This has been my go-to purple ink for years. It's on the magenta side of purple, which accounts for its brightness and saturation. It's a free-flowing ink, but gives no noticeable feathering, even on cheap bond paper. It leaves no residue in my pens, and cleans out easily with water. If you're looking for a permanent, archival ink, this isn't it; but if you're looking for an ink that says "Purple!" on just about any paper and provides good value, the 62.5 ml bottle of Pelikan 4001 Violet is a bargain.

Pelikan's Brilliant Brown is really an earthy, reddish brown ink and it has found a home in my Omas Paragon pen, whose celluloid contains some of the same color elements. It's a perfect marriage. I had been searching for my ideal sepia color, and obviously this is not it, but it does have a really lovely and warm character all its own. Furthermore the cursive Italic nib now glides over the writing paper with almost no resistance, suggesting some lubricity in this ink's composition. As expected from a premium maker of pens and ink, the color is uniform throughout with no skips or, as yet, no indication of a clogging problem. It's a keeper and will be a mainstay in my arsenal of inks. Obviously I'm very happy with this purchase and recommend it highly.

I was being super particular when I was looking for ink; I wanted a color and opacity similar to that of a typical rollerball/ballpoint. Nice dark black, and dries fairly quickly, which was exactly what I was looking for.

Lovely ink. It's just the perfect color for the Mummy section of a Halloween program I'm doing for my Garden Club. It looks properly ancient on fake parchment. I made a 5 foot long "Scroll of Thoth" with stills of the 1932 Universal movie. Now all I need is the perfect green for "Frankenstein"...
I needed ink that doesn't bleed much through trade book paper, and dries fairly quickly. Oh, and it had to be in some a shade that matched the cover art of particluar book. The good folks at Pen Boutique thought this Pelikan ink would do the trick, and recommended violet. They were spot on! It's just about perfect for what I was after.
When matched with a pen that it pairs well with, this is an excellent black ink. The color is deep with minimal gray shading, although it is not as saturated as some blacks (e.g., Aurora or Noodler's). It dries quickly even on Rhodia paper. The flow of the ink is somewhat different however and may cause issues. It's hard to call it truly wet or dry, the better word might be "sticky". In wetter pens and broader nibs, the flow is excellent and produces a solid black line. In finer nibs the flow becomes quite difficult and it will often skip or stop entirely. I was becoming frustrated with the ink myself until I eventually found a pen it worked well with (cheap Platinum and Faber-Castell pens worked poorly, Diplomat was better suited).
I'm happy to recommend this ink without reservations. It's very fluid and free from grain, impurities and bubbles. I used it with fountain pens with very picky feeds (like a Sheaffer Saratoga) and it didn't clog it, unlike many other inks of lesser quality. It works well with an extra fine nib like the EF ones for Sheaffer Award. It works very well also with calligraphic pens like the Rotring ArtPens and it leaves consistent, thick lines. I was able to mix it with Sheaffer Skirp emerald green, purple and gold brown inks, and it behaved well without unpredictable shades of color. The only complaint I have is that when used to make thick lines, it smells while drying. Not a big deal. Just make sure you let your work dry for a while before delivering it.
I tried to get this Pelican fountain pen ink in other online stores but it was almost impossible. My husband and I enjoy using fountain pens and it’s hard finding the replacement ink. We ordered it through Walmart and got it in three days. Love the color and texture of the ink. Perfect!
I've found that Pelikan 4001 ink of the Black and Blue variety is a quality work horse type ink for day to day use. On trying out the Brilliant Green I was hoping for something of the same quality and it urns out I was not dissapointed. The ink flows well and has a good depth of colour. It doesnt show a lot of sheen or colour change as the ink gets wetter and more is applied in the same place but on the other hand it does provide a stable colour that is the same at all times which for a work horse type ink I thikn is great. One thing I was slightly dissapointed by is that the green colour is not as bright as what images and pictures I saw made it out to be. It is a bit of a green with a black/darker tinge and is more of a deep green rather than a bright or yellowy ... MoreI've found that Pelikan 4001 ink of the Black and Blue variety is a quality work horse type ink for day to day use. Having bought a 62.5ml bottle (double the normal size I get for black) I will probably have green pelikan ink left for me to use until I'm old and having trouble holding a pen but I'm sure that during that time I will have no complaints with the ink itself.
Pen Heaven is the only place to buy the fabled Pelikan 4001 Blue/Black which is in short supply. They limited my purchase to only one bottle which gave another customer a chance to buy this excellent ink. No problem. I will be back next year to buy some more before I run out.
