It comes in a bottle with a pump that gives you just the right amount to use. It absorbs quickly into my skin and doesn’t leave behind a sticky or oily residue. I have not experienced any retinol burn or any other irritations while using. After 4 weeks my skin texture was more smooth and saw an improvement in the evening of skin tone and pore size. This has given me a natural glow and my complexion is more vibrant. One of my biggest pros is that this keeps breakouts a bay and clears stresses skin quickly. I don’t have many fine lines/wrinkles but I have seen a difference on my forehead. I absolutely love this retinol and have been happy with the results thus far. Be cautious using and gradually work your way up with it. A little goes a long way. If you use to much you will see some peeling and possible purging. I would recommend for all skin types. PROS: ✅ Doesn’t irritate skin or cause breakouts ✅ Skin texture is smoother ✅ Complexion is more vibrant ✅ Skin tone is more even after consistent use ✅ Helps with hyperpigmentation ✅ Improvement in pore size ✅ Helps clear up stressed skin fast ✅ Skin is visibly more plump ✅ Love how the pump gives you the right amount CONS: ❌ None. I love it!

This stuff is very strong, but something I’ll probably be relying on to keep my finicky combination skin in line. Using this every other night (“sandwiched” between layers of moisturizer to protect my skin barrier), I noticed whiteheads, blackheads, and pores vanishing overnight, and acne scars I’ve had for years looking less prominent. After a week, my face started peeling burning badly, so I stopped use immediately and focused on soothing moisturizing with things like cica colloidal oatmeal. It took about a week of skincare first aid for the retinol burn to calm down completely before I was able to start using this again… much more slowly this time (1-2 nights per week, with a less-potent retinol on other nights). Just be really careful incorporating it into your regimen — even if your skin isn’t usually reactive or you’ve been using another retinol, it’s not worth the risk. Start once a week and work your way up slowly, remembering to skip exfoliants on retinol days, and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

I'm able to use this now about 3-4 times per week without any problems. I began with 2 times per week the first 3-4 weeks and ramped up to where I am now. I use a dense night cream to seal in everything and find no problem with my skin barrier. It also checks the box on being cruelty-free -- a non-negotiable for me when I purchase any product now. As someone who has used retinol for about a decade, I can attest to this one being an efficacious and reliable product to help with the aging process by making my skin smoother and brighter.

This is legitimately a Holy Grail product for me -- and I don't say that lightly. It's probably the ONLY product, ever, that has lived up to the cult-like hype, and then exceeded expectations, further.Initially I started with a sample of the 0.03% Retinol & 2% Bakuchiol as my first-ever retinol product, and instantly fell in love, not only with the formula, but with how my skin felt when I used it.So I bought the full-size a few times, and then eventually graduated to this serum without issue; even though it was only the second retinol product I'd ever used, and though I suffer from dry, sensitive skin.I find it extremely pleasant to use, almost identical to the Bakuchiol serum: everything from the thick lotion-like viscous texture, to the colour, to the way it ... MoreThis is legitimately a Holy Grail product for me -- and I don't say that lightly. It's probably the ONLY product, ever, that has lived up to the cult-like hype, and then exceeded expectations, further.Initially I started with a sample of the 0.03% Retinol & 2% Bakuchiol as my first-ever retinol product, and instantly fell in love, not only with the formula, but with how my skin felt when I used it.So I bought the full-size a few times, and then eventually graduated to this serum without issue; even though it was only the second retinol product I'd ever used, and though I suffer from dry, sensitive skin.I find it extremely pleasant to use, almost identical to the Bakuchiol serum: everything from the thick lotion-like viscous texture, to the colour, to the way it spreads and absorbs into the skin, and even the subtle-scent which I look forward to. (I'd say the formula appears similar to Khiels or The Inkey List's -- but is more velvety, luxurious, intensive, emollient, and sophisticated.)It NEVER pills, even when used in combination with other serums and moisturizers from PC and elsewhere, and my skin looks great when I use it regularly; firm, plump, and glowy. Especially the next morning. I even found it to have diminished, slightly, forehead lines -- though I don't have much to begin with or to use for reference. As a bonus, I NEVER experienced irritation or dryness, even when used daily. Quite the opposite, really. That said, it does have a high price-tag (especially for us Canadian folk) and as I JUST started using tretinoin, I have a difficult time justifying the price right now for something I wouldn't be able to use consistently, anyway. As my skin adjusts to the new retinoid, and I'm ready to add OTC retinol back into the mix, I know I will be back to buy more, and look forward to the day I can make it a staple in my skincare routine again.Truly, this is one of the most beautiful and pleasant skincare products I've ever had the privilege of using.

An accurate review of this product!

First of all I'd like to start off my saying I'm sad to see this product rated so low. It is a stronger retinol cream so unfortunately it's not for all skin types especially sensitive. I've seen multiple bad reviews of people using this product and then saying it doesn't work. It does work....just not for your skin type.Secondly I've read a few reviews about breakouts while using this product. Breakouts are normal and actually show the product is working its called skin purging. And third...retinol doesn't work instantaneously even though everyone wants results right now! I didn't realize this until later on and lots of research.I absolutely recommend this product 100% if it fits into your skin criteria!

Gave me eczema

Let me start out by saying that I've been using a .5% retinol cream on my face for a few years with no issues at all so I thought it was time to go up in retinol strength. After the 2nd-3rd application of this product in the first week, my face was extremely sensitive and I had visible red rashes on my face. I was unable to use any toner or face wash on my face with intense burning for days. I figured I needed to spread out the time in between application even further so I only used it once a week for a couple weeks and then moved to applications once about every 3 days. I wasn't too surprised by the reactions I had because I have heard of a "purging" period in the first month of use. After a while I realized I had developed eczema on my face which I have had on my hands before in the past so I had to start using my old eczema cream on my face multiple times a day. After a solid 2 months of use and still dealing with visible rashes on my face, I decided to stop the use of the retinol cream and after one week the eczema completely went away. This week i started using the retinol cream again after having not used it for approximately 10 days. After 2 applications with 2 days in between the eczema is back again and I'm dealing with these rashes on my face again. Unfortunately this is not the retinol cream for me.

And it's a game changer. I don't really pay attention to reviews for this product as I've been buying and using it for so long (8 yrs). That said, I happened to notice some 1 star ratings which surprised me so I read them and given my experience with the 1% retinol thought I might be able to help those who have used it and had a bad reaction. I was in the same boat; after a second use, my skin was super flaky, irritated and red. I tried it once more and my skin was on fire for days. I was disappointed as I knew the research behind retinol was solid and could help with signs of aging. I was disappointed as I knew the research behind retinol was solid and could help with signs of aging. I gave up on the product altogether thinking that my skin couldn't handle 1% retinol until I saw a video from one of the folks at PC whose skin initially had the same reaction and then he added the moisture renewal oil booster to his regimen. I was wary of adding that to my routine as it could be too oily for my combination skin. He was right and I was happy to be wrong. It was the key to my being able to use retinol. I slowly increased usage to 2-3x per week and then eventually to every night. I now mix the oil with PC's CBD milk (now discontinued but I have a stash) and have no reaction whatsoever. If you're concerned about a reaction, try adding the oil booster and start with 1x per week. I use 3-5 drops of the oil depending on how oily my skin is at the moment. Experiment and find the right amount for you. I hope this review is helpful and you'll be able to use the retinol product. For reference, I'm now 50 years old and have very few wrinkles. I believe the regular application of retinol and using sunscreen religiously are the main reasons why.

I instinctively wanted to respond to the statement that I had crow’s feet to begin with but realized that when your kind partner says something that blunt and honest that’s positive to just shut up and be happy. I told him I started to use retinol, (had no idea what it was or what it did), a couple of months back and he just told me that my entire face and complexion was younger, vibrant and the fine wrinkles I had had had been visibly reduced and smoothed.I use it 5 times a week, still no problem with irritation though I use Dior Capture Totale Cell Energy Cream morning and night which is a pretty rich and moisturizing cream. Overall, I’m looking forward to next month!

Works really well (which makes it a bit dangerous..)
5 October 2022

I started using a travel size of the 1% Retinol after first using the 0.3% Retinol for (exactly!!) 5 months. The first one was to get my skin more used to Retinol but I was always going to build up to a stronger version.Despite the instructions, I started using the 1% daily, on a slightly damp skin. Within two days the pores on my nose, which usually need a harder squeeze (please don't judge), were easy to clear. However, after four days I started getting a light burn mark on my cheekbone.I was smart enough to then go back to buffering the 1% (i.e. first using a normal moisturiser without actives, then the 1%) and leaving the cheeks without retinol. The T-zone didn't have any issues with the Retinol, it's more the skin on the cheeks that feels more sensitive. It had dramatically increased cell renewal, I can tell by the way it feels when I put on my Vitamin C booster in the morning.I'm looking forward to the time when I can use it daily! All in all, a great product, but go low and slow in the beginning! Definitely not one for the very sensitive skin. The 0.3% would be a better product for those I think.
