A little tight around the shoulders/ back

I do have pretty broad shoulders for a girl, so this jacket would probably fit well on women with smaller shoulders. From wearing my dad's, I know it's a nice jacket- I'm only taking one star off for how the fit does not completely match with the size chart.Ultimately, I ended up getting the same jacket in a size small men's. It fits my manly shoulders a lot better and I can move around more comfortably in it. So, if you're more daintily built, or prefer a more tailored fit, definitely go with the women's version, but if you have a more muscular or bulky body type or want a looser fit, consider opting for men's sizes.

Love this item for hiking, and running in the elements. The waterproof zippers gives me that extra security for all my belongings knowing they will stay dry. The material and the lack of crunchy sound the material makes puts it far above most any rain jackets. Also have worn it snowboarding on the warmer days, good durable choice for the outdoor water elements. You cannot go wrong with this one!

Does its job, very well
29 March 2023

After dealing with one atmospheric river after another in California, it was time to invest in a proper rain jacket. This has stood up to the challenge, keeping me dry in the torrential rain we've had this year. I love that the hood has extra toggles to help keep it in place - I have other jackets without this, and it is annoying to keep pushing the hood out of my face so I can see. Such a small feature, but makes a world of difference.Runs a bit bigger than I thought - would size down if I were to do buy it again (but will keep this one, as I can add many layers under it if needed!). Great jacket!

Granite Crest Jacket -Women’s
23 May 2023

This is an exceptionally constructed jacket, perfect for wet conditions without sweltering inside the jacket. It actually is waterproof and breathes! The fit is very generous, I normally wear a medium but I can wear a sweater in this size small jacket without feeling constrained, and the sleeve length is still perfect. I love how you can cinch everything and stay warm and dry. Ideal for hiking trips or days spent outside in wet or damp weather conditions.

Lightweight and Waterproof
27 February 2023

The Granite Crest is very lightweight (perfect for warmer wet days and can be layered with thicker clothing for colder ones), flexible, and waterproof. I like the extras like the chest pocket and the pit zips and the hood adjustments so that I can make it bigger to fit a hat or helmet or smaller to fit my bare head so it does not not fall over my eyes. The jacket is true to size. I liked it so much, I bought one for every member of my family.

More than I what I expected...

This jacket was a gift from my Dad to me to use both during my long walks to college campus and use on our trips/work in National Parks/Monuments in the West. He loves his jacket of the same style and wanted to make sure I had a jacket that I would use for 10+ years with work and school.Love the use of unique materials and the thought behind this jacket. With the weather that Northern and Central California has experienced this winter, I have found this jacket to be bomb proof! You cant go wrong with either but love this one just a smidgin more right now.

Not a good fit for a pear-shaped figure
11 May 2023

Looks like this should be a good jacket quality-wise, but be careful of the sizing if you have a pear-shaped figure. My measurements are XXS for chest (31in) and almost S for hips (37.5in), so I gambled on an XS that was on sale. It fits pretty well on top with ample room for layering underneath, but indeed just barely fits in the hips. If I had sized up to match my hips, the top would be much too baggy. So, technically, this jacket seems to run to size, BUT that suggests Patagonia standard sizing is not a great fit for my body type. I will probably keep this jacket because it fits well enough to work, and because I like the features that most other brands dont offer (recycled content, repair and resale programs, fair trade manufacturing). However, the fit makes me wary of buying Patagonia jackets or tops in the future. I wish their sizing were just an inch or two more generous in the hips, to better accommodate those of us with curvier bottoms than busts (while still not being too roomy for smaller-hipped people). I would become a steady customer if I could be confident that garments would fit.

Very waterproof
7 May 2023

Have worn on a few hikes now. Very waterproof. Definitely need the pit zips when moving quickly in warmsih (60 degree) weather during rain, but they work well. Good hood. Comfy zipper placement and feel. Wish it had one interior chest pocket, but otherwise has been great. Not sure it would be very comfy in a rainstorm during an 80 degree day though, would probably be hot and sweaty.

Waterproof and Breathable
7 September 2022

My previous rain jacket was at the end of its life. I had it for 3 years and it got to the point where I was as wet wearing it as I would be if I didn't have it on. This jacket is a glorious replacement. Material is flexible, breathable, and most importantly waterproof. It has air vents under the armpits that I know I will use for running on rainy days. My last jacket had Velcro over a zipper, which did not help with securing the jacket, it caught on clothes. Patagonia jacket only uses a zipper which is a definite plus. Highly recommend if you're in the market for a well made versatile rain jacket.
