This is a very useful wrist strap and for me personally, it works a lot better than the hand strap I've used in the past. Unlike the hand strap, it doesn't impede my ability to access any of the control buttons or dials easily or cause me to have to hold the camera awkwardly. It just doesn't get in the way. All major pluses when I'm in the field shooting with it attached. The security of knowing that if the camera were dislodged from my hands by someone bumping into me (or me bumping into something or someone) I'm not going to damage any of my lenses or the camera body itself. When I'm in the studio, working with a tripod, I simply remove the strap and leave the anchor attached to my R5, which I must say, like the strap, it doesn't get in the way. I was excited about this product because of the the PD hype videos on YouTube, but this one falls flat. Some have said it might scratch your camera but I do not see how as it is plastic with a metallic paint, the problems lie elsewhere:The strap has no stop to prevent it from tightening until it is strangling your wrist, and if you put a stopper on it will no loner reach the incredibly weak and small area magnet to act as a bracelet. I have haled the size of the improvised stop pictured and it is still not enough. It is functional enough to use grudgingly but I feel super ripped off by this product, yet a return would cost me more. 2 Stars for not trash binned but not functional enough for the price and priomise.

I carry my camera with me as much as I can, as I do a lot of street photography. It's always either an OM System OM-1 or an Olympus E-M1. But while either is light enough to hold in my hand for hours on end, there's occasionally a shot that requires holding it out over a ledge of some sort; at those times I am very conscious of what might happen if I accidentally lost my grip on the camera. Popping this strap onto my camera when I'm walking around with it in my hand frees me from any worries about dropping it. It's also a bit of a deterrent for any thieves who might want to just grab and snatch my camera from out of my hand. Plus, the little red attachment buttons allow me to swap out the wrist strap and throw on my Peak Design camera strap whenever I want to carry ... I wanted a way of safely holding my Olympus camera without having to use the neck strap that came with it. I looked around and found this wrist strap and thought I would give it a try. I am happy I did. It is very well crafted and designed well. If you have more than one camera you would like to use the strap with, it does come with an extra piece that will allow you to quickly transfer the strap from one camera to another.I would recommend this wrist strap to anyone looking for an effective and well-designed way to secure their camera while carrying it.
My second cuff, so I can have them on two cameras. I rarely use a shoulder strap, but if you do, this saves time swapping. This is arguably the best design and construction for me. Minimalist and detail oriented. Very secure and reliable. I also learned after a couple of years, there is a specific way to pull the collar to release it from my wrist easier. That makes a big difference when using a cuff.
I'll start off by saying this is a nice camera strap. However, like most Peak Design products, it looks cool, but falls short on promise in terms of useful features. One of the reasons I purchased this was the ability to wear it as a wrist band when I'm not shooting. I thought that was an innovative feature that differentiated this strap from others I was looking at. It also helped justify the higher cost for a nylon strap.Well, sadly, it doesn't work. The strap tends to loosen while on the wrist and unfortunately Peak Design used a magnet that isn't strong enough to hold the band in place when that happens (even though I positioned it per the instructions). Even wearing it while walking around the house resulted in it coming loose, which is really annoying since ... MoreI'll start off by saying this is a nice camera strap. Even wearing it while walking around the house resulted in it coming loose, which is really annoying since now you have this dangly thing on your wrist.Granted, the strap folds up small and can be tucked in a pants pocket. But, so can a lot of other straps. If you're just looking for an attractive camera strap, you're not planning on using the wrist band feature, and willing to pay the premium that Peak Design demands for their products then I recommend this strap. Otherwise, I'd say some money and look elsewhere.
This is nicely made and feels very secure. The quick-release system is very clever, and I love being able to switch from a wrist strap to neckstrap quickly. Clearly a lot of thought went into this design. It is all very attractive and minimal. The major issue I ran into with this wrist strap is probably the major benefit to some users: if you load it, i.e. let go of the camera, it chokes up on your wrist, and won't let go unless you grab it with your other hand and pull it free. The retainer piece slides freely on the slick webbing to tighten, but must be pulled straight with your other hand in order to get it to loosen. This creates a ratchet effect where it keeps tightening, but never loosens. Now, if you have a super-light camera or never let your camera hang ... MoreThis is nicely made and feels very secure. The retainer piece slides freely on the slick webbing to tighten, but must be pulled straight with your other hand in order to get it to loosen. This creates a ratchet effect where it keeps tightening, but never loosens. Now, if you have a super-light camera or never let your camera hang from the wriststrap, or maybe just live in terror of dropping your camera, this might actually be a benefit. But in my experience, with even a relatively light mirrorless camera, it became uncomfortable quickly. With a heavy lens and you cannot let the camera hang at all, as it will turn into a tourniquet. Cuff is a pretty apt name. Now, you can lock it off and just let it ride wide open, which makes it more of a wrist strap, but in doing so you lose all adjustability, meaning you can never get it to that point I am after with a wrist strap, where it isn't going to come off your wrist without an intentional movement, but also isn't choking you out.Using this just duffing around I really, really liked it. I will certainly keep it around for this purpose. However, I tried it on a multi-hour shoot and found it miserable, to the point that I took it off and wrapped the neckstrap around my hand instead. I think this is ideally suited to casual use with light cameras. It would probably be awesome for a GoPro-type camera.
Got it for the A7IV but the camera is too heavy to be dangling on your wrist. For example, when you are opening your bag or putting your bag onto your shoulder, you have to let go of the camera. This causes a very unwieldy movement. Like hanging 3-4 lbs on your wrist back and forth. In use, the plastic clip rests against your palm, between your palm and your camera so it is not really comfortable when you grip the camera. You can flip it over your hand but that motion is not natural.Taking the strap off the camera is just as cumbersome as a traditional strap, maybe even more so. I don't see why this is a useful feature and believe having this as a bracelet is just a gimmick. Maybe a way to solve the problem of losing the strap in the first place, which is solving ... It is a lighter camera and I don't really use it. If you had an even smaller camera, I would rate this at 3 stars. I would definitely not recommend this for any Mirrorless like the A7 series or DLSR cameras.
There are different types of straps around the market which serves different types of purposes for the way your workflow or how you shoot. This wrist strap fits more of what I like to do which is more of hiking and taking pictures in the moment while having a piece of mind that I won't drop my expensive camera. The moment you let go of the camera with the camera strap on, automatically singes on your wrist and you will be happy to see your camera dangling on your wrist. The difference between this and the shoulder strap is the fact that I don't have to feel it on my back while I hike or feel it bumping me while walking. Would I highly recommend this product? That would depend on your workflow and what you are looking for. But for me, yes I would recommend this for people outdoors, hiking with a backpack or just walking around doing street photography and knowing the if someone tries to take it from your hands, you can yank it out of the stealers hands before they run away with your camera.
I bought this to secure my phone (really for its camera) to my wrist on backcountry trail runs, which I've done for well, a long time ; ) After many hundreds of miles of use, this wrist strap remains like new despite all the sweat and grime it receives. I soap it up every so often. The strap is a tough and durable weave and the mating part that loops around the phone case is seems indestructible and attaches in place very securely. The design overall is flawless. That is a magnet embedded into the strap that helps secure it around your wrist when not in use. My only suggestion: while my strap is black, I prefer a contrasting color to readily locate it on the go.While this may sound like hype, when I come across a product that really meets my needs, I like to ...
