NOT an expensive mic, but, it's hard to tell the difference! The quality is extremely good and it sounds that way, too. This no surprise when you look at all of Peavey's products. The business model is manufacturing and selling extremely well made gear which more people can afford. That's where the company started and has always stayed.

Great little mic, sound good, metal casing, seems well built. Will be great for jam sessions, sit ins, karaoke, may buy some more if I can sell some of my old ones! Sounds better that the Behringer xm1800 mic's in my opinion, even though nothing wrong with the Behringers, the peavey pvi100 just sounds fuller and a little hotter.

This is a high quality mic for the price. Strong signal even from 6-8" away. I use it for vocals, instruments, drums, whatever. I used it on stage in a noisy environment (dance venue) and I could not tell the difference between these and my SM58s, maybe in a concert setting you would be able to tell but it's really not a big difference. The clip is tiny and I wasn't sure if the mic would even fit into it, but once I got it in it seems to hold the mic securely with no issues.

These are awesome microphones . We used them for years in our Kareoke business. They will hold up from drunk singers dropping them and stepping on the cables and pulling up on them.
It's an excellent microphone, but you have to turn the treble and the mid-range all the way up for it to be crisp and clear. You have to eat you the bass knob down a bit as well... as a male singer, I can use the microphone, but it's geared more towards a woman's voice. It's an excellent Mike though, with very booming sound to it...
This Peavey microphone is outstanding! Clear, crisp vocals with no feedback problems. Well built, sturdy and love the on/off switch. I use Peavey amps for my guitars and will now be using these microphones. These rival any of my Shure microphones and at a fraction of the cost. I will be buying more for backup.
I think it's a great microphone for the money! Personally, For vocals, I like my microphone to sound crisp and clear. This particular microphone, at least on my system, Has quite a bit of bottom to it. On my mixer, I have to eq the Treble and the mid-range almost all the way up for it to sound crisp and clear. Once I do that, it sounds pretty damn good!! This microphone has a lot of power, and sounds very well-rounded! If you don't want to spend the money for a Shure sm58, I would definitely recommend this microphone!!👍👍
First off, I'm a professional in the audio/video industry. I use equipment like this every day. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't go around purchasing sub-$ microphones for most of my work. That said, however, this microphone surprises me. It has the look and feel of standard professional microphones and the sound quality is more than acceptable. I'm using two of these mics for podcast recording. It's just two of us sitting around a table, very low-tech. As long as we're close to the mics, they have pretty strong output and reject a lot of the room noise. If you back up too much, the volume drops drastically. It's not really that much of a problem for our setup though. Like any microphone, popping is a problem if you get too close, as well as proximity effect. ... There is a nice sweet spot, and you just have to experiment to find it.The mics I purchased are all black, no silver grill like is seen in most photos of the mic. Didn't matter to me very much because I like the all-black look (just wanted to mention it to avoid surprises). The mics have a pro feel to them because they are metal housed and are fairly heavy.I'd highly recommend the PVi 100 for small recording projects like podcasts, and for small public address systems. I haven't had an opportunity to test one in a large room with a big system yet, so I can't really comment there, but I suspect it would do well. I wouldn't use it for pro voice over projects and maybe not for micing several people at once. Overall, the PVi 100 is a good microphone and for what you'll pay, it's excellent! I'm very happy with mine.
I've had many different brands of microphone over the years. This Peavey mic is better than most. I would even say it is equal to or better than the Shure sm58 I have used for years. Awesome product ! Don't be afraid to give it a try , you will be happy with it.
I bought it for pa-applications, but the noise is too loud, when you hold it in your hands, and the cardoid-pattern is not very strong (feed-back!). It is clearly designed for stand-mount applications, as it says!I realised last week, that it is an excellent recording mic, and that's why I desided to write this review! I used it to pick up a solo-violin. As I wasn't sure, which mic should do the job best, I took also my Studio Projects B3 on a separate track for a choice after the recording. I clearly preferred the Peavey track! They both sound very natural, but the Peavey delivers a much more present sound, which is important for a solo instrument.
