with this style of camera, and after a lot of back pocket hard treatment, the TZ70 began to lose some of its functions. The upgraded model now has a touchscreen for focussing, etc, and a 4K burst mode, and I will use both. As walker and cyclist, I tend towards point and shoot photography. Neither model has disappointed me, the camera unobtrusively does it best with what I demand of it, macro, zoom macro, scenery, the brightness and shadow of church interiors. I do not take portrait or family photographs, but I suppose it copes equally well with them.
Been using Panasonic LUMIX cameras for years. This is my 2nd ZS60 Ive purchased. A Wide variety of camera settings. Great for slideshows, Instagram, and Facebook. Dont drop camera. Dirt or sand gets stuck in the lens and renders the lens inoperable. That is the only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5. If you avoid dropping the camera it will last for years. My last ZS60 camera lasted 5 years before some sand got caught on the lens.

The movement controls were easy to use while checking the results through the camera's viewfinder. I have previous experience with a 4x5 Linhof film camera which made this lens' swing and tilt controls familiar. This lens is great for close up work with a 1:2 reproduction ratio. I have never had commercial work that required that amount of close-up but it's nice to know that the lens is capable of producing a 1 object as an 0.5 image on a 45.7mp sensor.
