Great, flexible Camera cube that can be used as is or in the 30-45l peak design back pack. You can reconfigure the cube to fit any body, lens, and accessory combinations. Zippers allow for side access in addition to top access. Within the packpack, you can prevent access and secure the cube, while maintaining access to backpack pockets to for example laptop, first-aid kit, or compact jacket.

So I bought this Peak Design camera cube (large) as primary storage for gear that's not in my daily carry bag, I actually don't use it as a travel case at all. It's a no-frills case, very high quality, excellent and efficient design. It holds one mirrorless body with a grip, 6 lenses of varying sizes / widths (no need to reverse lens hoods, except for the 70-300), flash, trigger, batteries, chargers, and other general accessories - with room to spare. Plenty of dividers, including some that are 2-tier capable. It also comes with a storage pouch for small items that you can velcro-fasten anywhere in the case. I bought this case thinking maybe I'll like it and it was an instant keeper.

This bag is a great addition to the PD travel backpack and really adds a lot of versatility to the setup. I can how carry both of my camera bodies and 4 lenses (including one telephoto). I currently have the small, med, and large camera cube so that I can pack the backpack according to the needs of the specific trip. In addition, these bags are sturdy enough that I also use them as equipment storage cases when not in the backpack. I usually have the small cube packed with all gear and lenses for my DSLR kit, and the medium cube packed with all gear and lenses for my Z6 kit. This way i can keep them fuly packed for the next outing and just throw them in the bag as needed depending on what type of shooting I'm doing for the day. I especially like the shelf you can make in certain cubes. This enables me to store multiple small items in one cube without it becoming a jumble of stuff. You'll be amazed at how much you can organize and pack into one of these cubes, even the small!

I have four of these bags and love them. I don't use them like they were designed to be used, but they work perfectly for me. I use two for my landscape gear and two for my wildlife gear. When I get to wherever I'm going to shoot, I just transfer the gear I will need to either a small shoulder bag or larger backpack and head out. This way I always have all the gear I need to choose from and don't get caught short because some piece of gear being left at home. The design of the bags are simple, but they are well built, well designed, have enough padding to protect gear, and the large size bags are light enough so that when fully loaded they are still easily handled. I certainly wouldn't own four of them if I wasn't well pleased.
I needed to transport an XBox Series X on a plane and this worked nicely. I also managed to fit a Canon R6 with a Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 lens attached and my beloved Sigma Art 85mm 1.4 lens. The nice thing about this insert is it fits perfectly in a basic Target overhead spinner suitcase. I would love an actual photo suitcase, but the suitcases themselves are expensive crappy suitcases. I can spend $400 for a ThinkTank that's an awful suitcase (no spinner wheels), but great for hauling gear...so long as you don't have to get it through a tight space down the airplane aisle...or spend about $180 to get a cheap suitcase and one of these. So it works well, but is garbage for photo use. The cheap inserts from Neweer work so much better. They just didn't have any that fit ... MoreI needed to transport an XBox Series X on a plane and this worked nicely. The cheap inserts from Neweer work so much better. They just didn't have any that fit an XBox.I know Peak Design has a cult-like following, but they're better at marketing than making things. Everything looks AMAZING in photos, then you actually get one in your hand and you notice the many mistakes:1. The insert doesn't open all the way. For some reason, it has a 1 lip all around, making it difficult to get things out.2. The inserts have exposed velcro on the bottom that scratch gear and skin. So if your gear has a corner, it will get scratched. The goal of this is for the gear to come out in the same shape as it came in, not for Peak Design to scratch up your gear because of their poorly thought out design.3. The padding is stiff and not very padded. This is kind of the worst of both worlds. You get bad protection and the case won't conform to your bag.In contrast, cheaper inserts have thick, nice soft padding. Neweer has a camera cube insert (sold as the Neewer Flexible Partition Camera Padded Bag Insert) just like the Peak Design medium one for a lot cheaper and it's perfection. The top opens all the way, the padding is thick and generous. It's not rigid, only semi-rigid, so it protects perfectly and maintains it's shape, but it can also conform to weird bag shapes a bit, like the telescoping handle at the bottom of your suitcase.Honestly, I'd give it 4 or 5 stars if it just opened all the way. It's SUCH a pain in the behind to get gear in and out of it because of that horrible top lip. The exposed velcro on the bottom of the inserts is HORRIBLE design, but I can work around it by wrapping my lenses in bags. The rigid structure works well for some. If I weren't trying to fit it in another bag, I may even appreciate it. However, the top lip making it hard to get things in and out makes me hate using it.So I was hoping to use it to hold secondary gear, like extra flashes and lighting when I am not traveling. I use my beloved Neweer cube for my lenses and main gear. However, I hate using it so much, I will probably only use it for travel, not for everyday storage.
I wanted a storage container for all of my gear which could also be used for transportation in a small backpack. I was worried this would be too large, but it's perfect. For those who are wondering, this fits very nicely in the main compartment of the men's Osprey Farpoint 40 carry-on. There are also several points on the edges of this container which can be used for attaching a shoulder strap. The gentleman shown in the ad photos with this bag and a shoulder strap must be quite short. It isn't nearly as huge as it looks on him. It's well padded and very light.
Construction is top notch, zippers are excellent and the dividers are really nice. The dividers are thin and rigid and stick firmly in place, thin enough that they don't take up a ton of the interior room. My one nit that was almost a deal breaker: there are no zipped mesh accessory pockets on the inside of the lid. I have to store accessories in a separate pouch that I have to remove from the case, which makes dropping and loss much more likely. Peak should put strips of the soft fuzzy velcro on the inside of the lid and then sell zippered accessory pouches that can be secured in place, or simply build pockets into the inside of the lid similar to what almost every other manufacturer is doing. The large cube holds a ton of gear and will go into a large day pack. I ... MoreConstruction is top notch, zippers are excellent and the dividers are really nice. The large cube holds a ton of gear and will go into a large day pack. I use mine in a Gregory Zulu 55, and it holds: 2 Sony A7RIII bodies, 16-35 2.8 GM, 200-600 G, 90mm macro G, Tamron 28-75, accessories in pouches (memory cards, batteries, cleaning supplies), rain cape, and there's still a bit of room left over. There's plenty pf room left over in the Gregory pack for food, clothing, first aid kit, nav gear, etc.
I have many camera backpacks but this is a well thought out and versatile "cube" that fits neatly inside the 45L travel backpack. There are many load out capabilities which PD demonstrates on the included literature. It also has attachment points so that it can be carried independently of the back pack. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't had that much time yet to fully evaluate it.
Purchased for travel and when I want to hike with multiple lenses and want a secure spot in my backpack. Tested it out snowshoeing in Colorado and a winter trip in Norway and it was perfect for my needs. Fits my Sony A7ii mirrorless camera body with two of my lenses (rotating between a Sony 70-300mm, 28-70mm, and 14mm wide angle), with plenty of room for accessories like extra batteries, remote shutter, manual, waterproof hood, cleaning kit. Snow got on the bag at one point but was easily brushed off. The interior separators are easily removed and rearranged, helping to accommodate different packing needs- such as whether I had the long lens on the body or not. This is a LARGE camera bag. It will fully fit the 45L backpack. The anchor clips to secure the cube to the backpack and securely hold it in place, are a bit of a challenge to initially install if you have small hands, but once in, safely secure the cube in the backpack. Getting the dividers properly arranged in the cube is fairly quick and easy if you first place all of your equipment where you want it and then insert the dividers. It is a relief to know that I can remove the cube and store it in the overhead or below my seat on smaller puddle jumper planes between international flights. Well made. Quality materials.
