Nonstop intriguing. My favorite ink so far—Pelikan Edelestein Tanzanite.Colors and shades of the night sky. Substantial and exquisite, deep, serious, and seriously fun.Purchased for use with a Brody Neuenschwander HANDWRITMIC pen (and a modified Pilot Parallel pen).My work is inspired by the work of Werner Schneider, and here are an incredibly expressive pen and ink that are made for the adventure.Too, the bottle is super cool and in no danger of being tipped over; the lid is very well designed and substantial—a joy to use and not easily misplaced on my desk.Shading—different papers (Crane’s Crest, Claire Fontaine, Arches MBM, Arches watercolour, Crown Mill) give very different results.Thank you, Pelikan!Thank you, JetPens!

Had never purchased Edelstein Ink before but this color was so pretty. I wanted the set with the pen but they were always sold out. I ordered the ink anyway and I am loving it. Grey inks are my favorite, the Moonstone is lighter than I expected but also it is a softer color and a little silvery. It reminds me of a full moon on a cloudy night. The ink flows nicely on the page and drys within a few seconds. Good product and not a bad price for a 50ml bottle.

Excellent ink, I've had great experience with every ink I've purchased in this series. Gorgeous shade somewhere between green a teal. Good experience with it on G. Lalo, Claire Fontaine, Rhodia, Midori and Leuchterm papers. No festering or bleed through, does show through a bit on thinner stock. Dry time was ~ 25 seconds on most sheets. Has worked well for me in Pelikan, Parker and Sailor pens thus far.

The color is pretty, readable, and the ink flows decently in my Benu Storm (Briolette). However, I much prefer Pilot Iroshizuku Ajisai, the ink I had in the Storm before the Sapphire. The Pelican Edelstein Sapphire is definitely drier, & more watered-down looking, I prefer my other blues to this one, and the flow of the others to that of this ink. Don't get me wrong. This is NOT a bad ink. I like pastels, but this is just too pastel for my taste just not as much fun or as beautiful as the others I use (Herbin Blue Myosotis & Bleu Nuit; Diamine Polar Glow & Blue Velvet; Pilot Iroshizuku Ajisai & Iroshizuku Tsuyu-Kusa). This might become a favorite for one who loves a pastel ink. Buying cartridges (or samples) is a good way to find out how you feel about an ink ... MoreThe color is pretty, readable, and the ink flows decently in my Benu Storm (Briolette). Like all Goulet orders I've placed, this was exceptionally well packed, arrived promptly, and with good communication on status along the way. The ink sample went into a TWBI ECO-T w/ an EF nib. No problems with flow or starting. Medium flow and quick dry time. The ink is a nice red with distinct orange undertones. I use this pen w/red ink for marginalia and copy editing marks. Great shade for this, distinct and visible but not too loud.
Looking for a smooth, well-behaved ink in a glorious green? A green holiday ink or maybe an ink to evoke the beauty of growing green? This might be the perfect one for you. I've used it in several pens now and with several different nibs and the performance is outstanding. The green is just like the mineral, a dark, mysterious green with a glow all its own. It's solidly in the middle of the green spectrum -- not a yellow green nor a bluey green but a deep, dark rich piney green. Lush, even. Because it is such a dark rich green, it works well in fine or very fine pens, because it will show up where as other greens might just recede into the background.Like all of the Edelstein inks, Pelikan packaged this in its beautifully distinctive heavy glass bottle - a perfect ... MoreLooking for a smooth, well-behaved ink in a glorious green? Right now Pen Boutique has it still and at a marvelous price.
Initially, I put it in an EF nib, and it was barely legible and had some flow issues. I experimented with a number of nib sizes, finally settling on Broad. There were no flow issues but, for me, it was still too light. I added one (1) ml of Pelikan 4001 Black which made the ink just a shade darker - omparable to a pencil lead grade B (1) or a Blackwing 602.
For some pens, this is an excellent ink. For the Conklin Duragraph Cracked Ice EF chrome "smiley" nib, the topaz is the best ink I have found. You need to write on good quality paper. The Edelstein inks have some, but not much surface tension. This makes them free flowing, but they are more transparent inks (not like the WG Goth black). These inks work fine for the Pelikan pens. And the quality is high enough to not harm good fountain pens. But for Western pens and solid colors, you will need an ink with more surface tension.
I remember days here in sunny California that the sky was this shade of blue. A brilliant clear deep blue with a tinge of violet, so I'm reminded of that lovely day each time I use this glorious ink. Goes on violet but dries blue. It's a lovely clear toned violet blue with zed muddiness to impair its clarity. The surprise was its shading qualities, a fabulous bonus. I was even more surprised that it had received none but 5 star reviews. Despite this, it seems it's never in stock when I'm in need. To be brutally honest, I'd say you probably shouldn't buy it... just read the negative reviews if you don't believe me. The list of complaints: it's got way too much violet, is not saturated enough, its completely lacking of water resistance and its price will likely leave ... MoreI remember days here in sunny California that the sky was this shade of blue. This dreadful fail of an ink, will ALWAYS be stock for me and the select few who appreciate its phenomenal clarity, shading attributes, free flowing quality and ease of cleaning from our fountain pens. Now that you've been warned off this abysmal ink, I truly thank you...for NOT buying.
I considered Edelstein Sapphire for some time, but was hesitant due to the mixed reviews. Finally, after being very impressed with the Edelstein Tanzanite ink, I decided to give it a try, to pair with a new Pelikan M805 I had bought. I was very pleasantly surprised. This is a great ink! Being lubricated, I knew the flow would be good. While color aesthetic is personal, to my eye it is beautiful. It goes on purple and over time sets to a blue/purple. It is a subtle, vibrant ink that is a bit of a chameleon. Is it purple? Is it blue? It changes in different light. It won't punch you in the face with over-the-top color, though. This is an ink that invites you to leisurely write without straining your eyes. I think many people feel let down because it is not ... MoreI considered Edelstein Sapphire for some time, but was hesitant due to the mixed reviews. This is an ink that invites you to leisurely write without straining your eyes. I think many people feel let down because it is not super-saturated like some other inks, but it still manages to be eye catching and anything but boring. It shades nicely even with an Extra Fine nib, behaves impeccably on paper types ranging from cheap copy paper to fancy fountain pen paper. Dry time is quite good; as a lefty, this is a primary concern for me and I haven't had any smudges. Yes, the price is on the high end, and part of that is reflected in the fancy packaging, but I find the cost is justified for the overall quality and performance. This is an ink perfectly suited to a noble fountain pen. If you appreciate an enigmatic, subtle ink, this is one to try.
